The idea is, if you mind control him, he'll know it was you as soon as it wears off, including your name & address. Then he'll control your actions for an hour in an act of revenge.

Hmm, I can easily mitigate the damage from him controlling me for an hour, but him knowing my address would be a bigger issue.

TopicWhy would aliens look like humans
rick_alverado

Most aliens don't look like Humans. Martians and Lartians mostly do (with a few key differences like skin colors), as they are technically Humans who's ancestors left Earth in the past. Next closest would be Archons, as they are have the same basic configuration, a torso, a head, two arms and two legs, but the torso itself is pretty different. But then you have something like the Frulu with six legs, two arms, a tail ending in a blade, or the Cardaillians who kind of look like two-headed dragons but without wings. The Cardaillians actually show that you don't specifically need opposable thumbs, or even hands, in order to get to the point of space travel, as they use their prehensile tongues for tool usage.

teenager movies are movies made with zero artistic intent and intended solely to make money. generally about some geek stuff like video games or comic books or some scifi/fantasy ip. likely a reboot or remake or spinoff of an already existing piece of media.

grownup movies are typically about normal people doing normal shit. sometimes even made with actual filmmaking craft and are passionate unique stories. generally described by people who like the above movies as 'pretentious'. also 'sleazy' if it includes a sex scene apparently.

Hmm, in that case I don't believe I have ever seen either a teenager movie or an adult movie. I don't think I've ever seen a movie with zero artistic intent, but I have also never seen a movie about normal people.

My first job started at minimum wage, I got a few raises in the first few years, and then just stopped getting raises, so minimum wage was starting to catch up to me.

My current job started at about minimum wage (might have been a tiny bit more, but not by much). I get a raise every 500 hours worked, but the raises are small enough that for a while there minimum wage kept catching up to me, but last year my union made a new agreement, so that when minimum wage goes up, all of our wages go up by the same amount. It was also retroactive, so we all (other than recent hires) got a wage increase when it happened.

As a note, I live in Canada, and specifically Manitoba, so minimum wage here is currently $15.30/hour, and it goes up every October.

Laws are made by people, and can be changed by people. In theory there are processes to change those laws, but those processes only have to be followed if people are actually held accountable when they don't.

Some new skins? What fairy tale land are you living in where they'd be that generous? Mayhaps you meant "new skins added as DLC" in addition to paying the full price.

Naw, most (all?) of the Wii U games that got ported to Switch had new content and any former DLC in the base game. And I don't think any of them even had any DLC, other than Mario Kart 8 Deluxe which didn't even get DLC added until years after it came out. Also, not counting Breath of the Wild since that was a simultaneous release on both systems.

To all of the people acting surprised that Sony would censor something that Nintendo didn't, I'd recommended looking back to 2002, when the game BMX XXX came out for Xbox, PS2, and GameCube, and it was the PS2 version which got censored. Nintendo will sometimes censor their own games in the localization process, but they haven't really been strict on third party stuff since the SNES.

The wild part of it to me is the former reasonable (I get that its subjective) politicians, high in the party, that are doing the same thing. Rubio for example; in six years he has gone from a somewhat reasonable conservative to a rigged trial idiot.

No leadership on the right at all anymore. I thought more people would be speaking out about a felon being the face of the party and trying to calm the insanity but none of them are doing it.

It's the sunk cost fallacy. They've put so much into making him the face of the party that they feel they can't back out now, so the only option is to double down.

There's a decent chance that I would. I currently rent a basement, and while it's a fine place to live, I wouldn't mind owning my own place if I could just straight up buy a place without having to take out a mortgage. Plus I like collecting stuff, and while I currently have room for all of my stuff, I'm eventually going to run into space issues.

As for how much I'd spend, that's hard to say. Looking at house prices in my area right now, I'd probably try to stay under $400,000 as that already gives me plenty of decent options. That's Canadian dollars though, so assuming the $1 million refers to USD, that's less than a third of it that I'd be spending on a house. But even if the $1 million is CAD, it's at least still less than half.
