same. guessing they didn't intend for it to get so big. kinda lost the magic now that it's very obvious that the dudes behind the vids is the one developing the game. he sells the playthrough and narration very well though.

For those not in the know, Petscop is an ongoing video series following a dude named paul through a "found/gifted" ps1 game. Starts off normal enough but some weird shit starts happening and it eventually gets into creepypasta territory. It's very well done, no jumpscares, the creepy vibe is very subtle and behind the scenes, and the story of the game draws parallels to an irl news story in which a girl was killed by three therapists during a kooky "rebirth/reattatchment" therapy. An unopenable door was found, and eventually opened itself the day the killers were meant to be out of prison (had they served their whole sentence, they were freed years ago on good behavior I believe. one of them will eventually be able to treat kids again).

I think it's funny tho. Game doesn't look like it belongs in this gen graphically or otherwise but it's the most popular game on PC.

a lot of people don't play it for the graphics. in fact turning the graphics down to the lowest setting to make it look like a ps2 game gives you an advantage over max settings due to the reduced foliage, so a lot of people do it. Its battle royale fps aspect just feels great. you're thrown in with 100 players but matches don't go on forever.

it really appeals to the CoD audience that has been abandoned with shitty current CoD games, in the sense that you feel like a "badass" when you do great, so the popularity doesn't surprise me. And it's still in early access development, so it can only get better hopefully. It's not gonna sink into development hell like other early access titles due the fame.

I've always wondered the same thing about the stereotypical gay guy voice.

f***ing THIS. it has to be a conscious choice. but what drives it? one of my pals was in the closet in HS and spoke normally the whole time I knew him then. He came out sometime after school was over and now his voice tone is f***ing overbearingly lispy and feminine, to the point where I just can't take the dude seriously sometimes. He still has the same husky appearance and doesn't act different or girlier than before, it's just the voice.

i just had a brainwave. do they just put it on as an identifier so other gay men know they're gay? would make the most sense i guess. would be nice if he turned it off around our circle of friends who have known each other for years and really don't give a shit whether he's gay or not though. i miss his old voice.
