Considering that you're one of the biggest apologists here for Israel who just got out of a suspension, you're the one to talk.

Plenty of people here condemn both wars. But it's very telling that the most aggressively anti-Russian people in the Ukraine topics, who advocate for the West to bring the war to Russia like Anarchy, are also ardent Zionists who makes excuses for every one of Israel's wrongdoings.

LMAO the US was never tried for any of its wars of aggression from Vietnam to Iraq, but that doesn't mean it didn't happen.

And may I remind you that the USA has a law banning that forbids even its allies from cooperating with the ICC?

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/American_Service-Members%27_Protection_Act

Yes, there's a lot you could criticize about the US's position towards the ICJ/ICC. That doesn't invalidate the ICJ/ICC. In fact, those criticisms do the opposite.

The US has never been held accountable for its actions (and likely never will be) because it's the greatest superpower. England got away with much of the same for centuries for the same reasons. That doesn't mean international law doesn't make sense.

The truth is that anybody claiming that they know Israel has committed or is committing genocide is talking out of their ass because such a conclusion could not be reached on the information available to the public at this point in time, which is why not even the ICJ was able to reach that conclusion at this point.

I've wasted hundreds of hours reading into the Israel-Palestine conflict, and by reading, I don't mean Twitter threads. The more I read, the more I realize how little I and almost everyone else knows. There are no clear answers here. Both sides have been the "bad guys" and the "good guys" many times. This is probably the most complicated geopolitical situation in well-documented history. Anybody who strongly feels that there is a good guy and a bad guy here simply doesn't know what they don't know.

What I do know is the people from both sides got royally fucked over by the mistakes of several world powers multiple times. Israel has a right to exist, and the people who now identify as Palestinians did not deserve their current situation. Both sides have terrible governing powers, both sides have unhinged sections of their population that support those corrupt powers. A one-state solution would be the dream in an ideal world but is totally unrealistic in the world we actually live in, and too many on both sides are at this point not willing to accept a two-state solution despite that being the only realistic solution.

Are the people who have an issue with this site unfamiliar with the concept of political rating organizations? They're all biased by definition, because bias often comes with interest and expertise or a stake in a specific issue. I doubt you'd categorically reject a NARAL or EFF or Planned Parenthood or Center for American Progress rating.

All Republicans obviously get an F and can't be pressured. Democrats can get anything from an F to an A, which makes rating them worthwhile, and they can improve or get worse.

This stuff is obvious, you are choosing to pretend not to understand it to deflect from criticism concerning the Israel Palestine conflict.

Oh, I'm familiar. Being familiar with the concept does not mean taking it seriously.

And yes, I would categorically reject ratings from NARAL, EFF, and Planned Parenthood for the same reason.

Taking ratings from a biased organization is worthless.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Genocide_Convention

Article 2 of the Convention defines genocide as:

... any of the following acts committed with intent to destroy, in whole or in part, a national, ethnic, racial or religious group, as such:

(a) Killing members of the group;
(b) Causing serious bodily or mental harm to members of the group;
(c) Deliberately inflicting on the group conditions of life calculated to bring about its physical destruction in whole or in part;
(d) Imposing measures intended to prevent births within the group;
(e) Forcibly transferring children of the group to another group.
Convention on the Prevention and Punishment of the Crime of Genocide, Article 2

(a) Happened
(b) Happened
(c) Happened
(d) could argue either or.
(e) A large part of the population is children. They want their neighboring countries to take Palestinians.

Is tendency a synonym for bias?

You've left out the most important part under international law: the intent/motiviation behind the killings. That is what separates "genocide" from other types of killing in war. If someone drops a nuclear bomb tomorrow on a country that completely wipes out a certain group, we still wouldn't know whether it was genocide without knowing the intent.

And what about the actual insane amount of antisemitism coming from the right that has been there for yonks? Instead of having to jump around on Twitter to find people supporting Palestine, you instead have sitting members of Congress passing around conspiracy theories about Jewish space lasers, the current republican presidential nominee doing the whole "Jews control the world" conspiracy, the countless examples of anti-Semitic dog whistles politicians on the right use to rally their base, or the many Nazi flags flown at republican rallys that are not disavowed by said politicians.

The difference is I am already writing the right off. The right has always been antisemitic and always will be.

It hurts much more to see the left be antisemitic. You have people from popular far left-wing shows like Emma Vigeland from the Majority Report implying that Trump would be better than Biden for the Israel-Palestine conflict because he would withdraw support from Israel. That's how far gone the far left has become.

I'm not religious. I'm atheist and always have been, but it hurts seeing left-wing people that I used to respect call my sister (who is Jewish) a sub-human animal because she dared to call the October 7th attack a terrorist attack and comdemn Hamas.

There's always a commonality of those who break the rules and laws of an establishment, then play victim when they are reprimanded. Like a victim complex.

A 7 active post account being dusted off to white knight for another user. How convenient.

Lol. I literally proved you wrong and made your post look absurd, and now your response is, "well you have to post the entire thing" meaning their username so that I will be moderated again because I would again be calling a particular user radical. That's a terrible bait.

oh really, a very vocal section....? possibly you are right though. Had not thought about it

If you're not aware, then you're doing things right. That means you're staying away from Twitter/X and the corners of the internet I'm exposed to. I promise you though that there is a very passionate sect of the left right now that feels all Israelis are animals and that anybody who supports Israel's existence is a genocidal maniac. It's reached the point where they refer to all Jewish people as Zionists. I've seen multiple people on Twitter say that anybody who chooses to live in Israel is worse than the Nazi German soldiers stationed at the concentration camps.

