Yeah the series has pretty good pacing especially compared to the average Shounen before it, but Season 3 is something...special. If there's any complaints of the pacing, it's probably due to that season.

I def think ATB is pretty awful as it is in most Final Fantasy games, but as said by others, I remember Grandia doing it pretty well. FFX-2 was also better than most.

I feel like FFX's battle system has a lot of the benefits of Final Fantasy ATB without the drawbacks, since it still calculates speed & charge times n stuff without the actual boring, drawn out waiting & letting you see a timeline of actions so you can actually strategize if needed.

But older Final Fantasy games are all pretty easy & spam attack-centric anyway so whatever system that use doesn't really matter that much.

I guess it can join FF7 Rebirth in the "mediocre sales due to no one wanting this" camp.

I don't care about experiencing the "regular" version of a game, I'll download all the mods that sound interesting if I think it'll make my first playthrough more fun.

I recently got Elden Ring and got a total overhaul mod called Convergence - that's gonna be my first playthrough. Did the same thing with Tactics Ogre and a mod called One Vision although I had spent like ~5-10 hours on the base version before I got that mod.

Tactics Ogre Reborn (Both consoles) - kinda similar to FFT with "ye olde" English sort of dialogue. I never played with voice acting but I dont imagine it's "anime sounding"

Final Fantasy X (Both consoles?) if she doesn't mind Lulu's design

A more out there recommendations that I would personally recommend is...

SaGa Scarlet Grace (Both consoles) is pretty light on story, and I dont recall the game having any fan service designs. No camera to fiddle with as youre basically alwaya moving on a world map when youre not battling. Just remember its a SaGa game.

Either Persona 5 (PS4) or Tears to the Kingdom Collector's Edition, don't remember which was more expensive but they were both around ~$130 I think.

My sister on the other hand bought .hack Quarantine for like $200 so she has me beat

Create a party with a bunch of classes to choose from and go through a ~25 floor dungeon. The Untold games are remakes of the 1st and 2nd in the series and include a Story Mode where you play as a preset party with an actual story like a normal RPG but also include Classic Mode where ya just create your characters and dungeon crawl.

I personally cannot visualize a single thing. If i close my eyes, its just pure darkness no matter what I try to imagine.

TC I unno if you'd be interested, but someone shortened each Naruto episode to ~2 mins and uploaded them on youtube.

As someone who stopped right after Naruto vs Pain, these episodes helped me to catch up and realize I missed nothing important.

Easiest solution is just doing what Etrian Odyssey does by having their resistance to the ailment increase with each time it's applied to them and not making the effect broken in the first place.

5 turn sleep where the enemy doesn't wake up when attacked is ridiculous, but I don't think Nintendo expects their mario rpg spinoff to be amazingly balanced either.

If people can believe in astrology and other stuff then believing in reptilian shadow governments isnt far off the mark.

I honestly believe the Etrian Odysseuly series stands at the top of DRPGs

Personal recommendations are EO5 or EO4.

Persona Q is pretty much reskinned EO but doesnt really satisfy either crowd so only play those if you're a big persona fan.

Lots of mobile/gacha games that are like 99% single player but still require active connections and get shut down. I'd love to play Terra Battle again, but that game is gone now

The Remake falls into a weird spot because to me, it really doesn't feel like it's for genuine fans of how the old FF games used to be.

Well it surely isn't for new fans seeing as how people say you gotta play the original, Crisis Core, and whatever thousand spin offs spawned from it.

So is it a gacha to get some characters or it's all unlock them by doing quests or whatnot? I watched some of a 20+ min video by Arekkz and he mentioned getting characters during the story but mentioned other optional characters

Besides the ones you start with, there's a story unlockable character and the others you unlock with an item you get either from story/quests and trading to an NPC. You choose the char, no gacha.

Been no lifing it since the early access released and am right at he final boss.

I've enjoyed it, although I've also heard the game gets a lot better after the main story so I'm looking forward to that.
