Because if I was upfront from the start, you guys would be endlessly distracted about my role and Peaf's instead of scumhunting. If I claimed that I'd be modkilled for answering, you guys would immediately drop it without question.

I don't count toward parity, so I'm just an extra voice rather than an actual player for scum's victory condition to outnumber town. I'm really just here to have fun and throw some reads out.

Guys Peaf is town

I lied about being modkilled for claiming. Peaf summoned me. Ctes reached out to me about a special spectator role, and I've been in a chat with him and Peaf since the game started.

Peaf had no reason to summon me other than the fact that he didn't want his power to go to waste.

I had hoped to keep silent on this to avoid distractions, but if Peaf is gonna die anyway, no point in lying.

I'd like to just call attention to Ben again here.

Major complaint is the lack of confident reads he's known for.
While we have big arguments going like Blade and Me, or Blade and Peaf, I ask Ben to give reads, and he never comments on the major threads going on. Ben is playing super reserved, not sticking his neck out for anyone.

And now he takes a vote sheeping Kirby, who we don't even know where Kirby comes from, for a vote that wasn't on Blade OR Peaf, shooting Sultan back into contention. This is a vote that is distracting from where the lynch was going, and has the easy walk back of claiming he was just following Kirby's lead, so no fallback on him.

I really don't like Ben's vote there.

Yeah, I'm not super hot on Ben, either. But I'm willing to let him cook. If he doesn't serve on Day 2, though, kill him with fire.

Dumey, why do you believe Sultan is town? Or at least why do you want to veto his lynch?

Peaf had no hesitation in attacking me the last two games, and in Bloodborne was on me for ages. This Peaf felt content to sit as the lone vote on Sultan and plod around doing nothing but waiting for time to pass. The shade he kept throwing on me felt like it was for show.

And similarly, your last game had you at people's throats as early as only a few hours into this game. There's been nothing like that from you this game.

It's a stark contrast seeing town Blade last game Day 1 and Blade in this game. I feel like a passive Blade is likelier to be scum more often than not. And in my experiences as scum, it's much easier to argue against people gunning for you specifically than it is to push reads on another player who isn't necessarily suspecting you.

I feel like town Blade initiates the accusations, not waits around for something to ping him first.

Exactly. It feels odd that you've basically done nothing this game until Peaf came after you. Doesn't matter that Peaf didn't vote for you. The point is that you've had no signature Blade bravado this game until Peaf began shading you. Kinda feels as if you've been waiting for a moment to pounce on somebody to start emulating your town self, but haven't been able to find that opportunity until Peaf started coming at you.

My argument wasn't that you countervoted him. My argument was that you've done barely anything and haven't been nearly as assertive and obnoxious until you locked on to Peaf. It just feels uncharacteristic that, for most of the day, you've been so passive, so to speak.

Curious, did you check out the Blade VS Peaf scene from this topic yet?

I did, but honestly, I couldn't really understand what the debate was even about. But Blade definitely felt uncharacteristically less aggressive until Peaf and Sultan voted him, and only then did Blade come online. That's the most I got out of that. Has Blade really pushed for anyone besides the dudes voting him?

And then Peaf just always looks bad regardless of alignment. So I'm struggling to get a good read on Peaf here. Or really anyone for that matter lol

Bad idea. Day 1's are my worst. I have to rely on people picking on me or clearing me to make decent reads, and I've got neither of those right now lol

I do expect more from you, though. I understand this Day 1 has been pretty slow, but while I lean town on you for now, it's a weak lean. I expect more on Day 2.

I would focus less on my mysterious appearance. I can assure you that I'm pro-town at the very least.

As for the Dumey stuff, what I don't understand at all is how IGCD would've been TMI if his miller stuff was a fake claim.

But honestly, the more I keep talking about this, the more I'm inclined to think this is town Dumey just completely bungling his own defense from trying to see something that clearly nobody else is seeing. I don't see the scum equity in trying to insinuate that a claimed Miller is lying, not this early into the game at least.

The reason why it stood out to me is because I immediately saw it as TMI. That was my knee-jerk reaction. Flavor makes perfect sense with a specific flavor split. Flavor split was only IMPLIED by the opening post. While we talked about this later and everyone else is of the opinion that it would be obvious that scum knew the flavor split perfectly before the game was posted and had time to prepare, that's not what I thought in the moment. I thought I was potentially catching TMI.

