It's great to see 2015 x-stats finally put up there. They look pretty good. I probably couldn't do any better. CT's probably not actually above OoT, but I don't mind CT being up top. Ocarina never had a performance that equaled what CT pulled off on FFX... well, unless Ocarina vs. Link to the Past had no SFF. That might be the case.

If you assume no SFF in OoT/LttP, FFIX gets 60% on FFIV. Seems about right. Also, it would predict FFVII's x-stat gets 42% on Ocarina of TIme, just 1% lower than what occurred. It also predicts Ocarina of Time gets 51% on Chrono Trigger.... Not that this theory is without its own issues. The issue is that this predicts FFIX gets 52% on FFX. If you assume CT overperformed on FFX, and that the CT/Melee registered vote numbers wasn't quite accurate, it still might be plausible.

A bit late, but I'm disappointed with just one aspect of the bracket: giving years from 2010-2016 very little shot at winning (except for lol rallies). Only 2013 seems to have a small shot. It would have been nice for some of those to play each other. Maybe one of those vs. 1988/89 would have been interesting.

Wow. Crazy how that all works out. We should rally to make 2002 beat 1991!

I just realized.... even though 2015 and 2016 both seem likely to get rallied, both of them have to face 1998 early on. They will have serious trouble picking up enough steam. So, that means 2001 is by far the most likely rally to be successful in going all the way, then? I figure there's no need to waste one of my brackets picking 2015/16, then. (KNOCK ON WOOD) One of my brackets has 2001 taking the crown.

That said, I'm tempted to pick 2015 over 2005 and 2003...I'll do that on at least one of my brackets, as well.

1990 vs. 2000, anybody? I feel like SMB3 is going to be a lot more meaningful to voters than any game in 2000... SMB3 just seems like it's going to be a real monster in this context. I don't think 1985 with the original Mario could stand up to 1990 with SMB3 and FF1... SMB3 is too good. Way too good. It's arguably the first masterpiece Nintendo ever released. Final Fantasy already has inexplicable strength in games contests. It won't be any weaker in this context, that's for sure. It could mean as much to 1990 as any game for 2000.

However, Majora's Mask is... well, like a sidekick to Ocarina of TIme. Plus, it's possible FFIX in 2000 might negate the voter's appreciation for FF. Add in Pokemon GSC, and the year might be too much for 1990 to handle. Plus, the PS2 release.... gah.

Yeah, '91 and '94 are the two massive favorites. There's only one thing I'm confident on. if 1985 beats 1987, 1991 is going to beat 1994. But I actually have 1987 and 1991 winning, respectively... for now. I reaaaaallllyyyy want 1994 to win, though.

True, there is the Guru Challenge to determine better "odds", but the whole point of the BOP is to get an early idea on things. I'm going to submit my current bracket right now.

Dang it, I thought I almost caught up, but I'm out of time. I skipped page 4 by accident. A few comments about posts from waaaayyyy back....

I don't really agree with this either. Here we are 20 years later, and most platformers still look more like Mario 3/World than they do like Mario 64. (Mario itself is arguably the main exception, but even then it developed into three separate streams, and it's no surprise that the 2D one is the best-seller.)

well, all I mean is that 96 is a notable year for the 64 whereas 95 is not for the PS1.

Hm, so... console launches may be more meaningful if there are great launch titles?... So that means all the Nintendo systems through GameCube (except the handhelds) will be a big factor, but not so much PS1/PS2/Genesis? I guess this would make sense...

Hey, don't count out the year 2000! It's truly a nightmare. But we need a gauntlet somewhere so that we don't have a ton of perfect brackets. And maybe include 1990 and 1996, too, and maybe others, but I'm too lazy to look at the bracket at this very moment.

Confrontation ~ Presto 2011 got a moral victory. It wasn't the victim of the biggest blowout (I wasn't there to vote, whatever), AND MycroProcessor considers it better than about 1/3 of the participants!

Ghost Lead isn't bad at all. FDHC is obviously a pretty strong opponent, but..."wow" at the blowout.

In any case, Confrontation ~ Presto 2011 from Gyakuten Kenji 2 will probably set a new record lof low-ness. (even though Presto 2011 is awesome when played in-game....and it actually takes many listens to appreciate the overall sound of it...)

Those play-lengths are interesting. The 3rd day of 1-3 is the shortest trial day, huh? (granted, the other trials in AA1 aren't much longer) The original AA1 was only 12 hours long (excluding 1-5). AA2, meanwhile, was 20 hours long. AA3 is 25 hours long, more than twice the length of AA1.

Hate to break it to you, Leonhart, but Investigation ~ In the Midst 2002 does play at least once when speaking with Adrianne Andrews.
