iv had 3 run ins with cops and my friends (2 of whom are black) have also had several talks with them and as far as i know they never showed any kind of aggression and i live in fucking Flint Michigan.

MD is tricky since its a sequel to human revolution and they reference a lot of stuff from that game. its still enjoyable and you should be able to fallow everything, but expect some head scratching at points. if pc is an option they all tend to go on sale frequently for very cheap (and not to really knock MD, but id say its the worst DX game behind Invisible War).

while this is true, shooting shot out of a rifled shotgun barrel with no choke is going to up the spread pretty dramatically. at 15feet youre probably looking at a 9-12inch wide pattern.

id work on beefing up on home security before turning to a gun, especially if its your first and especially if youre in an apartment. get extra deadbolts, an alarm system, a proper safe to store valuables, renters insurance ect. that said im mixed on what to actually recommend. a handgun is more versatile, but its still a crap shoot that it wont go through several layers of drywall even factoring in "low penetrating" hallow point rounds. a shotgun as mentioned is bulky and loud as hell, but theres more options to choose from as far as ammo. #6 or 7 1/2 birdshot at 3-5yards will make anyone think twice or you can up that to #4 buckshot for some extra power or magnum loaded #1 shells. theres also special ammo to choose from.

you might also want to consider a taurus judge handgun which is basically a handgun that shoots .410 shotgun shells (preferably 00 buckshot in these) so you have some benefit of a maneuverable handgun with the spread of a shotgun. i know a few people who use one as there goto apartment defense.

if this is youre first gun though then id make sure you have some proper training first. take a handgun class and start on a .22 and work your way up. dont go from 0 to 60.

very nice collection. i only have one AK which is an Arsenal SAM7 SF-84. great gun. im generally not big on making up a huge collection (id rather spend the money on accessorys and ammo), but it would be nice to have a back up AK like i do with my AR's. i should of gotten a vepr when i could.

and what exactly would it change? at this point its impossible to instigate any type of weapons ban or even certain forms of gun control. theres just too many guns in circulation and its too easy for anyone to get them if they were banned. you can make them in your garage with a little knowledge and they can easily be brought up through mexico. not to mention somehow magically getting rid of the 300million already in the US and taking them away from 100+ million owners, some of which WOULD fight back in trying to do so.

the best thing you could do is put tighter restrictions on firearm abuse. harsher penalties for firearm crime and more accountability for police. make safety courses mandatory before buying, put tighter background checks on certain types of weapons, put a bigger emphasis on mental health checkups and heavily crack down on 12-18 very specific cities. this would drastically cut down on firearm violence and crime without drastically harming civilians rights.

guns also mean much more to the US than any other country. theyve been a part of our history since the beginning and are as much of a symbol than anything. while it might seem insane to many they represent freedom of which getting rid of part of that would cut off a hand (or atleast a few fingers) of this countrys ideals and foundation.

as far as the question at hand. yes iv had 2 friends who died to gang violence (i live very near to flint and detroit) and an uncle. no i wouldn't go full bore into a gun ban (tho honestly i would change a few things if i had my way). i dont blame the tool, i blame the person wielding it and theres more ways to deal with that than just getting rid of the item. if someone wants to harm others there going to find a way to do it. you have to stop the problem at the root.

i unironically love this game. its rough in spots, but theres so much amazing shit in it that still puts to shame most modern games in certain ways. how the characters are done, how your choices effect the game, how the intel system works, how important your stats and abilities are, how high the replay value is. i beat the game 5 times and always found something new. its gameplay can be wonky, but theres enough good there to carry it and make it memorable. just make sure you invest in atleast one firearm skill (pistols get a big recommendation, but pretty much everything is overpowered by the end).

half of people who goto collage dont do it for "higher education". they do it because everyone tells them to which they then take up useless courses which amount to nothing when they get out (and it doesnt help that the college forces you into to take bullshit courses just because) and all they have to show for it a massive pile of debt and maybe a few extra lines on a resume to help them get a job at home depot (and thats assuming they even finish their courses). with that they also might get indoctrinated into a specific way of thinking. and even the ones who do actually study in a useful field thats still no guarantee youre going to get a good job especially when everyones taught to goto college and "make something of your self" so you have millions doing so which also means less jobs in special fields going forward because everyone is now fucking doing it.

college should be a serious thing, but its been turned into a joke.

im in a pretty rural area so im not too worried. but i also have a lot of home invasion preventive stuff like steel siding on doors and around hinges, some heavy duty locks and indoor window bars. outside of that my basement is fairly well stocked with supplys and i have a natural water source nearby with fishing. a good amount of firearms and ammo as well. assuming its just a zombie outbreak or the occasional looter i think id do ok.

for one thing the US military wouldnt stand for blatantly killing civilians like that on their home soil especially when they could be fighting their own family, friends or neighbors and with that youd easily lose most of the military who do have tanks, jets and destroyers. it would be a coup 1000x worse than what we saw in turkey. with that youre also dealing with a potential guerilla force of 1million (and thats assuring just 1% of armed US citizens rose up) who would use hit and run tactics and ambushes. a full scale war would also be overly damaging to the US' infrastructure of which theres no point in commanding if its all just a pile of scorched rubble.

youre also talking about controlling a country via violence who was born out of revolution and defying opposition with citizens who have had "freedom" ingrained into their brains since the beginning.

as far as the concept of why needing a gun in general- a gun also symbolizes opposition. its not so much as using a gun itself on a robot or using it to fend of nerv gas, but to confront those who wish to do you harm be it with a gun, bomb or some other means. someone has to have built those robots, someone has to have ordered it, someone has to have their finger on a button somewhere. thats where guns and other means come in. its not like youd be fighting skynet.

i mean what makes RE4's controls bad? having to stop to shoot is the only thing i can really think of, but even then that isnt inherently bad. the game was designed around that style in every way. its controls are damn near close most other shooters now. left bumper aims, right shoots, right stick control the aim. x while aiming to reload ect. the only real difference is because you cant move while shooting the other analog stick doesnt get much use which can feel a bit wonky at first, but its easily gotten used to.

the third one really isnt that bad. its story is an absolute trainwreck, but its core shooting aspects are decent enough. its not something id really devote time to beating at home in my free time, but for a handheld game its a decent time waster if youre on a bus or plane.

i find glocks while not lookers still have a sleek simplicity to them that makes them look a little better. less controls, no overly done rails or serrations and they have a nice small down slope to the trigger guard. i find it a bit silly that people say the glock is a brick while the p320 looks even more so. tho i will say the sig feels better to hold.

mechanics are better. gameplay is worse. mercenaries because of the movement system feels..different. its less about precision in aiming, managing suplys vs the horde than it is more about how to properly use the skill set to route enemies. its good in its own way, but hard to really compare them. look up form RE6 merc videos and youll see what i mean.

crack down on crime in a dozen specific cities (which are largely gun free zones). there youve effectively cleaned up about half of all gun related crime.

the other half can be helped by educating, mental health checkups, private selling crack downs and harsher penalties on gun crime. gungrabbers are trying to instigate too much stupid shit that they know nothing about to the point that gun nuts are afraid to budge on anything cause they know it wouldnt stop there. theres a middle ground, but no one wants to compromise. largely thanks to the left and there "im right and youre wrong" mentalities.
