what was the counter to Sliver decks?

Control.
Any sort of board wipe kills them. Counter their protection. Stop the especially deadly enablers.

Slivers is fundamentally a creature deck, and they kill you by attacking you. If you can stop that, you can stop them.

The specific question you're asking is common across a lot of different creature types, they're called Lords, from the Lord of Atlantis card.

But the implied question is Slivers.

I'm about to run Delta Green: Impossible Landscapes for some people in person, so I've got a bucket of handouts ready to print out, and they've already done a session zero. It should be good.

I'm also running through Eclipse Phase 2e online. They fixed a lot my mechanical problems with the system, so I'm happy to show more people the setting.

I know people here think I'm crazy for always saying this, but YouTube is just s*** entirely. Nearly every video genre is longer than it needs to be, and much less interesting/informative/necessary than the creator would have you believe.

What is the point of recommendations anyway? The way I see it, it's either because you just want to watch some videos to kill time, in which case you should re-evaluate if you are properly valuing your time, or you are expecting some revelatory video to show up, which is something I've personally given up on years ago. Not that I never watch recommendations, but I don't expect anything out of them. I'd say overall you're better off only using YouTube when you have a specific thing to look up, and maybe watching your subscriptions if you still like them enough.

Oh the recommended stuff has always been rough, the only thing I use that stuff for is new music. Which, it's fairly good for music, but anything relating to actual entertainment is done through my subscription feed. I've never gotten anything good from there, other than channels I intentionally ignore.

Unless you're talking about the claims, everything that everyone is talking about, is irrelevant.
The abstract is not the patent.

The description is not the patent.
The flow charts is not the patent.

The full legal language is the claims.

Nope, totally fine with that. I don't want to design missiles that optimize post-nuke EMP resetting to make sure to hit their target, or laser systems designed to blind people.

Both Marvel and DC are essentially vanity projects for Disney and WB at this point, used as idea farms for movies, cartoons, and merch (and bad idea farms at that). They're loss leaders, not viable products in and of themselves like they used to be. Indie comics are still somewhat capable of telling worthwhile stories, but aren't necessarily capable of staying viable without solid distribution.

Hey it'll be fine, they still pay their artists a per-page rate from the 90s.

ParanoidObsessive posted...
As for digital comics, the problem remains that there doesn't really seem to be a market for it, in spite of both Marvel and DC offering digital marketplaces. Part of that might be because it completely eliminates one aspect of comics that has driven sales for years (the collector's market), but also because in the modern era there are always better alternatives for anyone seeking out entertainment media (especially free media).

I honestly wouldn't be shocked if things cycle over to larger and fancier books, that's what a lot of webcomics do. Lower print run with higher margins. I can't exactly buy a Kill Six Billion Demons comicbook, but I can get the 100+ page books as a collection of stuff.

They're two separate tracks to me.
You can play a game, enjoy it for the artistic expression, the music, the story, the mechanics, and appreciate it for the systems.
You can also play a game that's about pushing the limit of the mechanics, the engine, the individual, and the people around there.

Swimming laps for fun and exercise doesn't mean training for the olympics.

Fantasy in videogames is basically permanently crippled.

Because videogames as an artform really started up in the 80s and 90s, it has only known a post-tolken and post-DnD fantasy world, so they're limited by Elf, Dwarf, Halfling/Hobbits, and then whatever demon-like race, and then the setting's individual twist.
After Game of Thrones became popular, and Dark Fantasy became more of a thing, it didn't translate well to videogames. The current trend is more of superhero fantasy, with mythic characters and ultra-powerful abilities.

Compared to scifi, where because there wasn't a monolith in terms of cultural touchstones for "It's like Tolken, But" style of setting, means that each setting can be much more unique.

There's no reason why Fantasy can't be fantastical, the framework allows for mythic-style, but, I don't think audiences like that. The Elder Scrolls is the last big fantasy setting, and that's been getting less and less fantastical each version.

It's analogous to wanting a family member to stay off drugs lol. The paintings were a drug to Aline and Alicia to help numb the pain of the real world, and the painting was slowly killing them both.

Yeah, right around the final area of act 3, I realized that too. The idea that you can never go home again hit everything hard.

Kinda, but it wasn't shown enough.

What I got out of Renoir's arguments weren't about being kind to the last bit of verso and moving on, but that he didn't want to lose more. So Alicia and Aline bounced off of that, saying to throw away what's left. The end result is the same though, throwing away the artifacts of childhood to start new. It's just the angle was different.

The story was also really good. I found my self somewhat rushing through the game just to get to the next part of the story. I liked all of the three different acts, however, I thought Act 3 was the weakest, but it was still good. I ended up choosing to preserve the painting (Maelles ending), but I watched the other ending on Youtube. Maelles ending is the bad ending in my opinion- its implied that Maelle never leaves the painting, and Im sure eventually she will end up like Aline - addicted to being in the painting with god like powers, and having to eventually be rescued by a family member.

Destroying the canvas truly brings closure to the family, but in doing so, all the of the people in the painted world were killed. Do you consider the people in the painted world to be alive? I dont know, they were all autonomous and had their own thoughts in feelings, so I would say yes. This concept has been explored to death in different mediums, but its still an interesting thought nonetheless.

One of my favorite elements is:
Everyone's fighting over the last bit of Verso, and both of them wanted to stop. Everyone was acting selfishly in different ways.

I really loved it. The characters are all great, the story is great, the ending is amazing, and the monster design might be on the top 10 greatest monster designs for videogames.
The mechanics are also solid, where you can absolutely break the game once you're far enough in, but also if you really look at stuff.
