this makes me think of Motoaki Takenouchi - Gosling from G.T.R. this feels like they were trying to make something really banal but messed up because they were too good at music to do that: I think I would have said this even without knowledge of what game it originates. it just sounds that way in my opinion.

I gushed enough about mari yamaguchi in para's old mm topic and my music ranking topic lol. a pretty good rep of why this is my favorite 2a03 only nes ost (specifying that because Lagrange point just happens to actually be my favorite nes ost but that likedoesn't count)

I like the idea of post-rock more than I like most actual post-rock, but this incarnation actually hits for me.

this is really wonderfully surreal world tour between dream and virtual space and impactful historic architecture. it's actually highly reminiscent of some of my favorite non-vgm (lots of off brand worldbeat & new age & just general electronic approaches that incorporate the sorta stuff heard here, down to some of the exact same loops i think). i love the total no holds barred uncaring on whether one layer fits at all with another

this match is so close. honestly one of the single ones in r1 where i like both tracks the highest extent. I hope they both win!!! the main deciding element is that while this has higher highs, they're mostly random bits of the song (especially the polyrhythmic tuned perc intro, and any bits with tense intervals in the vocals), I like Barcelona more consistently throughout

the song playing on the OTHER side of Gahreesen Corridors (ze outside). I actually don't even prefer this one that much less than 6th fav vgm song nearly tied for 1st gahreesen corridors to the point I almost want to have it winninf bracket c in my favs nracket but chose challenge vaguely impulsively (newness factor biasing me toward exciting novelty) buti mean i tjink it shouldn't be surprising i like this even if you disn't know I was obsessed with myst. the rhythmic ambiguity in the 2nd half is highly stimulating while still retaining this majestic abandoned-ancint-tech-inZ-jungle atmosphere, impenetrable by intrusion, but inarguably with SOMEthin going on yo. This track jumping to being my 2nd fav uru song after the one i got in before is kinda recent, but I always liked it. just only comprehended recent that I REALLy like it to potential fav song in contest tier. but i might say that about a lot of songs lately as i am uncertain about what i most like. importantly though I have to say, this is a very deeply meaningful track to me. Gahreesen is also notably possibly my favorite location in any video game, but I cant fathom being as passionate about it if all the music to it weren't this cool.

There's obviously some stuff there that I like, so there's a chance that I might hit something good by accident & it'll serve for the rare times when I want to try something really different instead of just playing my old songs on an infinite loop.
