Robin Williams for me too. In a crazy coincidence, I was watching the Family Guy episode where Peter turns everything he touches into Robin Williams, and once the episode ended, it was followed by a news bulletin reporting his death. The next morning, I heard someone say that they thought it was a hoax, and I desperately wanted to believe them.

I nominated My Immortal because I'd just watched Twisted Metal at the time of the nominations, and that song plays at the end of one episode. Despite being such an irreverent show, the context of the scene is actually surprisingly sad.

It's a whole new place, with a brand new attitude

The Pokemon Ruby and Sapphire credits are emotional for me, because the music makes them feel more bittersweet in comparison to the triumphant themes of other Pokemon games. You watch your character cycle back home, while cutting to scenes of all the Pokemon you caught during your journey. The Pokemon that come up are chosen at random, except for the last one at the end of the credits, which will always be your starter.

I tried Jason today, and I've been having a blast with him! New main alongside Marvin.

I went back to look at the noms, and I'm almost certain this is referring to me!

The developers have hired more staff while the game has been away, which will help keep characters coming at a steady pace, although it's too early to tell right now how much of a difference this will make. Other fighting games can add characters every 2-3 months, but since this one is free-to-play, they'll need to add characters more often than that.

If I were in charge, I would add a new character every 4-6 weeks, with the occasional double drop for the start of a new season, anniversaries, if Warner Bros have a new release they want to cross promote, or Banana Guard type characters who are in the game in some capacity already and making them playable wouldn't take much extra work.

On one hand, that trailer was nice enough to show each game in chronological order. On the other hand, it's super spoilery!

Funny story about the 200 nices trophy, I went to check how many nices I'd reached and I was at 297, which is how I found out you need to look at your profile to get the trophy. I hadn't done that, so I'd been sitting on a completed trophy for at least a week!

I wasn't aware of these two coming in any leaks or rumours, so I'm very pleased to see them both! Their inclusion also means that Freddy and Neo are on the table to come at some point.

I also came up with an idea for Mr Meeseeks if he'll be made playable like Banana Guard. He would be a glass cannon, whose attacks deal heavy damage and knockback, but he's also the lightest character in the game, and while he's in battle his damage steadily goes up because existence is pain to a Meeseeks. To balance this, one of his specials is the Meeseeks box, and if he fully charges it, a new Mr Meeseeks tags in to replace him, restoring his damage to 0 without being KOd. The box would take a while to charge, so he would have to use it while the other players are distracted, or have his partner protect him while he charges it.

Calling it now, Ace Attorney 7's DLC case will involve Maya and Pearl channelling Ryunosuke and Van Zieks for an old fashioned Victorian era trial.

I stink at Street Fighter 6 so badly! There is a trophy for winning 10 tournament sets, and in the course of entering 5 tournaments, I failed to win a single set. Legitimately, anyway - I've gotten a bye to round 2 a couple of times when there weren't enough participants to fill the bracket, and I won one match when my opponent didn't show up, but I assume these don't count since I didn't have to play. The best I can do for now is steal the odd round here or there. It is pretty demoralising to give my opponent a free 2-0 win, then in the next round they have to face actual competition and their opponent gets a free 2-0 win. I'll keep at it regardless. 6 feels harder than 5 did, but maybe I've just forgotten if 5 was difficult when I was starting out as well.

Eat Lead is worth playing for the trophies alone. They all have Matt Hazard commenting on them in the descriptions (I included one as an example, but there are a bunch of other funny ones as well), and there are some creative uses of them, like Matt saying he's about to earn a trophy for accomplishing a task, the trophy pops once he finishes talking and it's title is what he just said verbatim, or the running joke of trophies being awarded for using a feature for the first time, only for that feature to have been cut during development, prompting Matt to comment along the lines of "Well, we can't take it back now..."

Hard R is a reference to the N-Word being used with racist intentions because you actually pronounce the R at the end.

My first thought was with film ratings, like if a film has lots of violence, swearing or sexual content it's described as being a hard R. I didn't even know about the other meaning until just now!

I had a lot of fun following along with this as well, thanks for running it!

I considered nominating Snuff Out the Light in the first Villain Songs contest, but ultimately decided against it because it was unused in The Emperor's New Groove. Obviously now I know I should have tried it anyway!

Back in university, I did a module on horror films. Each week we had a screening session and a discussion session. One week, the film was Tetsuo. I looked up each of the films before the screening to get an idea of what to expect, and after looking up Tetsuo, I decided to bail on that week's screening. Across the three year course, I can count on one hand with fingers left over the number of sessions I missed, and this was one of them. Reading the Tetsuo reviews has further convinced me that Past Me had the right idea. Then again, reading along, part of me does regret not signing up as there been some really interesting sounding films so far. Maybe I should have manned up and powered through Tetsuo anyway!

Also, I burst out laughing at the Krang comparison in the Basket Case reviews!

Don't tell anyone, but I cheated on the final boss. I used an infinite rage code for special attacks because they're the only viable method to damage him. He takes ages to whittle down otherwise, he keeps teleporting around so you can't hit him for long, and he heals over time. I beat the first two phases, and died during the third phase when he starts destroying the arena. The frame rate tanks during this bit, until eventually I couldn't get out of the way and fell. It's not a difficult battle as I was in no danger of running out of health from his attacks, but a tedious one because it takes so long, and there's a checkpoint after beating the first phase, but not the second. Using certain cheats in this game is supposed to disable trophies, but if you enter them and quit to the main menu before reaching a checkpoint, trophies will be re-enabled and cheats will still be active.

With 92 platinums in the bag, I'm starting to think about what should be number 100. I'm considering Sonic and All Stars Racing Transformed, which only needs one more trophy, but it's for collecting all stars in the campaign, which I've been trying to do on and off since I got the game at launch. After 12 years, I may have to concede that I'm simply not good enough at the game for that, but not yet. I can keep trying! I considered Lego Harry Potter Years 1-4 on PS4 as well, because I got it on PS+ and the PS3 version was my first platinum, so it would be fitting in that sense. I ultimately decided against it, as it's not challenging enough to make up for being a repeat platinum. It can be number 101 instead, it still sort of works as a bookend at that point.

Grinding done, just the hard run left. Done act 1 so far without much trouble.

I chose Gen 1, but Gen 3 was close. Having gimmicky stuff like Castform and Kecleon that doesn't rely heavily on its Normal typing, and mons like Azurill and Swablu that lose Normal once they evolve was my tiebreaker.

Also, Arceus isn't listed for Gen IV.

Senor Burns was one of the Simpsons songs I considered before I chose We Do, so I'm glad it made the bracket anyway.

There aren't a lot of places where you can do this, so you have to go out of your way. The last jungle level has flaming enemies with machetes, so I let myself be hit by their jump attack to set Wolverine on fire, then grab the smaller enemies around the area while on fire to pass the fire on to them. Next up, replay levels a bunch to grind total kills and specific enemy types.

I don't have the DLC, so that's where I'll be leaving this. Maybe I'll buy it at some point. Is it worth getting? It doesn't seem to be a must-have (there's a costume pack and the Infierno challenges. Both DLCs have associated trophies), and buying things from the PS3 store is more laborious now that you have to put a voucher on your account on another console, instead of buying direct from the PS3.

This took a while, but I've finished now! The addition of crossplay made a world of difference for getting into matches faster, around 1 minute instead of 3-5 minutes.
