I argue against it. Worked in the industry as my starting point in the job market. Most of the slobs i know still works these roles in their 30s/40s and then come home to Fortnite and turning their bedroom into a coffin for their farts.

Eating out is an expensive luxury, even without tipping. If someone cannot afford an extra 10-20%, they should be conserving their funds by eating economically. Tipping should be abolished, but please don't act like people are trying to conserve money by paying 5 times as much for something they could cook at home, get as a TV dinner, or get from a cheaper fast food place.

That is definitely not how I make money work for me, mate. 8-15% of any amount is way too significant for this fuckery.

I can afford it because I don't rely on tips. You wanna hear the truth though? I don't work. I own houses now and people pay me rent. My wife died last year and I retired early to spend more time with her beforehand. I had been sitting around sad and widowed and get paid for it for the past six months. Now I'm travelling again to get away from it.
That's what I do: I be heartbroken alongside whatever the fuck I want. That's my life.

Hell in many ways with other companies in the food industry its the same thing its only when you have a wait staff that tipping becomes a problem. You arent t tipping your local McDonalds staff anything extra since they get paid a living wage.

tbh, i don't want to go somewhere and have to think about the person serving me's living situation. I think that's fair enough, right? If I knew a place was paying below minimum wage, I'd choose not to support the business at all. How is it even the minimum wage if people are getting paid below that anyway?

If you've been to a Kura sushi place in the US, they have robots and there is still a request for tip on checkout. The people there just bring you to your seat and food is served through conveyor belts (the robot brings drinks and condiments).

I'll be forward with ya: I've never visited the US precisely because of this kinda biz. I love travelling. But I also hate shit like tipping more than I care to admit. I feel like it morally compromises me (I do advocacy work for a living) and I hate seeing people accept shitty shit like tipping culture and so forth. It's so wrong.

Yeah, a customer is not the employer, mate. It's a stupid system and if people play it they lose by default. You can't expect the whole world to get in on this bullshit. It's not anyone's job to pay people but the employer, and the employee's money concerns are not part of the product the customer agreed to. It's so backwards it can see last year.
