Given how bad summons have done other than Doomtrain, I don't think there's anything we can do to help out summons (unless we're going to give them credit for how their dominant does this year)

I think both Titan and Ifrit are cooler after ff16 than I did before and it's probably Bahamut's best appearance too

In FF8 they didn't just "decide" to go to space, they learned that Ellone was up there and Squall thought they would be able to use her power to change something in the past

right and the moment that thought is formulated squall starts walking onto the ship. it's the whiplash from how quickly the idea is introduced that makes me laugh

I'm job hunting. Some of the analyst positions I've seen require additional training (and definitely review). I'm looking at Power BI and SQL as examples. Are there any good platforms that don't cost a lot where I can learn and review these things?

I learned enough to get hired as a BI Developer from hammering a free trial of SQL on Codeacademy. I'd been working with data in Excel and had been on the customer side of Power BI for a while so I had other experience but the career module on there covered WAY more than the work I've done in my BI developer job.

The analyst stuff, idk man pick up Excel and make sure you know how to use tables and a bit of power query. the education out there is super rough for it because Excel has developed so much since 2016 but if they tell you you need SQL or PowerBI to do the analysis they're lying to you

in ff4 don't you decide to go to the moon and then have to do something to get there? in ff8 it's like, so next we should get into the moon and 3 seconds later squall is walking onto the rocket

I mean, a witch from the future possesses a character from the party, who the main character didn't give a shit about while the entire party forces them together because they are supposed to be I guess. So he sobs over her comatose body, while being transported to a past self within the body of his father and his friends, who somehow bumblefuck their way to defeat another sorceress and take over a futuristic country.

The main character takes the comatose body of the possessed girl he suddenly can't be without, and then they for some reason go to the moon, because I guess, and then he mindwarps into the past to get the girl back, while jumping out into space after she triggers a cataclysm of endless monsters.

The characters then concoct a plot to use the power of friendship to bypass the issue of existing in the far flung future (which doesn't seem to look all that different), and then go into a Dracula-esque Castle to battle a sorceress for the fate of humanity. The main character suffers an insane mindfuck kind of ending...but they get all back to their own time because he believed a special garden would be the best place the girl he kinda hated but now super really liked because she was comatose was told, "Remember this place. I love you, so I'll find you."

I mean...even by Final Fantasy standards...fucking wut?

i really feel like not enough is made of how quickly the game throws "we're going to space" at you, it makes me laugh every time i play it and was what i was thinking of coming in here

Beating Roche is actually needed for one of the Johnny trophies, and for the Platinum, by extension.

and worse yet, you get probably the best accessory in the game which I was locked out of until finishing the first playthrough

machinae supremacy are a swedish metal (but not particularly heavy) band who sing mostly about video games and use a SID synthesizer, the chip from the commodore 64, to get authentic 8-bit sounds. this is my favourite album of theirs

I found Chadley and Mai really annoying but like, in an endearing way. I felt like I was supposed to hate them and was relishing in it. Like the character in a sitcom who everyone else just always reacts "ugh" to. I hate their guts but would rate them highly on this list, does that make any sense

But yeah Mai in tough fiend intels is maybe the most annoying thing in the game

I was under the impression it was the latter which for UPA means redoing everything up to that point including non-manuscript quests...

correct

but all of the non-manuscript ones are also non-combat and don't take very long to redo when you're skipping dialog. filling out the ones i needed took me like half an hour after doing all the manuscript ones, and most of that was on taking the photos in cosmo canyon again

the only good break I got in the whole experience was realizing I didn't need to do the Sephiroth brawler again for the Hard Mode UPA, since you get the manuscript from the battle. so at least that is one and done

...... just sitting here writing the post i realize i did the mini games again for no reason

dunno if anyone else had the experience with UPA that I did, but I went around and beat the 4 mini games, which already annoyed me because I had a high enough score in Speed and G-Bike beforehand, but okay fine one last lap of the mini games and the final chocobo race was fun enough. But then I got to the battle square, and it kicked my ass for hours and I decided to go finish the game and gain some levels and come back to the quest later. Not realizing the quest would reset if I came back to the chapter later.... So, when I came to finish up normal mode, I had to do all the 4 mini games again along with the battle.

Then imagine my delight when I started manuscript hunting.........

gotta say, I think your ranking of the minigames is significantly skewed if you've not yet even done UPA once

yeah I'll be honest, I don't have a better suggestion. I might have just felt extra grumpy at the time because every time people talk about liking it i can see why

maybe my hot take is my least favourite thing in the game was the gi. I think it's cool to tie everybody's plot back to the main in some way but I just kinda felt like the gi didn't warrant that

I hated that he was Scottish but did think he was a cool and much improved character, although also agreed that i was incredulous about just how easily he tagged along with the group

yeah they'd already made her like, the mid boss so i was definitely expecting someone more plot relevant after we got vincent second to last!

The only fight I think is poorly designed is that one where you have to kill the mindflayer before you kill the two side enemies... who also will self-destruct if they get close to you. That one just isn't fun at all.
