If Trump is found guilty, is he taken directly to jail, or does he only do that when his appeals are denied?

I've heard some defendants are given time to arrange their affairs, if Trump is given that, how long before he has to report to prison?
He isn't likely to get prison time at all. But long story short, no, he would not be taken away immediately.

TopicActivision and Meta sued by families of Uvalde school shooting victims
King_Rial
05/24/24 8:43:56 PM

https://www.theverge.com/2024/5/24/24164311/activision-meta-lawsuit-call-of-duty-uvalde-shooting

The lawsuit blames both companies for promoting weapons to young men, including the Uvalde gunman.

The families of the victims killed in the Uvalde, Texas school shooting are suing Meta and Call of Duty developer Activision over allegations that they promoted the use of firearms to underage boys. The lawsuit claims both companies knowingly exposed the Shooter to the weapon, conditioned him to see it as the solution to his problems, and trained him to use it. Its the kind of claim weve seen unsuccessfully thrown at video game companies numerous times in the past.

The complaint was filed in the Los Angeles Superior Court on Friday on behalf of around 45 family members. As noted in the lawsuit, the families accuse Activision and Meta of grooming young men and putting them on a path toward violent acts. On May 24th, 2022, 18-year-old Salvador Ramos opened fire at Robb Elementary School in Uvalde, Texas, killing 21.

The lawsuit says that the gunman played Call of Duty obsessively, developed skill as a marksman, and obtained rewards that become available only after a substantial time investment. It also claims that the game features the AR-15 used in the shooting. At the same time, the lawsuit alleges that the shooter was being courted through explicit, aggressive marketing on Instagram that showed hundreds of images depicting and venerating the thrill of combat.

In addition to Activision and Meta, the families of the Uvalde victims are also suing Daniel Defense, the gun company that made the AR-15 used in the shooting. The lawsuit alleges Daniel Defense promotes its weapons to minors on Instagram through posts glorifying combat. Metas rules theoretically ban companies from selling guns on its platforms, though, and the gunman purchased the AR-15 from Daniel Defenses website not through Instagram.

Section 230 immunizes platforms from civil lawsuits such as these if they arise from posts made by their users, though things are a little more complicated in cases where a platforms targeted advertising is the primary issue. Meta didnt immediately respond to The Verges request for comment.

Companies like Instagram and Activision do more than just allow gun companies to reach consumers they underwrite and mainstream violence to struggling adolescents, wrote Josh Koskoff, the attorney for the Uvalde families. Instagram should stop enabling the marketing of AR-15s to kids by gun companies; and Activision should stop training and habituating kids to kill. Its that simple.

Video game companies have long pushed back on the idea that video games can cause real-world violence, something politicians have often claimed following mass shootings. However, research has shown that video games dont cause violent acts, and lawsuits targeting video game companies for the actions of other school shooters have failed.

In a statement provided to The Verge, Activisions head of corporate communications Delaney Simmons writes: Millions of people around the world enjoy video games without turning to horrific acts.

Koskoff previously won a $73 million settlement for the families of Sandy Hook school shooting victims from gun manufacturer Remington.

That sucks, but I'm glad you got things working at least.

I never had RAM slots not work, but I've had bad sticks of RAM before. Maybe they were alright and just didn't like my motherboards, I honestly forget. I'd get random freezes that replacing the RAM fixed. Happened with my one laptop and with my first custom gaming PC.
Ultimately, I think regardless of how many clicks I heard, and how much I thought I had them seated properly, clearly I did not because they are all working now. So as is often the case, the issue was likely all mine. I should have kept retrying then like I did now. Live and learn.

BACKGROUND:

So from 2019 on through 2020, I was gathering parts for my upgrade. Just gathering pieces as they went on sale using Amazon Gift card money earned through various reward programs. By about January of 2020 I had everything but the GPU. I still went ahead with the build, because saving up for the GPU was going to take the longest. I was also interested in waiting until the end of the year when the nVidia 3000 Series and AMD 6000 Series were going to launch. Even if I didn't get them, I could snag the older ones for cheaper, is what my thought was. I'd just stick my old GPU in there for the time being. January Rial didn't know what was to come in 2020.

Anyway, I finally get the build but it wouldn't boot. I was not happy, but I stayed calm. Eventually I figured it out. The mobo was not accepting the RAM in the correct spots. Only slot 3 and 4 would allow me to boot. I ran through all of the combinations, single stick and two sticks. 2 8gb Fury(Hyper?) X boyos. Anyhoo, it would only boot in single channel. That bummed me out, but I read enough research that I was "okay" with the setup. I just wanted to get going, and I couldn't afford to buy a new mobo. Because I had gotten this so long ago, I couldn't return it to Amazon, and MSI was like sorry, dude, you got to go through them.

So I just went ahead with 16gb of single channel memory on two 8gb sticks. Performance was fine. I know with AMD the hot would have been even worse than the hit likely took on Intel, but it is what it is. I gamed on and forgot about it like within a month.

