I think there are parts in Fellowship where it notes Bilbo wore the ring sometimes. Like to sneak away on hikes or disappear if he encountered folks he wanted to avoid. Not like constant wear but he did use it some.

That is if my memory serves me right. Someone can correct me if I am wrong.

I haven't seen it but I thought one of the storylines was how Elves and Dwarves view the passage of time differently

It is also a huge general plot with whole Gift of Men concept that permeates so much of the whole cycle of stories from Middle Earth.

I've not seen the Amazon show either so I dunno about it.

Hobbits age a bit slower than men. Elves basically don't die unless killed. Dwarves live much longer than men.

Bilbo was considered abnormally old for a Hobbit at the point of his departure in Fellowship. Not like impossibly old, but oddly old and spry. He was 111 or something.

I presumed because Golem had the ring so long its lingering influence was much stronger even without it. This would include both its psychological as well as physiological impacts on him. Hence, his continued slowed aging even when it is not on his person.

Bilbo still ages slow after giving up the ring despite holding it a vastly shorter time than Golem. Bilbo was already basically ancient when he gives it up. He still lives a long time after giving it up too.

There's a line between denuded and oversaturation. I want to be clear, both have their place in storytelling.

However I do miss dramatic lighting and how colors can be used to tell stories. I am generally tired of media looking washed out.

Summer job while in grad school. My family owned a small, independent gas station/convenience store. I worked the register and as a maintenance person.

It was an important life experience for me both in dealing with the public and respect for those thankless workers that keep society functioning.

Man I was so hyped for Too Human. The early stuff on that game seemed like it would be awesome. I remember downloading trailers for it and following it on my 360. Got the demo finally and was like yeah this is bad.

Yeah I don't like it but many hotels charge for parking.

The more dystopian one is hotels that won't let people with local addresses stay at them.

This happened to me like 4 years ago when my ac broke in the middle of summer. I couldn't stand it. Booked like 4 nights at a local holiday inn, paid online, and then showed up. They looked at my ID and turned me down. Refunded the money. Said they don't let locals stay.

I learned this has been becoming more common the past decade. It was insane. I researched it online and I can't find a solid reason other than locals trash hotels or hire prostitutes more.

I see several. Not at first but I do see several lines of them. I noticed when I blanked my focus on it.

I've helped skin and prepare deer for butchering before as a kid. My father and uncle could actually do the butchering. I never learned how.

I think I could pick the basic skills up but proficient butchering is hard. Dad got tired of it all and would just give his kills away as so to not need to deal with it all.

Reading about Remojadas. I have been on a kick for several months reading about the Olmec and their influence on the development of meso American cultures.

Remojadas is part of the Veracruz culture which in turn was an offshoot of the epi-olmec culture. The latter was the successor or a later direct permutation of the Olmec.

Generic public school in flyover country. The nearest private school was like over and hour away.

Stone Cold was better at both imo. Stone Cold crashing beer cans and then dumping the contents all over himself while preening atop a turn buckle is like the best moment of the era.

I went to my 5 year and my 8 year.

The five year one was fun. The eight year one less so. My 20 year just happened last year, but I didn't bother going .

I do when I'm home for memorial day and 4th of july, and veterans. Our family goes around all the veterans in our family and put up really nice flower displays.

separately, we do really nice flower displays at Christmas and and usually around 4th of july (summer displays for non vets).

this is a big thing for us, and usually part of my duties when I am home over the 4th and christmas

It's around a dozen graves total, not all are vets though.

I don't know if it's cultural or what. It's really common where I grew up. which was the rural rustbelt. Most of the local graveyards decorate veterans graves with flags and such even without family intervention.

I grew up in the rural rustbelt. the economy has been garbage since the mid eighties there. It's still bad there now too.
