because with the mario rpg remake, and now the paper mario remake, the engine work and assets are done, sequels can be made now more easier than starting from scratch with an unknown and untested new title

well hopefully they can reuse a lot for a PM64 remake since that is way further behind visually it would be a bigger improvement.
And it could be done with a little more risks like incorporating mechanics from TTYD like partner hp

No, it's a great game but the original is not really dated enough that a ground-up remake was really justified.

It feels really wacky that they reprogrammed the whole game in a different engine just to essentially make an exact copy with shinier graphics. I would probably rather play the original since it runs at a higher framerate.

I am probably in the minority since I am extremely apathetic about graphical fidelity but I feel that a remake is usually not better if they don't make big changes to the control scheme or game design overall.

Best case scenario is a remake of an older game in a series that has evolved drastically since then... Like with Pokemon FRLG and HGSS, they both had a perfect template of what the game mechanics and QOL should be like in order to modernize the experience. And they can recreate the world around that instead of sticking to a "faithful" direction which ends up being a $80 texture pack.

I don't want to experiment with weapons until I find the one to upgrade, I literally just want to use all of them with no investment.
If you think that doesn't make sense, think about armour, nobody is arguing that armour should require upgrades before you put it on your guy.
I don't see a point where you explain why it's good to require late game weapon drops to be upgraded 10 times to be viable in the late game.
I never said game is bad of course it's my favourite game since Dark Souls. Otherwise I would have bigger complaints than the upgrade system.

I think everything you said is true, still I liked the game when I played it for PSP but yeah it was pretty braindead and I question why this game is being remade again and again.

just kidding. everybody does this here, I just don't fully get why. I used to live like 5 minutes from a lake where I could take a sandwich up the hill and it was a relaxing way to spend a couple hours. unbeknownst to me, people were driving for over an hour just to do the same thing. I think people who don't play games must be really bored.

I should caveat, hardest non-optional boss and my most recent experience was a no summons melee build. which again was the most fun for me but this boss was the biggest pain in the ass.

What's wrong with your weapon leveling along with you. Also, it's infinitely simpler than it used to be. Look at this chart.

Because by the end of the game you got like 100 of them and can only use like 1. You could easily fix this by getting rid of weapon upgrades and keeping enchantments. Using the same weapon for 50 hours is boring but it's kind of optimal with the amount of mats that you get. You can get more but only after you need them ex. after Godskin Duo you get the bell to buy more materials that you really could have used to experiment with solutions to the hardest boss in the game.

Perhaps something could drop that you could slot into your weapons like FF7 Materia to make them stronger. if you wanted to use a different weapon you could just make a materia loadout, maybe the Drake Sword would be more powerful but less materia slots.

Similarly, summons. You have to upgrade your summons or they are unusable and suck complete ass. So it's hard to keep multiple summons upgraded and that just railroads you into using the strongest all-purpose one over and over (mimic) again instead of a different one for each boss fight, as needed, since after all they have their own advantages.

I had this idea like 1 week after playing Elden Ring, but why not just have a summoning stat, if you level it you could use any summon at higher strength. If you want to play without summons you will be a little stronger to compensate.

I get that it's typical for RPGs to be one-direction just make a choice, make a build and live with it. But open world with so much loot it sucks that it's all useless.

Now, how well that works in ER, I can't speak to. It's great in Dark Souls because they're short enough games (once you know what you're doing) that replaying with a new build is easy and fun. My understanding (I still haven't played it) is that ER is longer, so new playthroughs are a bit more daunting and that philosophy might not be as appropriate.

probably my #1 major issue, most loot is absolutely pointless because you will never ever use it. forget weapons and gear specced for other stats you are not building, there is not much point in picking up even stuff for your primary stat. my most powerful character went through the game dual wielding a great club and a morningstar, having boss weapons and special weapons available specifically for str builds, useless to me since I couldn't even fully upgrade either of my existing weapons (since I had 2). idiotic that upgrading weapons is still a mechanic if you ask me, it has been shit since Demons.

Yes, I agree. Hong Kong is great too though if you like Tokyo but want something totally different at the same time. More density and liveliness, the little mountains and islands right next to the city (vs sprawl of Tokyo mega city), better views, hiking, beaches, taking the ferries, English is more commonly spoken. Hotter weather. Hotter girls.

Compared to Tokyo, it is less clean, more expensive, less day/weekend trips, and doesn't have as good train coverage.

I prefer Tokyo but it's not that far ahead. lots of people prefer HK. and It is part of China of course but still has a separate border control which does not require a Visa from most countries. Worth visiting if you like cities like Tokyo.

I am hyped for the DLC, was thinking of doing an anticipation playthrough too but I thought I might as well wait for it to actually come out. wouldn't want to get burned out a couple weeks before release day

Seamless Co-op mod was awesome. I beat the game 5 times maybe? Got every major ending and all achievements, then once more in co-op.

it's not like the exact amount is set in stone, but typically if you ask women what ring they want, they will select an amount that makes you uncomfortable but is not so high that it's financially infeasible. basically it's a test of commitment.

and are you sure nobody wants to spend that much on a ring? even a mall ring you could easily spend 10-20k, then you start looking at brand name stuff like Tiffany which is not all that rare.

I am a big fan of Fire Emblem and FFT. But honestly I found the UO demo really boring so far. I don't know how long it takes to open up.

I get the point, you have these autobattler unit groups where you can program if-else conditions and change their formations to change the outcome of battles. So far, I don't feel like I have really gotten to do this though. I just move my guys around and they steamroll every battle. I am not even using the Jeigan character and it is still pretty uninteresting. I have already started skipping combat animations and I'm only around level 5.

I played the first part and couldn't get into it. It looks good but it seems like they made the game into a generic ARPG with fetch quests and shit. When the trilogy is out and on sale I might try again.

same. the combat really disappointed me too. I have played the newest Fire Emblem, Dragon Quest, SMT games which are still faithful to their RPG roots and they are still getting better every time and more popular with every release. I just don't understand why FF must continue to move in this direction to button mashing combat when their most successful games were the exact opposite.

good luck, hopefully you can find something really captivating to do. the only period where I was consistently sober on weekdays in the last 5 years was when I was grinding competitive games daily.

In grade 6, I went to the first basketball team practice. I was quite bad at the sport but I liked to go shoot hoops out in my driveway when my parents were arguing (frequently), and so by some miracle I was the only one in practice to score a free throw. After the tryout, I was bullied by the rest of the guys on the team and I went to cry in the bathroom for a bit and never joined a sports team ever again.

All of my middle school stories will kind of sound like this. I hated middle school so much guys.
