agreed on all that. i'm disappointed but that's just fanboyism talking. usos showed they were a superior tag team, breeze showed his mind games can work perfectly to score wins for the team.

i really liked the touch of, after the usual ring chase and pulled-out-the-ring spot, he countered the right hand. i don't know how often i've seen that from somebody who isn't a top card. that was a super nice touch showing he's even got that prepared.

the team just needs to get better and refine themselves. that's a good story. it's a great advancement of their story - transitioning them from total jobbers to total jokers to a legit tag team that uses their jokes to obtain new advantages.

Agreed, that counter was excellent. And even the wig factored in! Uso grabbed at his hair, pulled the wig off, Breezy slipped out, Uso distracted, Fandango got the pin!

Good job by both teams once again.

Points to Breezango for outwitting the Usos and pissing them off to get an immediate title shot. And also for not showboating in the match and treating it like a real match.

Points to Usos for veteran tag team experience and a very nice finish.

They just aren't the tag team the Usos are. I'm cool with seeing where this continues to go and hope to see some other tag teams in the hunt.

What I'm hoping for most of all is for us to get the NXT Breezy by the end of the summer. He's wayyy too much of a Heath Slater right now and needs to get back into being a really excellent wrestler. Once he can help Fandango with continued offense, then they can be on top, but too much face-in-peril. Like, at the end there. Beautiful blind tag into splash by the Usos, but Breeze should've broken up that pin. That's something for them to improve on.

Consider it called: October PPV - Breezango vs. New Day for titles.

Best part of it all is I actually thought the janitor comedy was good because he was clearly flustering Uso and it was funny. I totally would've bought the flippy kick to the head from janitor as a finish.

But the grandma was like three steps too far, and Usos took control at that point and never looked back.

Random note janitor part would've been like 10x better if the last Fashion Police skit just had Fandango wondering where Breeze was and the weird looking Janitor in the background the whole time, and the match starts with Fandango still acting distressed that Breeze isn't there and the janitor randomly following him and being on the apron

I mean everyone knows it's Tyler but at least there would've been a reason for him to come out in janitor garb. He'd still be "undercover."

The point is the buffoonery went too long for it to continue to look like a valid tactic against opponents who had anything resembling a clue. Once Breeze started hitting credible offense (which again, was towards the end of the janitor when he did the kick thing (is that his finisher?)) that should've been the end of it. And it largely was, but more because the Usos stopped falling for it than anything on Breeze's end.

Which makes it look like they're guys who are not taking the match seriously until they start losing more than tactical dudes playing mindgames with silliness.

I agree with Lopen completely, but that didn't detract from my enjoyment at all.

Those lines I bolded are completely accurate, but I don't think it was a detriment to the product. Breezy keenly developed a way of catching the Usos off-guard and absolutely controlled the tempo of the early minutes. The Usos are a VERY good tag team and have been brutal in their offense since turning heel. Breezy played an excellent possum lowering the guards of the Samoan twins, and took them by absolute surprise with that janitor kick. The little bit of work with the mop was outstanding as well, baiting Uce to post himself then casually trip him up. Felt like Jackie Chan Drunken Mastery. It was excellent work by someone who, while really actually an awesome wrestler, has been jobbing for over a year and worked the opportunity to some amazing advantage.

And you are absolutely correct that the Grandma bit took things too far and the Usos weren't having it. Breezy locked in on a great strategy, but he used the same move twice in a row and the Usos are smarter than that. They still indulged for a bit, but they took Breezango to town afterwards. It was a fatal error by Breezy to try that tactic again, especially that soon. I love Breezango, but I'm happy the Usos won after the Grandma bit because it was too much. It's like when 3MB would actually be doing well in a match, and then they would massively showboat and cause their own fall.

In my hopes that Smackdown Live will be around the same quality in storytelling that last year's show was, I can see positive net gains for Breezango from this, learning they had a real chance at winning, and tempering their game going forward.

However, my expectations are also tempered knowing Smackdown has felt more like RAW as of late and they'll be the new goofy Golden Truth/3MB/Matadores with nothing ever getting accomplished and never learning. Or Damien Mizdow taking AGES to finally turn.

But, we had New Day using Freebird rules and learning how to cheat, and we had Dean Ambrose pretty successfully using "Janitor" tactics to discombobulate and take AJ Styles off his game for months, so...
