Seems like it would be kinda difficult to realistically even prove without doubt he provided the pills, not to mention to prove it wasn't her own choice. It really does seem like exploitation of a situation.

This really isn't a new thing. As far as America is concerned, whenever there's a dress code established, you should assume the standard was based within the realm of what's reasonably attainable for a white person. Black hair & the fact it doesn't naturally conform to White America aesthetics is a constant issue for blacks whether it be socially or professionally. The "style" they're looking for can be attained, but it usually takes time and/or money to do so.

Realistically, most of geography consists of places that will never be seen or relevant beyond being places on a map for the average person, especially true for Americans, who with the general size of the country & any international travel besides Mexico or Canada requiring a boat or plane, would probably be lucky to ever leave their state, on the more extreme end.

In an ideal world, we wouldn't NEED a minimum wage, because people would be paid the value of their worth, with respect to their economic surroundings. In reality though, employers will simply do anything & everything to squeeze as much labor as possible for a little money feasible, & won't pay anything if they can get away with it; just look at some of the issues with unpaid internships if you don't believe it.

Topicsome people are predicting another huge recession within the next 2 years
darkbuster
05/04/17 12:49:18 AM
#14
Honestly? I think there's some merit to this, though I don't think it'll be quite as impacting as the last one. The biggest sign is the recent shuttering/decline of various retail stores. It's true that most retail workers aren't paid much above minimum wage, but collectively, they are responsible for a lot of employment, & a lot of them have been falling off in recent years, with HHGregg closing down being the most recent example. The retail stores that do remain open seem to have a common problem of the workers either being on one of two extremes where they get very few work hours or are blatantly overworked as companies try to cut costs.

Ultimately, this seems to be a result of the transitioning stage where consumers begin preferring online commerce such as Amazon, given that I'm also beginning to notice banks are starting to downsize to only drive-thru & ATM services, most likely in response to the popularity of online banking. Job markets are honestly probably going to be pretty messed up for the next few years, with the biggest issue being that few people will want to acknowledge the transition, with "retail" remaining an expected first job, even as retail markets begin to shrink. Also says nothing of the issue that some retail workers are probably still displaced from the last recession, with some having since given up to apply for disability & whatever other social benefits they can qualify for.

To put it simply, I'm predicting we're soon going to have a huge issue of unemployment, underemployment, & qualified individuals that have simply given up prospect of employment altogether.

darkbuster
04/25/17 3:55:00 AM

Because "Young people use curse words!"

Honestly, it's mostly a societal thing. We associate those words as "the bad ones" & when it comes to kids, parents are typically expected to have some kind of mystical absolute dominion over their child's every though & action, which makes "allowing" them to use those words a sign of bad parenting. Even if they're similar in meaning, different words can carry different connotations; just compare some examples in a thesaurus. Though when you get down to it, words draw their primary meaning from context & the understood meaning of the setting; for example, thanks to a certain phrase being in the GameFAQs filter, we can't type certain words or even character names, without triggering the auto flagging system to at least have the post put under review.

Don't forget the ones they lobby for. Though really, this article points about a lot of issues in modern work culture. Because you need a job to survive for the most part, you have to put up with a lot of things from employers that wouldn't be tolerated otherwise. Also, something that I just inherently can't stand about any job structure, is the fact that most workers are having the requisites of their work ultimately being dictated by people that most likely have no practical comprehension, if any, of their job tasks; it's most visible when you have non-tech people try to tell engineers & software experts what they should be doing or how things should be.

I think the biggest issue with casinos is that most people who go, have some intent -no matter how small- of potentially making significant financial gain. The average person is woefully ignorant of statistics & logic to understand that not only are casinos tipped in the house's favor, but they'd need to be for such a business to run stably. If casinos rain "fairly" they'd be in danger of going out of business in a single night of unfavorable luck. Casinos are fine if you're just going for entertainment with the slight possibility of leaving with a net financial gain, but unless you're going to do some hardcore card counting, an act that casinos go so far to deter that they use multiple decks, auto shuffling machines, & blacklist most people they even suspect are pulling it off anyway, you shouldn't expect to win; besides the exploitation of statistics & psychology, that doesn't even cover issue of tactics like using alcohol to ply up those with significant winning & reduce their judgment making skills to ensure the house recovers loses.

Your example of something that cannot be said around people of another race was hate speech. So is BLM spouting hate speech? Because that's what you're saying.

Lol!! So you know what they said was hate speech? Please let me know what they said.

I asked what sort of subject BLM could be talking about that cannot be said around white people. The only example you gave me was "The same stuff white people say at a KKK rally", implying that BLM is a hate group similar to the KKK and wants no white people around so they can be as racist as they want.

I mean, wow, all you had to do was give one reasonable subject that black people don;t want to talk about around white people and the example you chose was hate speech. Holy crap.

There's a possibility they may discuss things that could be uncomfortable or difficult to properly discuss in the presence of a white person, such as personal experiences that may be difficult for a non black person to relate to. Also to paraphrase from the Boondocks: "Black people don't like talkin' about crazy 'n-words' around white people".

If you need a more tangible example, there's a reason girls' health classes have a higher tendency to exclude the boys: because some of the subject matter would be REALLY awkward to talk about in the presence of non-females.

Honestly, I kinda expected something along this line. Like with Mighty No. 9 (other issues with the game are not on trial here), I don't think a lot of people fully comprehended that this game was primarily a throwback, & had way too many expectations that weren't even compatible with the objective. This game is a new attempt at a modern 3D platformer. Platformers are mostly an endangered species outside of the Great Nintendo Preserve & the Indie Isles, where they're usually just making blatant knockoffs of classic platformers (so many Super Mario Bros & Mega Man clones out there); the last major "collectathon" style 3D platformer that immediately comes to mind is Super Mario Sunshine, & that game is nearing the 20 year mark.

Overall, if you want another game along the lines of Super Mario 64, Banjo, & Spyro, you'll most likely enjoy this.