Now here's 2024, and I want to upgrade my RAM. I order another set of 16gb RAM. "YOU'RE NOT SUPPOSED TO MIX RAM S-" it's fine. Anyway, of course I had completely forgotten that I had only 2 of my 4 slots working. I open my machine and I'm like...."did my dumb ass have these in single channel this whole time? What a n00b!" Not remembering why it was like that. I go to boot, and it does, but the bios is only seeing 16gb. I'm moving them around, trying to see what the fuss is. I try with just the new RAM, and it works. I try with 1 new stick and 1 old stick and it works. But again, only in slots 3 and 4. Then I remembered. I could never get slots 1 and 2 to work. Me and my cheapness, laziness, and HORRIBLE MEMORY.

So I return the RAM to Amazon, and I note on there that the RAM is in good working order, and I'd pay a restocking fee if needed, the issue was entirely mine. But they say it's fine and give me a full refund. I then order a new set of 32gb sticks. Two 16gb boyos. Two days later(thank you Prime) they arrive. In a plain brown envelope. Package freaking mangled! RAM sticks bent in HALF! I take pics and RMA them.

Another 2 days(today) the new RAM came. This time in the White Amazon bubble wrap like it should have the first time. Undamaged. Nice. Put it in. No booting. Because of course. Does this system just not like more than 16gb running at a time? Is that it? Swapped them around. Still no luck. Took one stick out and it booted. But one of the new sticks at 16gb is the same as two of the old sticks. So that's not helpful.

Going from 16gb to 16gb, and paying a premium for it, is not gonna fly. I put one old stick with the new stick. Bang. Working. Okay, cool. 24gb isn't 32gb, but it's better than nothing, I guess. I feel really bad about wasting shit, so I'm just gonna be a stupid consumer and keep it, even though it's not what I was trying to to do, and I'm still being somewhat wasteful. And I don't want to do another RMA. But now I have loose RAM sitting around. Might as well throw it one of the old slots that I could never get to work in the first place. I put the other new RAM stick in. The system boots. 40GB of RAM. And the Dual Channel that wasn't working now IS working. Why I could never get it to work before but it's working now is beyond me. I always made sure they were populated properly, and seated correctly. It's not my first rodeo.

So all in all, that was a "better" outcome than I could have expected. I'm hesitant to add the last stick of the old RAM. It could throw off this delicate balance. Let's hope memtest doesn't give me any issues.

I hate MRIs, but all of mine have been for neck, back, shoulders, knees, etc. And the end result of the last one was that they want me to get surgery. Laminectomy & discectomy. Fat chance of that happening.

The hate I have for them is the pain I'm in when I'm in the machine in a terrible position for extended periods of time. I'm a big guy, so the space of the MRI is tight. They said Open MRIs aren't as accurate, so I have to squeeze my 300lbs+ ass into these bad boys. Ugh.

Anyway, enough of my ranting. As long as you aren't claustrophobic, you should be fine. And I wouldn't stress about the swelling either. I think you'll have more answers when the MRI is done.

It's not about being gullible, or easily fooled though in my opinion. They are just perfectly fine spread fake news that makes them feel better. They know it is a lie, but they've already decided to go full on into a very disgusting set of beliefs, so they have to reject reality and make up their own. They are just over their heads in the sunk cost fallacy.

If you seemingly only believe things that support your opinions, even when all evidence is to the contrary, I don't see how that is gullibility, personally.

https://variety.com/2024/music/news/charlie-colin-dead-bassist-train-1236013395/

Charlie Colin, a founding member of the group Train, has died at the age of 58 after he slipped and fell in the shower while house-sitting for a friend in Brussels, Belgium.

While circumstances around his death are scarce, sources told TMZ that no one found Colin until his friends returned home from their trip five days ago. His sister confirmed his passing to Variety.

Colin was one of the original members of Train, which initially consisted of Pat Monahan, Rob Hotchkiss, Scott Underwood and Jimmy Stafford. As bassist for the band, Colin contributed to the groups first three albums: 1999s eponymous debut, 2001s Drops of Jupiter and My Private Nation. He and the band had breakthrough success as a quintet with the 2001 hit Drops of Jupiter (Tell Me), which hit No. 5 on the Billboard Hot 100 and won the Grammy for best rock song and best instrumental arrangement accompanying vocalist(s).

Originally from Newport Beach, CA, the musician initially met fellow Train founding member Hotchkiss when he was in the seventh grade, and the two separately went on to attend Berklee School of Music where Colin studied jazz composition guitar. After moving to Los Angeles, Hotchkiss extended an invitation to Colin to join one of his bands, which had signed a deal with PolyGram Records.

Colin, Hotchkiss and Stafford formed the group Apostles before breaking up. After traveling the world, Colin returned Stateside and joined the newly formed Train around 1996. Alongside Train, he toured the world and had mainstream success before leaving the band in 2003 due to substance abuse.

There was a lot of things that led to me leaving, but it really escalated into it, Colin said in a 2023 interview with Delphines Circle. We never took a break. We drove our tour bus into the parking lot of the recording studio for our second and third record. In Philadelphia, we made our one-and-a-half record We just never stopped. Its kind of one those things where you feel like this is too good to be true. Most bands have a lifespan of a few years.

In the time since, Colin played with hard rock bands including Slipknot and Puddle of Mudd, and reunited with Hotchkiss in 2015 to form the band Painbirds alongside Tom Luce. In 2017, Colin formed the Side Deal with Sugar Rays Stan Frazier and the PawnShop Kings Joel and Scott Owen.

At the time of his death, he served as musical director for the Newport Beach Film Festival per his social media profiles.
