Not 100% sure if serious, but its a reference to a specific clip from the song Miracles.

Been a while since I watched S1, but I do feel like I remember liking S1 better than I liked S2.

Immediately off hand for S2
Pugsley and the zombie just felt kind of dumb. Like I know the family is weird and likes things considered off by normal people, but like the zombie wasn't even subtle and he just didn't care at all. Normally its they like weird things that only affect themselves negatively or are rude, the zombie was just blatantly dangerous to others. I don't feel like I am wording this very well, but something just felt off here.

The whole camp episode with the knock off boy scouts felt like there was supposed to be a a multiple episode arc there or something that just got condensed into 1/2 an episode and felt like the whole thing just could have been cut.

I also wish they hadn't re-used the villain from the first season and had opened up the world more. That arc seemed resolved enough before.

Yeah, the way they are setting it up I think the author has set himself up where if he wants to drag out the later floors to keep the series going he can, but he has also himself up that the later floors could fall apart/go really quick if he wanted. The fact no one has ever made it that far gives him a lot of flexibility, and the game like nature also opens up something like 16 just being one final shop, 17 being a boss rush in the cabaret (or just a joke as they blow through the cabaret), and 18 just being a discussion/last boss fight.

I am not fully caught up yet with the series, but that is the impression I have at this point. I could also see it dragging on beyond the game if he really wants where they end up leading a revolt of some kind against the corrupt system, but I don't really see it going that way.

Batuque is an enjoyable series, so it has that going for it.

This is a stupid little thing, and I can't remember the exact episode, and it might be fixed by now, but I watch stuff with subtitles on frequently due to everything having terrible sound mixing, and there was a scene in I think the last season where they were reading off a phone number, and the subtitles had a completely different number than the one they actually read off and it really bothered me >.>

Is that particular stretch of road long/straight? Basically roads have expansion/control joints in them where they are cut so that they can expand with the temperature, but the joints can fill with dirt that gets compacted over time. The amount of growth it undergoes from a temperature is a function of the length of the run and the change in temperature, so if you have a very long straight run that growth from temperature change can reach pretty significant amounts, and with no functioning expansion joints can impose a huge compressive force through the slab. Its only real option to make room for that extra length is then to buckle, which tends to be an instant failure mode and not really a gradual thing.

[edit] its been a while since I have done any real road/bridge design, but same basic principal as street creep which is something we end up dealing with every once in a while. Basically, you don't want to have your driveway parallel to a long straight road and coming off the end of it because a lot of cities aren't great with maintenance (or technically responsible depending on HOA stuff), and often times an even easier failure method is that instead of buckling it can just push someone's driveway into their garage slab and then push their garage slab through the back of their garage. That does at least tend to be a more gradual failure than the video here.

I had a similar experience. I used to read a ton of books. Then in high school I had to read The Awakening by Kate Chopin. That basically put me off books for like 2 decades.

I actually met someone recently who pronounced it Bag-els like she did and it really messed me up because I thought that was just something they made up for her in the show.

I have been enjoying it. Only (2) cov10 wins so far. I am a little worried I will run into the same problem I had in the first one where once I find a single method that works for a clan setup I just end up trying to force it every time which isn't really the right way to do things.

So far Mushroom+Lazarus is the combo I understand how to break easily/the most, but honestly it is mostly the Mushroom half where I can probably use that to carry most of the other clans...

I have one more Pyreheart to unlock (the train Stewart damage one), and I have a feeling I know what that will unlock since I know some spoilery stuff.

I doubt I will ever get that last card frame unlocked though. I am sure at some point on that journey I will get too frustrated with a clan combo that doesn't click for me and then get sidetracked too long to come back to the game.

You know throwing stones in glass houses is a generally bad idea... if I was him I wouldn't be trying to call someone else out on skin quality...

I bought a used copy of ebay ~15 years ago when I started building a PS2 collection, invested a lot of time into it and was following a guide to help with some of the tricky recruitment (which makes it even slower), but then like ~60% through the game there was a minor scratch or something on the CD, so everytime a specific zone music kicked on for the specific area I had to go through it would freeze.

