I think the series peaked from 6 to 10. ATB and more interesting stories.

I did really enjoy 15 as unpopular as that opinion is, it's the most I've liked a main FF since 10 and I felt the combat worked in a way that made sense as opposed to 12's MMO-style and 13's I don't even know.

They do need to stop with the "one foot in the ATB" style though. Pick action OR ATB.

ATB absolutely can still work, the trick with modern titles though is the pacing. I loved Lost Odyssey for instance but couldn't finish it - it just went too long and lacked variety. FF7 in comparison was just right for length and had a bunch of little deviations to mix things up (motorcycle, snowboarding, Golden Saucer etc...).

Always had to cheat to get to the last levels. Maybe I'd be better at it today but if anything games have generally become easier so I'd probably be even worse.

Desperate to play it (and had it pre-ordered day one) but I'm going to try and wait for the whole thing to finish releasing as I did with LiS. With how long the wait between episodes in these types of game can be (especially when there are delays), you can forget the smaller details and I'm not really into the idea of replaying just to jog my memory.

Be a tough wait, though.

Hell, I'd argue the scalpers are Nintendo's demographic for these products at this point.

Both Uncharted and TLoU are best played on the easiest difficulty setting IMO. The story is the best part and the combat just gets in the way (especially in Uncharted as Nate ends up killing like a thousand people just because he wants to steal treasure).

The Tomb Raider reboot does it better, with more responsive combat and better pacing. That said, as much as I liked 2013's story, doesn't really compare to TLoU.

See, to me, this is how it should be in an AC game. It's how it was in the first.

I totally get your point but I was running in Unity because combat sucked, not because it was more beneficial to stealth.

I'm not really sure how I feel about the series focusing on stealth at this point. Logically, it absolutely should but it's never been a strong point and switching priorities is only going to alienate the fans. I have no problem with them adding more options though to make stealth actually worth doing just not at the expense of me being able to Darth Maul my way through an area when my patience is running thin.

That said there have been like 600 entries in the series now and I'm way past the point of buying them at launch so catering to me probably isn't going to help them.

Most of the glitches were way overblown by reviewers and fans.

Possibly true for consoles but it was a real unoptimized PoS on PC until it got fixed up.

My main issue with the game though was what they did to the combat. Yeah it wasn't as easy but it felt so damn tedious, fights took ages in comparison to how they used to and weren't as flashy or satisfying, either. Came a point where I'd just run from every fight and only actually engage in combat when there was no other choice.

But it is still Mass Effect and I'm sad I don't get to say goodbye to the characters in a proper way. When the credits were rolling for me, there was still the possibility of another two sequels, let alone the obvious DLC potential going by previous BioWare titles. Just the way he treats Ash in the anime maybe, like he sees him all disheveled and thinks "Huh, I was late for my own destiny too" and hands over a Pikachu a new trainer shouldn't be able to handle because he sees himself in said trainer.

If it was revealed that Prof. Oak once beat the Elite 4, I honestly wouldn't be surprised though I'd like it hinted/implied as opposed to outright stated. There's an aura of mystery about him I like, especially concerning his past (that admittedly is probably all in my head).

Not so much of that in the games though, I guess.

I don't think the quality difference is that big of a gap between the two, honestly. If TWD wasn't able to borrow from the best parts of the comics, they'd probably be exactly the same. Even then TWD manages to have plenty of filler and watered-down versions of characters.

I read someone's idea on a different board that the best thing Fear could do is show Madison's steady decline into becoming a fully-fledged villain and then finally pit her up against Rick's group in the main show to close the story. It would be completely original to the show and very cool to see for people already watching Fear.

There are times in the show I genuinely have no idea what characters are trying to say. I'll be watching an episode with someone and a couple of the characters will have a conversation and when it finishes the camera will zoom in like it's a big deal and the person I'm watching with will turn to me and ask "What does that mean?" and I respond "I have no fucking idea".

They don't talk like real people. There's so much hackneyed, poetic, metaphor philosopihical nonsense, even the big, relatively simple, jacked military dude Abraham started doing it. Remember that tangent Will Smith's son went on? They sound like that sometimes.

The comic gets my vote.

