If you liked Braid: this is exactly the same mechanically/narratively and its visual/audio upgrades are just enough to help it appear in 2024 like you remember it appearing in 2008. If you're looking for the new content: the new puzzles are generally fun, but think of them more as extensions of the commentary than their own world(s). The commentary is overall excellent, though sometimes you can hear Blow be a little high on his horse. It's funniest when interviewers are trying to discuss other games and he keeps trying to bring the discussion back to Braid. He was able to dodge most attempts made here...but he let his guard down twice with disappointment in how Portal 2 has influenced puzzle games (mainly with that one-puzzle-at-a-time the-puzzle-is-finding-the-missing-piece format). It makes me think he does not like Portal beyond its humor, but it also makes me want to listen to their in-game commentary too. I really liked his rant against splash screen, though I don't wholly agree on his reasoning for why. There was a moment or two where he not only shared his successes but also helped you feel included in the successes like as a learning moment (main example is This is not necessary at all if you just want to replay Braid -- it's nice, it's better, the new puzzles are fine with some that stand out more, but it's just not necessary in these ways. I will note here that CTs only sequel Chrono Cross did not get any votes at all here, much to the disappointment of apparently nobody. If youre looking for something like CT but isnt a game, the television series Dark had the most points among non-game options. TODAYS GAME: Celeste is an excellent indie darling about climbing a mountain, and it stands out for the way its story handles mental health through a video game while also featuring some extremely difficult gameplay in its later levels. Personally, I think 5 is too many possible response. 1-3 is more appropriate. I've been simmering on this and might revisit this in a few topics from now, thanks -- wanna try this out a little longer and see what's working and not working better. The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time (I always felt bad for Mass Effect fans -- before the third game divided fans, I thought that trilogy was going to be the biggest critical darling of the medium since OoT or maybe even bigger. As is, OoT still holds that space, and in my mind FF7 is strangely gunning for it again but it's LoZ:OoT's to lose.) Minecraft (I don't play it but it's just too big.) Simmering on a fourth...lots of good options. Underleveled posted... Fuck it I'm doing a favorites vote today. Hey there! Trying out a new topic series. =) if you like something, what else should you try? This is that: the topic. It's simple. It wont always be about games, even though well often focus on games being whats asked about here. Other topics can be brought up though! Specific movies, television shows, bands, food, etc. we can explore those too. You can even vote across mediums if you really think Mario 3-fans would be most interested above anything else in the 1989 movie The Wizard, for example, go ahead! Just be clear please if you think theres room for confusion, especially if you go medium-hopping. Im taking nominations as well, so go ahead and clearly name them any time. Ill tally the answers probably every two or three days this wont be daily most of the time then name the top three as the "winners" for each game. For example, SMB1 might have SMB3, SMW, and NSMB be listed. We good? Let me know if something's not clear!
