Personally, I know I can tank a swing to the forearm or upper arm(non-knife holding one of course) if it comes down to it and at most have to deal with a what? a fractured humerus? I've noted previously in the thread, that I've been hit by a car while cycling and while I did sustain some serious injuries, I had no problem getting back up and going home first. If 1400 kg of pure Korean steel coming in at 80 kmh couldn't do me in, I'm sure a swing from the average bat fan won't. Especially if it's a swing that's intentionally leapt in to

If you are doing anything other than swinging with a bat, you're a dead man. It's incredibly easy to grab a hold of and secure a bat that's being proked out rather than swung. Pinch it between the armpit, close the distance and that's that.

Considering I've gotten up immediately after getting hit by a car while cycling and cracking some ribs and fracturing my femoral neck, I feel fairly confident I could tank a bat hit that I'm prepared for. Especially with your life on the line and adrenaline rushing through, it's a bet I'd take.

Nah, he has a point. Bat swings are incredibly telegraphed. If you are fighting someone, it's gonna come down to luck if you want to crack their noggin on the first swing. If I'm fighting someone with a bat and I have a knife, I'm letting them swing and I'm eating that shit with my forearm and vertical thrusting until tomorrow. I'll sacrifice the arm and take the snapped wrist if it means I get to walk away living.

You guys aren't going to be fighting a pinata. Realistically for every swing you'll be able to land, you're opening yourself up to at least 5 stabs.

Practice doing a stabbing motion rn and you'll see you can crank out way more of those than you can full range of motion swings in the same amount of time.

If I was put in a situation where it's a 1v1 life or death bout, I'm going with the knife. If you can bait that initial swing, you can go in defensive and get close enough where any successive swings aren't as effective as any successive stabs. Will I come away from it with a broken arm? Absolutely, but at least I'll be walking away.

Cycling or hiking is your best bet for something sustainable. Provided you have long enough trails/routes near you. I burned roughly 2500 during an 8 hour session.

I mean, I agree through and through. Only thing I'd differ on is that I think gifts need to be given out of a sense of charitableness and not a sense of obligation.

If I get someone something and they didn't get me anything, no worries. I wanted to give something not because I expected anything in return, but because I wanted to give. However if they come to me next day with like.. chocolate or wine? I'd be like "gee thanks, you shouldn't have" and then in my mind be like "you really shouldn't have. I don't even like chocolate, nor do I drink lol. Who do I have to give this to now". But it would have stayed in my head and went no further than that.

Regardless, I'm in agreement that she not only reacted poorly, but didn't seem to do so for any good reason. It'd be one thing if right off the bat she was like "Why chocolate? You know I don't eat these right?". I could understand someone feeling put off in that instance, but to compare it to a white elephant and worst of all, accept the gift only to voice displeasure when someone else tells her to. Yeah, I've been to a couple of bbq restaurants, and a lot of them have mainly pork.