The entire point of the game (At least my read of the point) is that is Max's chance to say goodbye. She left Chloe and never spoke to her for years. Chloe never got to say goodbye to her dad before he died. She never got to say goodbye to Rachel (nobody did, Frank/Samuel/Nathan/Jefferson)

So when Chloe gets killed when Max hasn't seen her in years and barely even recongized her. She "changes" the world to a false one and gets one week with her best friend. A chance to say goodbye and get closure, as well as Chloe getting closure with Rachel. Hell Rachel and Chloe's "dead" spirits are with you the entire game pushing the plot.

By "accepting" Chloe's fate at the end Max is able to move on with her life and accept reality. Things get back to normal and life resumes. Hence Max's lack of powers.

I do really love this interpretation and it's reasons like this I'm really beginning to resent multiple endings in story-heavy video games. If the story was solely crafted for your interpretation of the ending, it would have been resoundingly beautfiul. Instead we have a couple sketchy plot points that take away from either ending making too much sense and now spend our time arguing and trying to de-value each one based on our own individual bias. It's a shame.

Picked Chloe, think it was the easiest decision in the game for me.

It was completely selfish, sure but what's the point in not? People like to throw out the numbers game thing but if this was happening in real life would you also so easily be able to throw away your best friend/lover while they look on at you teary-eyed trying to convince themselves that maybe they deserve to die. Neither option has you walking away guilt-free, you're actively choosing to kill someone, I doubt saving the town would weigh less on your conscience. Not to mention in this scenario you've already lost them once, and since that trauma have grown even closer; it's bound to hurt a lot more the second time around.

Like I said, I made this choice instantly so didn't read about the Bay ending until afterwards but I'm glad I picked what I did because rewinding everything and letting Chloe die just seems even more unsatisfying than driving off with no real answers because you practically accomplish nothing -- except getting to hang out with Chloe one last time but she won't remember, making it every bit as selfish as saving her.

I think a lot of it of course boils down to both how endeared you were by Chloe and how you crafted the relationship between her and Max. The way Max was with her in my game, I can't imagine her sacrificing Chloe and then going on to live a normal life; she'd be so guilt-ridden and lost I just can't imagine her ever smiling again and meaning it. The Bay ending is more impactful because it clearly got more time put into it and pulls hard at the heart-strings but it's also empty, the Bae ending at least implies a future for the two of them -- that there was a reason for all of this tragedy and chaos.

Speaking of underground race tracks, there are like 4000 Riddler trophies too. That's an exaggeration but it doesn't feel like it when you're doing them. You get the idea after 50 of them, by the time you hit 100 they've basically exhausted all their more clever ideas and then there are still 140+ to go!

Seriously though, who would these films star if not Bond? You could maybe make a movie about one of the villains showing a tragic fall from grace but it's only good for one or two times before it becomes a cliché/repetitive and I don't know if an M or Q prequel would be that interesting. Seeing M kick some ass would be cool but it would just be a James Bond movie without Bond so...

I think 7 is a great place to start. The graphics are obviously dated but if you consider it more an art-style, they actually have a charming aesthetic.

The game is also simple enough to easily wrap your head around, with the materia system being immediately intuitive. To anecdotally prove this point, the last time I went through the game, a friend did too and I used a guide to find all the super strong and secret materia as well as materia combos -- where my friend who barely even plays RPGs kinda fumbled his way through with whatever is freely given or bought in stores and made it to the last dungeon (had real trouble there though because of Death IIRC).

It's a good time, iconic music, characters, story (uh, as wonky as it is at times) and the combat system is such that if you choose to try any of the other games, you'll be familar with how they work outside of the most recent ones that keep attempting random stuff.

The formula has definitely become stale across most big Ubi franchises. I played AC: Rogue recently and though I loved the campaign I just couldn't bring myself to do the busy-work again for the nth time which of course leaves you with a short game because the menial sidestuff tends to make up the majority of the content. I can't see myself buying anymore of their games unless they're dirt cheap on sale just because I've basically already played it at least 4 times regardless of the franchise.

I like (love was too strong a word) the games but I hate their more "zany" characters, they're like really poor GTA knock-offs. Especially the junkies.
