I admittedly would have caved on my first couple FromSoftware games I told myself I would try not to use summons and then immediately caved at the first hurdle. And if they had, most of these people would not have gotten the great experience of beating a Dark Souls type game which would undermine the games future success and name recognition. Lets not be daft, structured difficulty is the reason FromSoft games are where they are today, its not even a dev issue but a financial one

Developers envision how they want their audience to play the game, if you give additional options that strays from that vision the overall game itself might not be received as it was hoped. As someone who would never use it, an easy mode would have absolutely no impact on the game whatsoever, and every bit of crying about the idea is "hardcore gamer elitism" gatekeeping at its finest. Somehow I doubt the Souls genre wouldve blew up as it did if Dark Souls had an easy mode. Theres just something about forcing players to endure that made the series a staple. Sure gameplay doesnt change if theres an easy mode and it would be a players choice to use it, but from a marketing perspective FromSoft probably made a better decision leaving it out because too many would be tempted to use easy mode and then they wouldnt rave about the game as much --- "The age of men is over, the time of women have come" - God |

ok and what about games like armored core 6 where they dont even offer the ability to summon other players to help just accept the fact theres some games you wont be able to finish because of skill issue, theres no shame in it. Truth is even if the devs added an easy mode there would still be some people in world who wouldnt be able to beat it. The first dungeon was like *spoilers* Godricks castle and the second was like the Hogwarts dungeon in the main game, not to mention these legacy dungeons are quite small. The overworld is basically like the overworld in the main game simply rearranged without even different textures
