watched it twice about 5 years apart, Chimera Ant arc is the only one I enjoyed all that much on rewatch and I also agree it went on too long.

Good not great, wish I could have given it a 8/10 for the meme, but really deserves a 7. Too many questionable decisions in the flow of the game, both narrative and gamplay. It is enjoyable, play it if you are into SNES / early PS1 JRPGs, but there is a decent list of stuff ahead of it on every console you would play OT on.

Feels like a golden age PS2 game made with modern capabilities. I think most people played it through gamepass so it didn't make money.

Haven't played since it was new, but I'd imagine many bosses require lowered vitality in order to actually break the posture in the first place.

I watched the movies once as a kid and then again about a year ago. That fight has always struck me as a very bizarre direction compared to everything else. Special effects wise I was more impressed the second time around. A lot of the visuals in the trilogy are better than movies made today.

going from no internet to limited internet was definitely a bigger change for me, but I'm also aware of the effects of connectivity/social-media and often purposefully limit it. I feel like the advent of the smart phone is much more subtle and insidious in its effects, and we are just at a point now where were getting just over a decade's view of how the changes are advancing.

first change was going from no internet at all to internet at a fixed terminal in your home/school/library.

second change was going from limited access to ubiquitous access at all times.

I suppose that doesn't ever stop pronunciation factions from popping up and digging in. I always think of the discussions on how to pronounce Serge's name from Chrono Cross, when you could look at how it was written in the original to see the intended pronunciation clearly.

Katakana is still phonetic and would distinguish the two english words, Lead the verb would be written in katakana, and Lead the noun for metal would be written .

Anyone who can read Japanese could have confirmed this at any point, using the pronunciation in the original game, right?

Gloomhaven or Frosthaven if you want all puzzley combat and pretty much no roleplay (Jaws of the Lion is the best option to give it a try). Its a great game, but I see it often billed as a roleplaying game like DnD and that is just false, it is 95% a strategy game.

Could also just go with a more simplified TTRPG, many options here, but something like Dungeon Crawl Classics is great for a group who love roleplay and exploration, but start snoozing as soon as turn-based combat starts.

As a player I'd have no problem having my character pick a side, attempt to mediate, or instigate the situation further.

As a GM, I'm letting it all happen no problem as long as it makes sense in-universe. I really like pvp confrontations, but I'm not letting characters change their philosophies on a dime just because their player thinks it would be funny or exciting to scuttle what is in-universe a sensical communal effort.

The Minotaur in SMTIV is what I thought of first. Dunno if it is considered the first boss, but its definitely the first 'Learn the game or quit' boss.

Go may be hard enough to program that they've never wanted to spend time on the AI for it.

Played through it last year, solid game. Would be a 7 or 8 from me depending on how long I think about it. I'd have changed some of the designs for the encounters and balancing for the pin types because certain pins would just be dead against particular enemy groups a lot of the time. Final boss was really cool overall but really marred by camera issues.

I like the Gear 5 animated stuff a lot, but half the time it devolves into very unreadable motion. The curated clips are great, and I understand how much of a budgeting issue it must be for the show.

Anyone here played both it and Chained Echoes and have a winner between the two?

Played the original, thought it was good but a few annoyances held it back from being great, 7.5ish/10. wish I could have given it an 8 for the meme, but did not get there. I heard the sequel didn't really fix any of those annoyances, so I'll play it eventually but low priority. I'm definitely playing Sea of Stars before OT2 when the physical editions release.

When indie games are a third of the price or less, and have often been more enjoyable for the last decade or more, I'm completely fine with not paying these new prices and buying later or not at all. I rarely ever even paid $60 usd for games, even before this gens attempt to make it $70.

Yes once I'm finished with the current big game I am working on. Picked up the collectors edition.

Was impressed with SE's ability to actually make gameplay mechanics with part 1, I played the demo and looked into reviews after launch, but could not be bothered to actually buy and play the game because of the awful release model (and by extension story-telling) they've decided to go with.
