I find that I also avoid Turf Queens this way, as they seem to be rank 2.

Can report that I just picked option 2 early for the first time since I learned this strat because I was having a bit of a borked run that still had potential and I didn't want to lose it, and Turf Queens showed up as my top option for Rank 4, so now I am screwed. :(

With the new update, the new meta is the following, in order from what I consider important:

• One good Wit card

Training Wit in Unity Cup is OP. You need to get those unity trainings in and you don't do that while resting, so to recover that energy, you should be training Wit at least every three turns, with Energy Recovery boosting Wit cards.
MLB Fine Motion is still ridiculous if you have or can borrow it
MLB Matikanefukukitaru is bonkers for an SR and comes with guaranteed Right-Handed
Marvelous Sunday works well as long as you plan on doing a bunch of side G1 races, LB's are less helpful on her.

• The new Riko card

MLB of the R card is plenty good enough, but 1LB of the SSR is gonna eclipse that, stat-wise. The reasons you run this card are threefold: for the extra Energy Recovery from the recreation options that also boost other stats, from the Energy you save when selecting training with her in it, and the extra 3 Stamina you get each time you train with her. Because you are trying to rest as little as possible through a run, you use the Energy bonuses this card provides to circumvent it while getting very nice stat boosts with it.

• Two good Speed cards

MLB Kitasan Black, duh (borrow if you don't have, this is probably actually the most important of everything tbh)
There's a plethora of great SR options: Sweep Tosho/King Halo are the best, and Shinko Windy is another great newish addition

• SSR Haru Urara in the Friend Point Exchange

Guts is much better now since it helps determine your finishing speed, and you want MLB for this if you can get it. It's pretty good at low levels, too, but that 4th limit break adds a good chunk of mood bonus and training effectiveness, so you really want that. That said, you probably skip this if you're building a Sprinter, and maybe even a Mile racer.

• Fill the last spot with whatever your Uma needs

If you are building a Long racer, you're likely stuck with a Stamina card here. MLB Super Creek remains the gold standard, but the more F2P options here are also totally worth using: Manhattan Cafe is great; Mayano Top Gun, Zenno Rob Roy, and even the Mejiro McQueen shop SSR are all solid picks.

If you are building a Medium Racer, you actually still might be OK without a Stamina card as long as you get a good recovery skill. The new Rice Shower SSR is a Power card comes with Swinging Maestro, still the best generalized best recovery skill out there, which is an amazing compromise.

For Sprinters or Mile racers, you will not absolutely not need more Stamina than the bonuses Riko provides. If you have any stamina inheritance from your legacy umas, you are probably going to get to at least 500 Stamina without even trying, and that's plenty for both of those. Your options are wide open here. I would go with subbing out Haru Urara for 2 of the following 3: a third Speed card, a Power card, a second Wit card.

Unlike with URA Finale, you aren't banking on hitting 4 or 5 Friendship Trainings at a time to get those +90 Speed boosts in one turn anymore. Unity Cup is a much more gradual boost over time, and your options for selecting your trainings are much more fluid. You're going to have Unity boosts on every stat by the end of the run, so it's much easier to fill in the stats your Uma is lacking. In URA finale, if you get to the end of your senior year and you ended up not getting good stamina friendship hits, you're just kinda screwed. If that happens in Unity Cup, you can just take the +23 Stamina per turn over the +38 Speed option and you won't cripple your run nearly as badly.

When you get to the Unity Cup preseason rounds, always take the top option if at all possible. The stat boosts you get for them are too good to pass up and it makes the future rounds easier. When you get to the 4th and final round, you might see a team called Turf Queens in the top option. DO NOT RACE THEM. They are deceptively powerful umas and will probably beat you even if you have a great team. You want that extra leeway by taking the top options earlier so you can drop to the second option in case those menaces show up.

Oh, also unless you're raising a Front Runner, you want to name your Unity Cup team Team Carrot just about every time. With the new update, No Stopping Me is almost OP and having it available to get at the end of every run is a godsend.

There's probably more I'm forgetting, but this is a really nice guide to figuring out what to do to start, I think.

The half anniversary is here, and a plethora of balance and QoL changes have come with it, breathing new life into the whole experience. Everything is streamlined and easier to understand, and whole new game mechanics were introduced, such as Spot Struggle and Dueling.

The game hadn't gotten dull for me yet, but if it had, then this patch would've done a lot to reinvigorate my love for it. Maybe one of these days, I'll dabble in the anime...

I'm running
Speed: Kitasan Black and Sweep Tosho
Wit: Matikanefukukitaru
Scenario: Riko and Tazuna (both R's are fully limit-broken)
and then I sub in a Power or Stamina card, depending on what my runner needs.

I haven't really played enough of it to tell whether my ceiling has dropped, but my floor sure has skyrocketed. As long as I don't fuck anything up in regards to the team races, every uma I've built has ended up with better than an 11,600 score.

The main issue has been trying to get Speed up to snuff, but there are so many choices along the course of a run now, especially toward the end of the run, where you could take a single unity on Speed or a double unity on Stamina or something, and you just have to get less picky on what friends you want training for you, because it's gonna be between a 20 and 40 buff regardless.

I did two runs today to try and build Virgo Cup Aces, and I got a 12,771 Taiki Shuttle with 1200/941 Speed/Power and a 12,396 Vodka with 1129/1086 Power. Neither are higher than my URA Finale record, but I've also only done this, like, 10 times and I still probably don't know fully what I'm after yet.

Oh, and Buckshot Roulette is neat, though extremely short. It has a versus mode now, which I think is funny.

Who's Lila is indeed really good. Fantastic game with a really cool premise.

I'm excited for its spiritual successor in the works: Last Look Along Woodward Boulevard. It has a playable demo, but I dunno whether I wanna play it in case it spoils anything in the actual game.

First true never played series is Just Dance. The only other series in the 50m category I'd never played was Counterstrike.
