...it's also because voters under 45 including most people here simply don't vote in anything besides the presidential election and older people who are simply more skewed republican vote on every level. they'd vote for the fucking mail man if they could.

I mean, hes right. The pattern is well defined:

1. Adapt a well known, beloved story/property

2. Completely ignore the reasons why people loved it in the first place.

3. Make massive changes under the pretense of "appealing to the mass audience," while taking the core fans for granted.

4. Blame the core fans when the adaptation underperformed, despite openly and brazenly not trying to appeal to them.

This one is local to me. He was caught in 2016 vandalizing Nassau Community College with swastikas. Apparently that was fine and not a problem for him to become a substitute teacher.

https://tinyurl.com/mr7yasmx

A sicko substitute teacher showed a 14-year-old his hickeys and told her hed make her fall in love if they had sex during a series of disturbing interactions, authorities said.
Jasskirat Saini, 27, was arrested for the alleged bizarre harassment of the child at Hillcrest High School over several weeks years after he was charged for drawing swastikas on a college campus.
If I was a student at Hillcrest, I would make you fall in love with me by having sex with you, so you can never stop thinking about me, Saini, 27, allegedly told the girl, according to a criminal complaint.

The creepy interaction is one of many the skeevy sub is accused of making over the course of a month and a half, beginning in mid-March, prosecutors said. Saini allegedly asked the girl if she found him attractive while telling her multiple times that he wanted to have sex and start a relationship with her, according to the court papers. He also touched her several times hugging, poking her body and putting his head on her hand, prosecutors said.

In another interaction, he allegedly showed off hickeys his girlfriend left on his neck while telling the student he wished that she was old enough to be in a dating relationship with him.
In front of other students, Saini urged her to sit next to him as he brushed the other kids away, telling them they were being annoying, according to the complaint.

Yea, hiring him wasn't the best idea.

There is no need to speculate, we will go to war with China immediately if they attack Taiwan. Our military complex depends on TSMC, period. Of course ASML and TSMC can remotely scuttle the chip making machines if china does invade, they'd gain nothing economically or technologically.

The rush to build up TSMC fabs outside Taiwan is pointless, their cutting edge tech will stay in Taiwan and that's their insurance of US/Japan intervention against China. Hell, the fabs in the US aren't even up and running and will not be as productive due to our non-slavish work culture and our adherence to regulations. TSMC in Arizona pays well below other semiconductor companies and unlike their foreign work force Americans don't work 12 hours 6 days a week.

Only AMD and Intel can make x86 processors, but ARM dominates phones and is making its way into datacenter (where power consumption is getting more important) and even desktops/laptops.

Gaming hardware is looking at a decline, even NVIDIA reported a decline in gaming revenues. The margin on console hardware isn't great and high-end PC gaming is becoming more niche as prices have been squeezed way too high on AI overhype and people have settled for less powerful hardware in response.

There are so many people, organizations and governments that will not replace X86 chips for at least another 50 years. Realistically they won't be replaced until Intel/AMD replace them. Also AMD has an Arm CPU design in the works right now.

Insulated in the short term, but there are a lot of companies making their own AI accelerators now.

AMD is powering Microsoft's latest AI cloud service: https://www.amd.com/en/newsroom/press-releases/2024-5-21-amd-instinct-mi300x-accelerators-power-microsoft-a.html

X86 processors that only AMD and intel can make, that the western world's governments rely on. GPU market where it's so hard to actually break in, intel has 30 years of graphics experience but their current GPU drivers and architecture id problematic during the time they chose to make discreet desktop graphics cards and their product is a joke, don't expect another company to actually enter that market.

AMD and Nvidia will remain major players in the server market even as intel continues to lose there. Intel's Lunar Lake looks to be quite competitive with the Snapdragon X Elite so ARM for Windows isn't going to stroll to victory easily, although they do have a lot of designs.

AMD will continue to own the premium console market and their upcoming Strix Halo APU(8/12/16 Zen 5 cores with a RDNA 3.5 GPU with higher specs than the PS5's GPU) will be great for high end gaming laptops and can power a 1440P mid range gaming PC alone with no discreet GPU.
