Here comes the plot twist. The question assumes this was during a brief period of time, and in order in which these events occurred. For all we know, five entered the room first, had children and grandchildren, and seven left on a later date.

So after finishing season 2 of Dan Da Dan, I went and read some of the manga. I only went as far as where I'm guessing the third season will end, and feel mostly content there as a stopping point since the few remaining plot threads could be left to the audience's imagination, but it teases a cliffhanger regarding some coming antagonist and gives no hints about the second golden ball. So yeah, if I ever feel interested again, I'll pick up where I left off. That may even be years down the line.

Yes and no. Each cycle is timed, which provides some time pressure, but the time limit is quite generous, a lot of progress carries over between cycles, and there's no limit to the number of cycles (unlike something like, say, Pikmin, where you lose if you don't find all the necessary parts in 30 days). For the most part, the time limit really just amounts to periodically saying "I think I should reset now instead of starting something new, because I don't think I'll be able to finish it," with the rest just structuring when various daily events happen.

And, to add to this, the "time limit" becomes extra generous one you have the bunny hood and have worked out the Inverted Song of Time.

Like, with some micromanaging and modest skill, you could start fresh and finish the whole game, with everything collected, in six or seven cycles. You don't have to do this, ever, but you can. Or, on the flipside, it's possible to do every major in a single cycle, but this involves having done all the dungeons in previous cycles so you only have to redo the bosses.

It's a sandbox game with a schedule, but also with a few switches you have to flip an umpteenth time if you want to do more post-boss content in those regions. There's no real pressure from the time limit unless you're fighting the fourth boss on the DS version.

There's really not a specific year you can point to and say "Yeah that's exactly where this or that generation starts" but there are definitely very real divides based on technology that you grew up with. I didnt get a smartphone until I was 19 or 20 and kids born in 2010 were raised on tablets. Definitely going to be very different mentalities

Certainly, there are eras experienced by people who live them, and only them. I wouldn't call that a generational thing so much as the "right place and time" thing. And some folks have their reasons for not embracing those eras, some thinking it will just be a fad that ends as fast as it starts until the day comes they realize the fad won't end so they have to choose to relent or dig their heels into not taking part. That, again, is not necessarily a generational thing.

The closest you can get to a generational thing is how many of us who were born in the 80s and early 90s were raised at the right era to learn all this technology in its formative years, leaving so many of us to be the ones to aide younger and older folks who didn't learn said technology. And yet there were older folks who learned this stuff too. Right place and time.

This. There is often meaning behind authors' explicit intent, reflecting their subconscious biases, the context in which it was written, the impact it had on subsequent works, interpretations that are needed to recontextualize it for modern audiences, and other such subtextual analyses. It's not at all uncommon, though, to read way too far into things and make up a bunch of information that just straight up isn't there.

The tricky thing, though, is that you can't learn which is which well enough to come up with your own reasonable interpretations (as opposed to just getting the answer right on the test) without experiencing both the legitimate subtextual analysis and the bullshit. That means that, while a lot of literary deep dives in English class are largely nonsense, that nonsense can still help develop the skills, which is the ultimate goal of education. It's a tough balance to strike.

And, honestly, your best options are:

A) seek out the author's intent, and gauge how well that intent is portrayed.
B) if no intent is clearly stated or possible, seek out the author's inspirations.
C) if the inspirations cannot be found, just enjoy the piece of work, value the lessons you can derive from your own experience, and move on rather than dedicate an entire lecture or class to the subject.

Kingdom Hearts makes me roll my eyes hard at the best of times, and sick to my stomach at the worst of times. People going gaga over it doesn't improve my disposition with the series. I even tried the first game once just to say I've done it, and really wasn't impressed by the whole experience, personally. I remember, in high school, hearing from friends how much they dreaded fighting Sephiroth as if he was some terrifying monster in the game, and then I got to him and realized he just has one cheap trick he uses at opening and periodically in the fight, but is easily countered if you know to keep an eye out for the necessary countermeasure (aka., healing right away before the follow-up attack).

I also recall, by the time I played KH, even my little sister had heard about the then-famous song from the game. Then she forgot about it a few months after I beat the game. *shrugs*

Generational divides as we know them are a social construct, meant for a lot of us vs them mentality and playing the blame game with one another rather than joining heads and resources to make good things happen. That isn't to say there aren't awful or idiotic people in every age group, but rather we could have had a better sense of understanding one another, our hopes and grievances, if we didn't buy into the divide.