I remember enjoying it, but my backlog was so high and I didn't feel like getting another copy right away, so I moved onto the next game (might have been Rogue Galaxies or something), and then just never got back to it...

Which also reminds me that I was going through Tales of Rebirth recently, but then a family emergency pulled me away from it for a week right as I got to the start of the last arc, and then I just kind of jumped onto the next thing without ever finishing it and need to go back and do that soon >.>

Pssh, way to spoil like 3/4 of the dialog in the game.

To be fair though, I actually did enjoy some of the combat system in the sequal, and tenebre was cool, and there were some funny skits (the one where Emil starts to think he might be in love with Richter is possibly the funniest skit in any Tales game). I think with 3 relatively simple changes they could have made it a significantly better game.

1) Balance the monster party members better
2) Make the returning characters regular characters instead of the weird fixed equipment stuff
3) Remove like 80% of the flashbacks to that one line of dialog.

City of heroes and villains was amazing. I came up with such a stupid origin story for both my hero and villain yet I got nothing but love and support from those that read it.

These games had one of the friendliest communities I ever got to experience, lol.

COH/COV isn't fully dead, there is an open server that has the publishers blessing to be up. I probably haven't logged in for a couple months, but there were still regular Hami raids and TFs being run daily fairly recently. There are a couple other servers as well that I know less about, but Homecoming (which is the one with the official OK) is where I settled in. The COH reddit has instructions if you want to jump in

Games I miss would be
Valkyrie Sky (a shmup mmo but it was never big or great)
Rusty Hearts (An action MMO, was fun until the terrible scaling at higher levels)
Solforge (the original one, not the crappy new one. Someone did make an online version with all the original cards available where you can play the AI with a huge database of old premade decks from back in the day. I still play that regularly, but you can only do VS another human locally, and the AI is pretty easy to beat)

Yeah, I knew about the recent Homestar stuff, but I didn't know Ask a Ninja was back, have to go dig that up now.

Not that I want to be the guy that asks for a second game or anything, but if the codes for Beneath Oresa never comes back and Nomad Survivor is available I would take that instead. I definitely prefer Beneath Oresa though if the codes ever start working again.

I have been keeping track of my home page lately since people keep bringing this up, and it is consistently almost entirely accounts I am actively subscribed to, or stuff related to literally the last thing I watched unless you start scrolling down for pages... and honestly I just go straight to the subscription tab unless the daily upload from someone I am subscribed to that I am looking for is at the top of the page anyway.

I just went just now to take stock, and of the first 9 videos it lists (which for some reason already requires scrolling to fully see since they seem to have switched to giant icons), 7 of them are accounts I am subscribed to, 1 of them is an account that I honestly thought I was subscribed to but wasn't (They do a lot of group streams with someone I do follow and cover a very similar selection of games), and the last 1 is from someone I have never heard of, but is of them discussing a game I have been watching a lot of stuff on lately.

I would say that spread is pretty consistent with what I am used to seeing. I think in the past ~2 years I remember banning (or saying not interested in or whatever you tube calls it) to maybe ~3 rightwing things I saw pop up. When I was just relying on the algorithm to keep the relevant channels on top I would see this stuff, but since I started subscribing to things it really hasn't been an issue.

I recently did an X-files re-watch, its definitely a bit hit/miss and the later stuff is kind of meh (aside from the were-monster episode which is one of my favorites of the entire series). When the series first came out I was probably a little young to watch it and preferred the MOTW episodes to the "main" story line. I did the re-watch wondering if that would change now that I am an adult and it didn't.

Whoops, my bed, totally misread that. Don't have much experience there other than the original Tuskihime, which is in the Type-Moon Family. I didn't think it was bad, but I didn't love it either, but part of that might just have been the age of it.

If you like big cast series I enjoyed the Ishura manga/anime (season 2 on going now) enough that I caught up on the translated LNs and I enjoyed those. I think they may have peaked already (there is some stuff in the later novels where it feels like they introduced something just to wipe them out fairly quickly to pad out the main storyline a bit), volume 8 ended on an interesting enough note I am looking forward to more translations still.
