ClayGuida posted...
Ratings truly don't matter. Raw is hitting all time lows annually, yet WWE is making more money than ever before.

The difference is, and looking at just the rating here and not the other metrics listed in Maze's post, you have to look at Raw's (and Dynamite's) ratings in comparison to other shows at the same day/time, and not compare it to what the numbers used to be, as there are plenty of examples of Shows that have been on for years (Simpsons, Survivor, American Idol, etc) and their ratings are no where close to what they used to be. It's the circle argument of ratings for everything is going down.

Which is why the number of viewers isn't as important as the actual rating/share itself.

But looking at other metrics, like attendance, there's a Twitter account that tracks attendance, and WWE is constantly at or above the same number that they were the last time they hit an arena, where AEW has been going down on repeat visits.

Fans shouldn't really be all that concerned about the ratings, as long as they are good enough to stay on the station and timeslot they currently are on.

If you enjoy what they're doing, then keep watching, but once (and I'm not saying it will happen) it gets moved from 8 to 10, and then 10 to Midnight, and then moved from Wednesday at midnight to Saturday and 1am, and then moved to one of the sister stations, and then the next thing you know it's on AXS with TNA, and then you can only watch it using the AEW App...

I think you get my drift.

I enjoy AEW. I watch it on DVR delay every week. I'm going to Forbidden Door. And I still think they are "Safe" in the spot they are, ratings wise. But like nay show I enjoy, the last thing I wasn't to see is dwindling ratings.

TopicWould you rather take a shorter week, or a few separate weeks off work?
bigblu89
06/21/24 10:00:16 AM

I've done both. I prefer taking single days.

I get 20 days, and I rarely get sick. I used to use my days for vacation and if my kids got sick and had to stay home from school.

But with my wife now working from home and the kids being older, I don't use any days when they get sick, so I usually have 10-12 days left to take going into October. So I'll usually take a Thursday or Friday off each week to end the year, as they tend to be the lightest days, work-wise.

I prefer the single days becasue of the type of job I have along with how my household is set up.

A "staycation" doesn't really interest me, unless I have a project to work on at home. Otherwise I just kinda bum around the house, listening to my wife make conference calls with her co-workers.

Combine that with the fact that the kind of job I have, becasue of how people get covered when they're out, the longer I'm out, the longer it takes me to catch up when I get back. So taking 1-2 days is A LOT easier to recover from that taking a whole week.

So, which is a better way to go? Watch in the order they were released, starting with Iron Man 1, or in chronological order, starting with Captain America: The First Avenger?

No, I was playing the weird game of not wanting to type a long post on my phone, so I was trying to get my point across in fairly short posts with the assumption that they would hopefully still be clear. That was obviously not the case.

Ultimately it doesn't really matter how well a person understands the economy. The relevant thing is that if a person is having trouble surviving, they are going to be understandably upset at the things causing that trouble. For a lot of people, there is an option between being homeless or paying ridiculous amounts of rent that they can barely afford, if they even can afford it. In my current situation I am very lucky in that I have extremely low rent as a result of renting a basement from some friends of mine, and even then, I wouldn't be able to afford it if I didn't have a roommate to split it with. And I always have the option of moving back in with my parents. Plenty of people don't have that, and that's why so many people complain about landlords, and here you are calling them cringe for that.

I think the issue, not just in this situation but many, is the blanket statements of "All ______ are evil".

Like in the example in my OP. The lady is renting the house basically at cost. Charging just enough to cover the utilities being used, property taxes, and (I assume) a small maintenance fee. Not making any profit at all, and providing a young couple an affordable place to stay while they save up for a place of their own. She wasn't some large corporation that owned a dozen apartment complexes.

And she was STILL getting shit online for it, simply becasue she was playing the role of "landlord" to this couple.

I say hypothetical because I saw it on Threads, and who knows if it's an actual story or made up for engagement.

But...

Woman was getting shit online because she owns her home that she's still paying off, has a few years left. Her and her husband still work. Daughter is still in college, lives at home when school is out.

Woman's mother dies, she inherits her mom's (fully paid off) house.

Woman is now renting the Mother's house to a friend of the daughter's and her boyfriend. Neither are in school and are both working. She is charging them just enough to cover the bills and taxes on the house. Making no profit. She doesn't want to sell the house because she wants her daughter to "buy" the house from her (at way below market) once she's done with school and is ready to be living on her own.

Woman was getting KILLED online for being greedy for not putting the house on the market and letting someone that's ready to buy a house NOW buy it.