I know some technically Millennials whose life experiences and trains of thought align more with Zoomers, some younger Gen X who align with Millennials, and some older Gen X who definitely, without question, align with Baby Boomers to the point of defending them and discounting every valid thing said by anyone younger than them. And, by some grace and patience, I've met some Baby Boomers who escaped the nonsense and treat people as people regardless of when they were born; be more free like them.

The final episode was a bit better. Seems odd maomao didn't stay on as lady gyoku's attendant but whatever. All important named characters live happily ever after, all the nameless innocent people died off screen, except the ones that got kicked out their clan because of it's obvious corruption but also didn't go to the emperor about it, instead presumably waiting to be executed alongside their families when the rebellion fails. So much doesn't add up if you just think about any one thing for like 2 seconds. It was nice to see Jinshi clearly acknowledging his feelings for maomao even if she has a chronic case of dense MC. Maybe one day someone around her will tell her.

She already knows. Maomao chooses not to accept such things because of complicated reasons to do with politics, and all she wants in life is to tinker with various poisons and medicines. That said, she does love Jinshi, even if she has a hard time accepting such feelings. Books 5 and onward go into a little more detail on this, especially books 6 and 7.

games need to bring back stuff like the smash melee credits

i never skipped that

Or like Ending E in Nier Automata.

*snorts* I had an amusing idea for such a sequence. I loathe and despise rhythm games, you see, but imagine a credits sequence at the end of a rpg or adventure game--either one will do--that takes a page out of the Yakuza games' karaoke mini-games. In it, one of the cuter monsters you could fight earlier in the game gets on stage and proceeds to try to perform the ending song; and it is up to you to enter one of three or four commands as indicated by how a name appears in the credits. The more you succeed, the better the whole song sounds, meaning poor, medium, and great versions of the song, and the more the cutesy monster's audience appears and cheers for it. Keep the whole thing easy enough to do, but hey: player engagement! (no, no achievement to be tied to it; just have the neat experience for those who want it)

And if you want to skip it, miss a few names and "quit credits roll" in a similar fashion to skipping scenes normally.

I'm still laughing, because I very much believe he only made Bleach to troll Shonen Jump's critics who said his previous work, Zombie Powder, was too much like Yu Yu Hakisho. Zombie Powder was given a rushed, less-than-barebones ending at the end of its fourth volume due to a cancelation, and a few years later Kubo would make a series about a delinquent-ish teenaged boy who gets tied up in the affairs of the afterlife and has a short, cute shinigami to guide him in the early episodes, which would go on to massive success.

If anything, Kubo probably didn't have a proper plan in the very end, and only said he did when asked about it. The series was just him trolling his fanbase and wondering if something was very wrong with said fans.

most stories are going to have a weak ending, i can't even think of any decent ones

Fullmetal alchemists maybe

speaking of, magilumiers ending was dumb

Kaguya Sama took its time with its ending, giving us a final chapter or two per major character. Only two of those endings I didn't care for. One because it did my favorite character dirty, and the other because it kind of undid the progress made by one pair of characters just for the sake of trying to be poetic and cute (like, "Hey, look, these two are going to go through everything all over. Isn't that great?"). The rest of the full ending was good.

Touhou manga have a tendency to be borderline good but also anti-climactic. Ironically, the nigh-childish fairy series' fourth part, with Clownpiece, probably had the best ending.

But yeah, a lot of anime and manga seem to have a slight "rushed ending" problem. One of my favorite Girl's Love series even hits this in its last two chapters when it pulls out an unnecessary trope and then resolves it moments later (from the readers' perspective, because it was at least a day or two for the two girls). Again, everything else about that particular ending is good.

The Switch version annoyed me, even knowing what I needed to do to win on the regular. Then add those fragments for the dungeon maker as additional crap to collect from it, and it was just a nuisance. Still, in early-ish game, once you had that thing down, it was OK rupees. But the cheese was less Gorgonzola and more canned Parmesan, if you catch my drift.

I own the original and Switch versions, and played a little of the GBC version to help a friend who was stuck somewhere. I'd go with GBC for two reasons outside of the color palette not being monochrome:

1) The island seems bigger in the GB versions. I'm not entirely sure how much of it is the screen panning when you load in GB/GBC versus the same areas feeling compressed in the Switch version, but the older versions somehow felt larger and took longer to journey the full map after you had the requisite items. In the Switch version it felt like, once you were far enough to hit the fifth dungeon, you were practically tripping over the obstacles when going from west to east coastlines.

