Give you an example. I had this tin lunch box with graphics from the original 90s Transformers cartoon on it. Super sick. It eventually broke though. • In very recent years Dr Mike's channel has blown up bigtime and he's gone from being everyone's favourite science nerd to celebrity influencer.
• This transition seems to have gone to his head or maybe the pressure to pump out content all the timehas been a factor, but the channel has started to go downhill
• Mike's attitude has become increasingly odd and egotistical. He started a second channel to discuss his libertarian views and has been going off on rants about all kinds of weird stuff
• People started to doubt his position as an authority, especially drawing attention to the fact that he has been using his status as an authority as evidence that he's right.
• The above video arrives and completely demolishes his PhD. Riddled with statistical anomalies, grammatical and spelling errors, obvious cutting/pasting, overall presents no new knowledge or cohesive argument (athletic people are athletic, fin), excessively verbose. How the hell did this pass?
• The video above is actually far more rigorous and cohesive than anything in the paper
• the paper was so bad that now everyone wants to know what the hell is going on in the entire field of exercise science institutions
• Omg TL:DR - the most respected authority/communicator in the field of exercise science got his PhD from a thesis so bad it should have been a failed bsc paper and it's a huge L for the culture of science-based fitness content

A lot of people are completely content at consuming products without knowing or caring about whatever the creator is or does. I won't be surprised if Neil Gaiman works are still having sales on whatever shop that is still selling.

I think a genuine issue people have is that it's impossible to disentagle basically anything in a modern context from some kind of cruelty in the supply chain somewhere. "There is no ethical consumption under capitalism" is a destructive but slightly valid point, I think.

Come on man, I liked the first book and movie series was enjoyable, but it's time for people to finally move on from the Harry Potter franchise. There are plenty of other whimsical fantasy series out there, that are just as good, if not much better than Harry Potter.

American fans have always been obnoxious at the Ryder Cup but seems like the recent political climate has brought things to an entirely new level. 1st one was OK but I didn't like how one run you'd get all the good weapons then the next run you'd get nothing but shit. I know that's the point of it but it's just not my cup of tea. Dead Cells was like that when it first released but they made it feel a lot fairer when they completed the first main set of levels.

On the flipside, there is a certain kind of giddiness when your run is going insanely well. Like when you somehow get the dream combination of weapon/boon/upgrades and you're aware that you're probably never going to be this lucky again. it's quite addictive.

You think it's implausible? Consider that

1. The left has been increasingly making calls for aggressive and violent defense against fascism (e.g. all those times people on CE have been saying that the only moral response to being confronted with a nazi is to punch him, etc)
