I'm going through all the volumes in order. This strip was from 1955. I feel like her personality is a bit different than how it's portrayed in the animated shorts that came out much later (which up until now has been my only exposure to the Peanuts).

Stopping all wars is a heck of a feat, especially in the context of today's world. I don't have the numbers, but not even including the reduced crime rates, I think this spares more lives than he was killing. Depending on how you look at it, it almost turns into another trolly problem.

TF is good, but I just hate the art style. It has that overly bright and clean plastic aesthetic that plagues so many Nintendo games. The SNES titles had this gritty look that perfectly captured the raw look of nature and weathered environments.

I can't answer the poll. I'm clinging onto Win7 until it's pried from my cold dead hands. I only use it for web browsing and running my old version of Photoshop (I'll never switch to their subscription model). And I don't care about not being able to play games because literally anything I care about playing is available on Switch/PS5. I'm just not willing to put up with all the invasive crap from Win11. I'm not going to start hacking my own computer just to get it to run the way I want to.

I just can't fathom how or why this guy managed to garner so much support. To fall for a villain who's charismatic and cunning and a skilled orator, that's one thing. But he's none of those things. Take away his suit and his makeup and put him in Walmart attire and you couldn't pick him out among the droves of people who worship him.

I look forward to another short-sleeve Christmas.

Even at 1 click per second, you still net 63k a year. And I'm sure someone with Lego could rig something that goes way way faster. The only downside is having to figure out a way to deposit all the pennies without arousing suspicion.

I'm not sure the series ever defines what a toy actually is. However, I think an important distinction is that it has to be something that was made with the intent of being played with. In which case, I'm not sure Nativity figures would become alive, as they serve a more decorative function.

I think it's a beautiful thing. The mathematics behind all the optimizations and route planning, coming up with new strats to shave off seconds, risk vs reward when performing tricky maneuvers. It's a joy to watch.

It's why I don't click on articles when browsing Reddit on my phone. The page turns into a minefield full of ads and banners and images and popups and everything else but the article.

I've been very casually learning Japanese for a year and a half now, but I'm getting a little bored. I've been thinking about taking a week of Korean study just so I can finally read their written system, even if I can't understand the words anyway.

The good thing about Korean is that their alphabet is very easy to learn. Very similar to English in a lot of ways. And I think it's even easier to write. Every character is made up of either lines or circles. And there is no capitalization. The trickiest thing in the beginning when learning it though is that there's maybe two letters that have a unique sound that doesn't exist in English. And the sentence structure follows a subject>object>verb format. So instead of saying "I like pizza", you're saying it as "I pizza like". Aside from those couple of things, it's very accessible when it comes to the basics.

It would be one of mine too. It's amazing how someone can suddenly sound like your best friend the moment you start speaking their native language. Not to mention, all the knowledge you can obtain by being able to properly assimilate yourself within any given culture.

You're not kidding. I just recently started teaching myself Korean. I'm still very much a beginner, but I'm still blown away by how I can now read and pronounce words in a language that looked like complete gibberish to me not that long ago. It almost feels like a learned superpower.

I'm just thinking long-term here, but I feel like the sanitation of language ultimately makes it more difficult to have meaningful discussions about said topics. Certain words should carry a certain connotation and weight to them, and by trying to weaken their impact, you're diluting their true meaning.

As a germaphobe, I had to buy a new car. I never would have felt comfortable sitting in it otherwise. So the benefit is knowing exactly everything that has taken place inside your car.

It hit 80 today. I already hate it. Ants are showing up, pollen is messing with my sinuses, and I can't engage in any outdoor physical activity without getting sweaty. If I could choose, I'd keep outdoor temps at 60 all year long.

People taking calls on those bluetooth earpieces. I'm so tired of mistakenly engaging with people who weren't talking to me. I work retail so I naturally assume I'm the one being addressed. But I guess this doesn't really count because it's completely rational.

I'm already fluent in understanding Spanish (my mom is Spanish), and I can speak it on a very basic level. So I'd gain a lot more by magically learning Chinese.

This reminds me of a time in elementary school when the teacher told us to read all the instructions before taking the test. The last item on a long list of instructions was to leave everything blank. No one "passed".