2) Dungeon building is kinda ass. You're given predetermined rooms to work with, and rules to mix and match. Almost fine as an optional thing if you aren't forced to spend more than five minutes on it-- and look, there are items locked behind completing all the build-and-test challenges that count towards your 100%. >:|

I would have to imagine if their clan killed the woman and idk, presented her head on spike to the emperor or something, their clan would be fine. Not to mention, Jinshi would have died in season 1 if not for mao mao being there in literally the last second. How does the plan shake out if that doesn't happen? The revival medicine isn't perfected, how does it work out if that doesn't work again? What if there's a guard in the gunpowder room or it's not all stored in one place (why the f*** IS it stored in one place, in a room with heat and fire?). What if they get killed in the attack? What if the emperor got word and led the army there himself (why didn't this happen btw?)? What if jinshi died in the attack? What if the kid's died from smoke inhalation because they set fire to the building? What if a lot a things? That plan is so incredibly reliant on coincidence when there is a much simpler and more effective plan of just killing the woman, who btw, is still going to die in the other plan.

If Jinshi were to die in an apparent accident, like Maomao had prevented, only some more of the emperor's own people would have died and been ejected from the palace as punishment.

We simply don't get to know the details of any contingency plans, due, in part, to limitations in the Narrative (the whole series is 85% Maomao and 15% Jinshi.

You are also only talking about shisui. What about literally everyone else? Every guard in that castle is going to die and their family be slaughtered and they all knew that was going to happen and did nothing. In that one scene, the guard was willing to get punished, probably to death, instead of just killing the woman since he was the only one around with a weapon. It makes no sense. At the end of season 1 when it was clear some master plan was going on behind the scenes connecting all these seemingly unrelated mysteries, I had much much much higher hopes for what that master plan would be and who would be behind it. Someone like Lakan was a much greater villain (even though he wasn't actually).

Four books, or two seasons of anime, tell us why people don't typically stand up against the heads of house, clan, or empire. This goes even more so for the common man, woman, and child who is raised to stay in their place and keep their head down; something that is beaten over our heads through the series. Furthermore!

Consider for a moment the clan kills the woman at the head of it all. Do you think this would be quiet if the people didn't choose to take this to the emperor? Do you think there wouldn't be an immediate investigation leading to countless more heads rolling that Shisui cannot control? All of the worldbuilding and politics shown until now gave us a picture of what would happen if the emperor saw anyone beneath his station kill a ranking member of society, let alone deliver her head on a pike, regardless of their reasons.

Catching up on apothecary diaries season 2 and the last few episode are really pissing me off. Why did shisui and that whole faction not just kill the old frail psycho bitch that literally everyone hates thats also guaranteed dooming them to not only die but even have their entire families slaughtered. Like bro, just fuckin kill her. Nah, instead poison the children and run for the hills to be hunted down for the rest of your life knowing your family hangs in the gallows. Like, how am I supposed to be sad for people this fucking helpless and stupid? How did this woman even get power? Suirei was willing to infiltrate the palace and try and kill innocent people, shisui was willing to poison children to death, they clearly can kill, fucking kill the woman. Jesus christ.

An unexpected low point in this masterpiece of a series but it stings quite a bit since everything was moving towards this end game right from the start.

I think you missed the point of the (admittedly convoluted) plan. Going off the novel, at least...

The old woman got into power because of her sheer spite and everyone else's stupidity allowing it; remind you of any groups in the modern era? Shisui wanted to end her, but knew her clan was doomed before she had the chance to put any plans together. So her master plan was to have her half-sister look up revival medicine in the royal capital, but said sibling, being under the old woman's thrall, needed to make an attempt on Jenchi's life. So the next step was to use her close friend, Maomao, to lure Jenchi to the clan before Shisui: set fire to everything, used her half-sister's new, barely developed medicine on the children, drop a hint to Maomao, hold her mother captive, and make a few requests to Jinshi, whom she knew had more power than he let on. One of those requests was to let the dead lie, but worded in a way where, once Jinshi knew the children were not actually dead, they would be allowed to live their lives. The final request allowed her to fake her death; no body would ever be found while Shisui left the country to explore the world and start a new life. In other words, her plan was for her and those children to all survive the inevitable, because events had already been in motion, and some lives saved is better in her eyes than no lives at all. The fourth book ends with her using the hair ornament Jinshi had given Maomao to pay for passage to another land, out of the emperor's reach (I haven't watched the anime version of this ending).

I should read books 5 and 6 soon.

Yay close to looking like a lesbian flag design. The long bacon would have been a nice touch.

My older sister used to work for a graphic design company that did this in its final months (it was moderately successful until this point). She got out just before the loans started happening, and Meat and Potatoes was no more shortly after she left.

Point is, make your escape. Now. While you're still relatively able.

Part of me wants to make a wild guess they'll definitely do 2, but then make an entirely different 3 that ties a bunch of things together. Then maybe the 3-as-we-know-it down the line.