The most mainstream telling point for me was when Ethan Klein from H3H3Productions (popular youtuber/streamer) received the most unhinged hatred for expressing the most tame views on the conflict. He condemned the IDF and the Israeli government, but he said Hamas committed a terrorist attack on October 7th, 2023, and he dared to say that the children in Israel were innocent and not "settlers/colonizers".

For that, he and his wife received countless death threats, and all of his social media is still regularly bombarded with comments calling him sub-human and a genocidal animal. There's been countless "memes" across the internet of his wife murdering Palestinian children and calling her a dog despite the fact that she never did anything besides be involuntarily conscripted to serve in the force (as all Israelis are) for a couple years and likely never saw real action. The Hasan Piker (if you know who that is) discord is particularly bad for this.

It's just especially surprising given that Ethan is giving a take that is further left of what would be considered the mainstream Democrat position on the Israel-Palestine conflict.

60% of Republicans would still vote for Trump if he were convicted of crimes charged.

It's not about who is a good guy or a bad guy. The reason to vote for him (or the next-worst thing) is because he enables racism and other forms of bigotry. People are going to stop hating Jewish people, LGBTQ people, Black people, Asian people, or Hispanic people just because their champion has an affair or commits treason.

While I agree with most of your post, the inclusion of Jewish people seems very inaccurate given the insane amount of antisemitism that permeates the "progressive" left these days.

I am seeing a ton of people on the left parrot phrases like "From the River to the Sea, Palestine will be free", supporting Hamas, calling every Israeli citizen including babies "colonizers and settlers", and saying anybody who believes Israel has a right to exist "genocidal".

While it's true that the actual candidate representing the party, Joe Biden, has been pretty supportive or neutral on Israel, there's definitely a very vocal and online-present section of the left that is antisemitic.

I say this as someone that generally supports the Palestinian cause and detests much of what the IDF has done. I think Netanyahu is a clown, and I know many Israelis think the same. But there is definitely a line that is crossed on the left right now where it becomes antisemitism under the supposed guise of just "anti-Zionism".

No.

It's very simple. If any of these religions (most of which are based around the same myths) were true, we'd have seen more proof or evidence in today's era.

It's extremely convenient that as soon as modern technology becomes commonplace and we have every person with a smartphone equipped with real cameras/recording device, we somehow magically don't have any new evidence of miracles or otherwise supernatural occurrences. It's almost like everything can be explained with what so many already know to be true; most humans are dumb and easy to exploit. A greedy man can write all the scripture he wants to further his own interest, and before the age of modern technology, he could claim all the miracles and meetings with "God" he wanted without any expectation of proof. Once the tools are readily available, we coincidentally stop making claims about miracles.

This is why you have priests with millions of followers like Kenneth Copeland. Millions of people around the world watch this guy regularly preach about Christianity and the teachings of Jesus (who supposedly was an advocate of the poor and detested rich people) , while he regularly flies on his $125 million gulfstream private jet and calls people who fly coach demons.

You've highlighted the problem of "it just depends on which moderator your post goes in front of". I'm sure the anti-vax mods you're describing wouldn't have moderated my post, but because it went in front of someone else, they found it to be disagreeable and can thus purgatory the user without any repercussion or review.

Did you have prior moderation history? Many times that is a big factor

Of course I did, with equally ridiculous moderations (on this board of course). All for the same line of reasoning, being left-wing but not so far left that you agree with the extreme positions of the moderators. I wouldn't be canvassing for Biden if I wasn't a staunch democrat. I simply didn't care enough to try to appeal the first couple because the consequence of losing Karma just because a moderator disagrees with your position doesn't seem like a real consequence. Once they start putting real consequences, there's no longer even an opportunity to appeal them. If any neutral third-party actually reviewed my moderations, they would see that my comments were not actually anything worthy of moderation, just like the above.

Aside from that, why would that matter? The point is that the above moderation is clearly not worthy of moderation. What rule does it violate?

"Radical" is not an insult. Radical is a descriptive term for the relative popularity of one's political positions. It's a factual statement. Someone is radical if they have positions that are only held by a minority of people on a certain end of a political spectrum. It is a fact that if you espouse political positions held by a tiny minority in the extreme end of the political spectrum, you are by definition, radical.

It's not even ascribing a value judgment on their views. Someone can have a view that is both radical and still a good view.

But as you can see, supporting Biden is not far left enough for this particular board. You need to be so far left that you don't support the party's candidate, because the party's candidate isn't far left enough for the most extreme.

Then discovery happens, and the evidence from the county attorney's office includes video footage of them making the same "mistake" 5 times prior with the same or similar items.

It is uncommon for grocery stores to pursue these types of theft charges until they see repeat offenders.

I never use self-checkout because I would never use a place like Walmart.

In the Midwest, we have a chain of grocery stores called Hy-Vee, and the customer experience is so vastly superior to Walmart that I can never imagine going to Walmart again. Hy-Vee has become a pretty big chain, so now they have everything that Walmart would have.

At Hy-Vee they have staff that looks out and opens up new check-out aisles for you so you don't have to wait in a line. So, it's actually faster to use a staffed aisle there. They also have baggers that arrange your cart. Plus, unlike Walmart or Target, Hy-Vee will, in addition to your name brands, carry local brand from businesses in your area so they always have super good salsa/hummus/chips/wine, etc.
