I second guessed that one and it didnt backfire for a change, I was about to put civic but thought they couldnt possibly be quite that annoying and changed my mind.

That being said that was probably my worst game (that Ive still won) in terms of getting next to nothing from guesses.

I think I need to stop using atone as a starting word, or at least start diversifying them, because its doing me no favours lately. I use that one most of the time because its usually a good balance of commonly used consonants and vowels, but maybe I need to be starting with more vowel-heavy words like adieu which I used a lot before.

Was the acquisition by Fandom that much of a loss that they need to inundate the site with ads to offset the loss?

The ads are so aggressively implemented now on mobile. When I browse the site on my phone Im getting served with varying combinations of ads including but not limited to pop ups, pop unders, video ads and at least 2 banner ads per page, 3 if there are lots of posts.

Its pretty ridiculous and aggravating.

Yeah, the sanctions were intended for the Assad regime, not the Syrian people; and since the regime no longer exists and the new government is now taking concrete steps towards the reforms they promised the sanctions should be lifted as a priority, if not THE priority.

The longer the sanctions stay in place after the fall of the regime the more they will only hurt the innocent Syrians who want nothing to do with Assad and just want to live in the freedom they now have and restart the Syrian economy.

I dont want to give Lukashenko any undue credit, but maybe thats why he leaked the Russian battle plans in the first days of the invasion, to display that they were Russian plans and not his own.

Its more likely that hes just an idiot though, just a thought when I heard that part of the interview.

Also, I wonder if Putin will annex Belarus (or try to do so) if Lukashenko falls one way or another. Theyre already effectively a part of Russia with the whole Union State thing, but does anyone think theyll try to completely annex the country?

According to Zelensky on the Lex Fridman podcast Lukashenko called him in the first days of the invasion apologizing to him for the attacks that came through Belarus and telling him there was nothing he could do about it.

Theres no way I can verify this unless its already a known thing, but if true it shows that Lukashenko doesnt actually hold any power in Belarus and that the state of Russian control there is to the point where Belarus might as well be a Russian oblast.

That's good, he's saying and doing all the right things so far if he wants to gain legitimacy and trust inside and outside Syria, which he really needs if he wants to be an effective leader and have Syria ready to hand over to an elected government in the 4 years he's projected.

Several sources are reporting that the new Syrian government is preparing to file a claim to the ICJ seeking $300 billion in compensation from Iran for their support of the Assad regime and crimes against the Syrian people and state.

I think its a step in the right direction if theyre willing to actually talk and not conduct diplomacy the Israeli way, but being in Syria you definitely know more than I do about the political situation in the region so Ill trust you on that more than the news Im reading.

Looks like the interim government has strong support from the Arab countries. Theyre all sending top level representatives to Syria, including apparently the first Qatari delegation in 13 years.

Such united support from the Arab countries will be a major step forward towards Syrias reconstruction.

That's definitely what it sounds like, or justification for their permanent occupation of Mt. Hermon and the other border regions they've already invaded.