Notice how there's an emphasis on flavor. People familiar with the show and especially the character of Ursula could instantly see that she fits Miller to a tee, due to being Phoebe's twin. If you were one of the people initially reacting to IGCD's claim with, "Wow that's so perfect", you didn't need to look it up.

But if you look at Dumey's post T1 P139:

I read the rules that stated everyone is lovers of the main cast. Then saw IGCD make a claim that makes a hell of a lot of sense if the scum team is the main cast of the show. I looked up Ursula to see if this was just a straight up first post catch since the main cast being scun was only IMPLIED by the rules but not confirmed, but then found that she WAS a love interest for at least one episode, fitting the rules that Ctes laid out. Hence saying it would be a very clever fake claim, choosing a twin when you know your scum team is the Friends.

IGCD's claim is so "clever" because it matches the flavor impeccably. But evidently, Dumey isn't familiar with this flavor at all if he mistook Ursula as part of the main cast.

Something doesn't line up here. Dumey was one of the first people to react to IGCD's claim. How could he have known this claim was so clever if he doesn't know the flavor of this game?

I just caught up with Kaguya-sama: Love is War about a week and a half ago. Watched S3 and the movie (a.k.a. the four-episode special).

And I was thinking, "Damn. This anime was so good, and I'm sad to no longer be watching it every day while eating dinner. I kinda want to make a mafia game out of it!"

But then I was like, "No, there's no way I could convert such a wholesome-as-fuck anime into a gruesome and lethal mafia game..."

And so, I shot that idea down.

...

But today, I had an epiphany. I have ideas on how to make this work, but I don't think I can do it alone.

It was a sarcastic analogy used by... Chris or Han, I think. It was a hypothetical absurdist game name used to prove a point.

Probably something along the lines of Lopen saying, "You always do x as scum in every game you've played" and the retort being, "Even if I did x in Purple Monkey Dishwasher Mafia, your point would still be invalid."

Alas, the forbidden techniques of the dark arts can't seem to search back far enough to definitively prove that. I just remember I was there live. I want to say it was... Paper Mario Mafia where the humorous name came up.

That logic isn't correct though because blade, if scum, only wins in that end game by (continuing to) NOT kill so Chang and I go down in order. Blade can't kill you there or he confirms Chang innocent, because again it was very publicly announced that Chang was too be your target that night.

I just realized.

I jailed FD because I correctly figured out scum could take advantage of my corpse if I jailed Chang, because Chang wouldn't have known he was roleblocked and the real killer could have claimed it instead.

Problem is... I thought that scum would be Blade. I jailed FD in an attempt to clear him town in the event that I died.

That last day was so comparatively pleasant because you were actually engaging with me and not just constantly putting me down.

Quite frankly I don't give two shits about your past. At some point, it got tiring and annoying from how constant the insults were. It was quite unfun to always be met with a "you're stupid, I don't care what you have to say, shut up" attitude.

That being said, I don't think it's appropriate for Ulti to have brought up very personal things about you to explain your ire. It's not relevant, just as how your past mafia behavior allegedly being more savage in comparison to now is also completely irrelevant.

My MVP award this game goes to Ben. I wouldn't have jailed Wallz or IGCD without his Day 1 reads or his neighbor chats.

Though funnily enough, if he didn't convince me to jail IGCD on N6, I would've jailed Blade that night. Which would have also stopped a kill but might have ended in Blade's lynch. What a twist of fate that would've been lol

For what it's worth, the fact that the game state got to a point where everybody seemed towny in some form another is hella impressive. Despite the extremely rough start, y'all held up very well.

And a special kudos to Ben for totally deceiving me. I knew he wasn't on the mafia team, but if it wasn't for Ulti's scan, I never would've guessed he was a neighborizing survivor.

Hot damn it really was FD? What a wild game!

I might have been grumbling a lot because Blade kept trashing me, but this was quite the memorable game. Definitely up there with Star Wars + Pokmon Mafia on the list of B8 mafia games I'll never forget, and for positive reasons!
