I'm playing the first Trails of Cold Steel right now and completely new to this series. My impression so far is the story structure is Persona 3/4/5 lite, you have school with free days and exams, but you only do it once a month, along with a field study in different places each month.

Battle system is turn based and pretty similar to Skies of Arcadia except no random battles, where the characters can move around the field and have area of attack moves. I'm enjoying it so far, but like Persona there are tons of missables so a guide is recommended.

Why doesn't Nintendo make the amiibo unlocks also available through the eshop? Obviously because they want their overpriced trinkets to retain their "value".
