Draje and CrimsonFireball's reactions in particular to your friend telling the real, properly-told stories was priceless.

>_>

<_<

Was Draje in the chat...? I thought it was Proudclad. Am I misremembering?
I know Shuriko and Draje stopped by a few times, but I don't remember if it came to my attention that my friend told them, too, about all of it.
I might just not be remembering well.

I dunno maybe Australia or Germany.

I wish you'd tell more of your stories and experiences in topics related to Japan, since you seem like one of the only foreigners who legitimately integrated well and understands our society.

I can only imagine the jealousy if you told the story of taking the high school Japanese girl's virginity, or the maid cafe paying you to come see them.

Before anyone says it, regarding the first story, she'd just turned 18. But the story itself surrounding and leading up to it is interesting and funny af

........ :/
That still sounds really bad without context... And I'd rather talk about games and stories and stuff than all that >_>

Either Singapore, France, Japan, or China.

Have native friends in each country who, while I lived in each one, like me so much that they got and actively maintain job offers for me to this day in case I decide I want to come back. Actively talk to them, too, and they're always asking when I can come or move back.

Might choose Japan since the yen is weak, then we can organize a multi-country shebang, especially since last time, I didn't get to introduce everyone in person.

Being socially capable and likeable has its perks. People are the same all over the world :3

Some HR people on social media have been saying the same thing, and I agree with it. It essentially boils down to:

"If you can't interview without your parents, then I'm going to assume you can't work without them either."

The fact that some in this topic are trying to defend it is just... Dang, how sheltered ARE you??? xD

It's funny because a lot of us Japanese don't even put our country that highly any more. Especially the younger ones. even more if they visited other countries. So many younger Japanese are prone to moving to another country and never coming back because of it except for visits.

And that's not even getting into the declining interest in our own products and culture beyond a surface level by our own youth. More interested in foreign stuff nowadays. because most of our stuff sucks now. Way more interested in foreign stuff and stories and media.

I remember when I was in Japan, and it blew my mind how much more eager they were to talk about foreign stuff than native stuff.

I remember my penpal even saying I should use my love of Disney to my advantage. She said,
"Only some Japanese love Japanese stuff. but EVERY Japanese loves Disney."

And it kind of snowballed from there. The amount of friends I made talking about foreign cities and cultures was interesting, and the same thing happened with them: they appreciated that I didn't talk about Japanese stuff, because a lot of Japanese, realistically, aren't into it outside of REALLY popular stuff.

They were even impressed that I could tell that Japanese were only "nice" because of the culture, not because they themselves are nice. I remember one friend telling me, "You're probably the only socially aware foreigner I've ever met." because of it, and how that's why they usually describe Japan as safe, but not as nice.

Then when you spend enough time there, you realize their buildings don't really look much different from, say, America. They just have Japanese letters on it and maybe some pop culture characters in the bigger cities.
Now Singapore, Switzerland, Greece or some Chinese cities on the other hand? I loooooved showing them photos of that, because their eyes would light up and immediately start talking about planning trips because of how cool the cities looked xD

They still send me messages like crazy, too, even small updates like some new food they learned to cook or, for example, when they started watching The Boys or finish a season.

But yeah, it was pretty enlightening to see all the holes in the culture. I can see why raising a kid in it, especially with all this global exposure to other cultures and media, doesn't seem appealing nowadays. When some of them explained the reasonings, it was...actually pretty sad ._.
I had no idea their systems up to and including adulthood were THAT rigid and stressful.

No it doesn't

There is a pretty big fandom in Japan for the western version.

Make some legitimate friends and you might learn about it.

He said you're less likely to find a job if you have a hard to pronounce foreign name. That sucks.

That sounds like most countries in the world tbh But IIRC America tends to be, relatively speaking, the best of them in regards to giving opportunities to foreigners.

Society would get screwed so hard without them.
Ever seen cop body cam videos? One of the best things about those getting released is just how much it's opened up people's eyes to just how much they are needed, and how much cops deal with on society's behalf.

There's a reason when there's trouble, the vast majority--even those against cops--first instinct is to call cops and let them know. Because they do NOT want to deal with that crap.

And you're telling me you want to get rid of them and have the average joe deal with all that insanity... lmfao good luck with that.
If they're that violent, difficult, and combative with law enforcement, yeah... not much is gonna get resolved if it's just two average joes fighting without the threat of detainment and arrest looming over their head.

The police system that majority of leftists criticize has only existed for like, 100-150 max years and was born from union busting and slave patrols. Civilization has existed for thousands of years without it, we can survive thousands more with a different system.

Law enforcement systems have existed for thousands of years.
If a more primitive form gets implemented (Which it likely would WHEN society realizes "Oh shit, we NEED to do something about all these people breaking the law so boldly without threat of law enforcement), it will likely be more brutal and physical than the modern police system for a good while, until we just get the modern police system again.
