Trump supporters in Texas are coming to the realization that their vote for the president may force some of them out of their homes for less than they are worth, with others finding out that — if they stay — they’ll be living in Mexico if his wall is built.

As part of a CNN special report on the impact the wall between the U.S. and Mexico will have on border dwellers in the state that went overwhelmingly for President Donald Trump, the network found there is already an extensive history of government lawsuits filed to take property from homeowners. With Trump’s wall planned for the entire border, some of his supporters are now saying they will fight his administration in the courts.

According to one family who had their farm cut in half — part of it in the U.S., part of it in Mexico — they are still stunned that government was able to take their property 10 years ago.

“I was very angry, I just kept saying, how can they do that? How is that possible in the United States that they can do this?” D’Ann Loop of Brownsville recalled. “They put up a fence in front of our land and then keep us in here — lock us in. I didn’t understand. I was very — I was floored and flabbergasted.”

According to Loop, all of their property is now on the Mexico side after losing in court.
“It left us no property on the U.S. side of the border wall, including my house,” she explained. “Everything was behind — on the Mexican side of the U.S. border fence,” with her husband adding they enter the U.S. through a locked gate

“You punch your code in or you come behind the border wall, there is a feeling of isolation,” Ray Loop explained.

With hundreds of additional miles of Trump’s proposed wall expected to be built in along the Texas border, thousands of land owners may be be forced to sell their property to the government or stay and live in changed circumstances.

According to Pat Bell of River Bend, she voted for Trump but never supported his border wall plan, and now she may have to get a lawyer because her home will no longer be in Texas.

Saying fences and walls don’t work, Bell said she’ll fight for stop it.

“Absolutely I would go to the people who are in charge and, you hate to say I would get a lawyer, but if it comes to that issue, you would,” she explained.

But when white people discriminate no one tries to morally excuse it.

Except when you're a business refusing service to people, right? Like perhaps a Christian bakery? Or a gun range refusing Muslims?

Come on man, don't be dense. This shit happens ALL the time and people on every side defend it. You're not revealing some big hypocrisy.

Where did I ever say that I want to stop BLM from doing this don't? I don't. Let them do it.

So you have no problem with discrimination then, only when it's against "your side". That's pathetic.

If for whatever reason white people held some sort of meeting for white people only, the people defednig BLM on this would be the first ones to start crying racism.

And you don't get to play the card of being upset about this as you've defended places being able to run their business privately and allowed to refuse service to whomever. By trying to make others look like a hypocrite you've revealed how massive of a one you are. Especially if you've ever talked about how "the black community needs to solve their own problems and stop relying on the government".

Anyway this is shit and does nothing to help no one. All this contributes to is more anger and dissent among the every day citizen.

Meh, laws change over time and they differ from state to state, country to country and so on. The government now has a case against the homeowner, but nobody else will have to worry about that intruder breaking into their home, so there's that.

It's on the person to know the laws of their own state at their own time. Ignorance of the law, etc.

Just looked up the Murder 2 charge for Washington, which is what the man was charged with, and it states:

person is guilty of murder in the second degree when:
(a) With intent to cause the death of another person but without premeditation, he or she causes the death of such person or of a third person;

And the rest is about committing a felony and a death happens. This is fairly cut and dry tbh

Obviously we're not certain how it played out entirely but there's nothing wrong with going back in armed and trying to forcibly evict or detain him.

Obviously there is being that it's both against the law and the man was arrested

Right....that's how the law works...

Like people do realize you have to abide by the laws and regulations of your state, and just because you "feel" that it's bullshit doesn't make any difference in the eyes of the law. And the whole "leaving and going to a primary residence to get a gun and then returning to kill them" makes you the aggressor.

If you own multiple properties and you find a homeless man sleeping in one of them, you can tell them to leave. You can call the cops and have them arrested. But you can't straight kill them if they refuse.

Not having actually attacked him =/= not a threat/dangerous.
You realize people kill other people with their bare hands every day, yes?

What is his daughter or son walked in instead of himself?

"Oh no DANGER here, just a crazy person that decided to physically break into own home and strip naked. Go ahead and go pee Billy but make sure to let it mellow, don't want to burn the lunatic in the shower."

What is with you making up scenarios and events that didn't happen in order to mash your attempt at logic through? First you said the guy probably lunged at him, with no evidence of such. Then you said you have the right to shoot anyone who breaks into your home, which goes against the law in numerous areas and even those with Castle Doctrine have provisions in it. Now you're hypothesizing about children walking into a secondary home and using the restroom while this guy showers? Like, what?

Stick to reality please

No, it's not sociopathy. It's informed consent, it's the social contract. If you break into someone's fucking home, they get to shoot you. Everyone knows the risk. Fucking deal with it. STOP FUCKING DEFENDING THESE FUCKING DEGENERATES. Society is better off EVERY time one of these people dies.

In court, the Crown alleged the pair orchestrated the murder because Sidhu had married a poor rickshaw driver in India, rather than the wealthy older man they preferred. Four men have already been convicted of murder in India in the case.

Sidhu and Badesha appealed the extradition, raising a number of grounds, including that they might be tortured or neglected in Indian jails.

In a split ruling in February, The British Columbia Court of Appeal set aside the minister’s order.

“In my view, there is a valid basis for concern that the applicants will be subjected to violence, torture and/or neglect if surrendered,” Justice Ian Donald said in his reasons for judgment.

The judge concluded that the minister’s decision to accept assurances from India that the health and safety of the accused would be protected was not reasonable.

“The minister cannot give effect to his surrender orders by sending the applicants to India until he receives assurances that are meaningful and likely to be effective.”

As usual, the high court gave no reasons for agreeing to hear the case.

This is like, a really tricky one. Because while what they did is fucking awful and they deserve death, you're also sending them back to India where you know their safety isn't guaranteed and you really can't set that legal precedent. Hmm
