Tbh Im not sure it's possible to fix whatever's wrong with me, if there's even anything wrong. Every time i've tried therapy they never bring up anything I didn't already know or think about. I've tried the "work on yourself and be content" thing and the peace from that mindset passes pretty quickly after you achieve it.

I think I'm just wired to be in perpetual, mildly-sad melancholy. Finding any lasting sense of joy/happiness isn't something I'm built for and I just have to accept that.

Could do meds but this mindset isn't bad enough to interfere with my daily life, so "self-medicating" with coffee or alcohol, or keeping my mind occupied with hobbies is fine.

I will say though that my mental health improved significantly a number of years ago when I deleted my social media pages. Fuck the algorithm, maaaaaan. I should probably close this CE account someday, but the social interaction here is actually pretty nice. <_<

I don't know you, I don't know your situation, and I'm not going to assume to, all that I can offer is something more generic that you need to figure out how to make work for you. Find a way to be important to someone or something. That doesn't mean romantically, necessarily. It means go out of your way to be of service. Volunteer at an animal shelter, or for old folks. Become a multimedia specialist for a video game league. Get involved in the pinball restoration scene. Become an expert on your town's history. The point is, is you become someone that other people have a use for, you might feel better. It worked for me.

Sorry, I was talking about the "bomb jump", the secret move/glitch that lets you do infinite jumps with the bomb, which allows you to sequence break. One of the first and easiest things you can do with the bomb jump is get the power bomb early (that's the power bomb, not bomb, which you get early on in Crateria regardless). You use the bomb jump instead of using the ice beam which typically allows you to climb the shaft in Brinstar that leads to the power bomb. With the bomb jump, you don't need the ice beam to do that (although you should get the ice beam later, anyway).

Anyway, I confused "spring ball" with the bomb jump because technically that's what you do with the bomb jump, you "spring", as a ball. Oh well. My post still stands, just replace "spring ball" with "bomb jump". And I was kidding about the "real gamer" thing, obviously.

If you're good, you can just wall jump up the red brinstar shaft to PBS, you technically don't need to bomb jump or ice beam, it's just precise

Piano is a terrible main melodic instrument as far as tone goes. It's much better suited as an accompaniment and chord-based rhythm instrument.

Most pop songs are at least 30 seconds too short and could benefit from more harmonic complexity and movement.

Playlists full of singles are the worst way to enjoy music.

Silent's highest win rate at high ascension is definitely poison, but if you go 0 cost silent you need a decent ratio of backflips to keep drawing and blocking. Blur and dodge and roll help as well, the idea with both decks is to use free offense and blow all your energy on defense or defense that helps you make offense.

Taking less damage > dealing more damage in most situations, but If an enemy gets stronger over time that math may not work out.

2 cost cards and 3 cost cards take a lot of committal, and need to be worth more than twice a 1 cost card to play in most cases. Similarly, 0 cost cards and energy generation is VERY good

I love the difficulty curve of the xcom games, but everything about the progression and resource management in 2 feels bad to me. Long war 2 is kinda novel at least, but I still vastly prefer lw 1.

Community hubs have always been and will always be loss leaders. Every attempt that I've seen to integrate free community hubs to a profitable core, save for if the hub is tied to a product, has been an abject failure. Gamefaqs has no product and I do not see a monetization strategy for its existing offerings. In other words, I do not think it's possible to make this place profitable or a growth vehicle, it's just a bad investment that has sentimental value, but not economic value

While I understand the financial necessity, I'm really not a fan of the "stop talking to each other and buy something" vibe that I'm getting.

It was a heroshooter/FPS moba that had to shutter after GDPR, but holy hell was it fun.

To be fair, unless you're in an area with particularly bad wifi, VOIP sounds way better than phone calls.

The more I work in the field, the more I like RPC-over-HTTP and gRPC instead of REST conventions. I feel like REST is just less suited to the way we use the web in 2024.
