To be fair, regressivism is about as dogmatic as religion.

lol k

I mean, it should be pretty obvious. Both dogmatic members of religion and the dogmatic members of the regressive left advocate for ideals based on absolute moral and social values instilled in them from birth, which are to be followed without question, without nuance, and with no regard for knowledge which may conflict with part or all of said values.

To be an actual English teacher in Japan, you absolutely need to have a firm grasp of the language in order to even have a shot at being successful. But most English teaching jobs in Japan are more in line with assistant work than they are actual teacher work, so the need for competence in the native tongue is less.

As much as I disagree with Islam, if they were able to provide a good home for the child that their own parents could not, then I'm willing to look past their religious beliefs for the sake of them opening their home to children in need.

But this family does not seem like they will be able to do that.

What a dishonest title.

Absolutely not. When one is a minor attending a public school, students' rights are entrusted upon the administration. When the administration instructs, or suggests, for a male student to undress with a girl in a male locker room and make it seem "as natural as possible"---a whole host of legal issues can arise, and rightly so.

You know exactly what this is about, so to portray it as though a boy was told to undress in front of some random girl is being willfully dishonest.

We all know what it is about. It doesn't make my title invalid. Given their age and description of events (the girl wearing a bra) it's guaranteed my topic title is extremely accurate.

I'm sure you can always fall back on some sort of "You are whatever you are if you think you are, therefor it's true"--- but no one is going to really buy that except a few select users on CE, and even they know it isn't true.

I called your title dishonest.

Nothing you just said addresses this.

Because we incorporated supernatural deities into the very foundation of our societies, governing and supporting which values we uphold and the motivations for those societies in question. Removing those means removing the pin which kept large human populations together and molded ideologies for the better part of our post-agricultural-revolution history on this planet.

"I am very concerned about what's being indoctrinated at school only when I want to indoctrinate them with my own beliefs first."

How about no "indoctrination" at all?

Not possible in an education system.

Indoctrination is a dirty word with a lot of malicious connotation behind it; but at the end of the day, the very act of growing up in a system necessarily requires that the youth be indoctrinated in the ways of their society by the adults. And school has never, ever been a place to simply learn facts (and it's arguable whether even learning "just the facts" falls outside the realm of what could be called "indoctrination").

That's why parents get mad at schools. They have things they do or don't want their children to believe or don't want them to know for whatever reason, and sometimes that doesn't mesh with what the school teaches.

Unfortunately, this is a common reaction from Christian families (and I imagine most other monotheistic religions as well). For anything else, regardless of what you are or do, you can at least be saved by the fact that "you're still a Christian." But if your an atheist? All that goes away, and you're now running contrary to the fundamental core beliefs the family clings to. The more deep into the religion the family is, the harder that pill becomes to swallow.

Well, I don't know if circular reasoning is the real fallacy you're committing. You're issue is one of begging the question.

But in general, circular reasoning is a fallacy because it creates a situation where the conclusion of some premise becomes the evidence for the first premise. This then loops forever. For example:

Premise 1: If X, then Y
Premise 2: X is true.
Conclusion: Y is true.

And when pressed on the premises, the following is given:

Premise 1: If Y, then X
Premise 2: Y is true.
Conclusion: X is true.
