Like a lot of movies based on books or comics have underlying themes that make them unique, but the movie just makes it a skin deep story. Like I Am Legend is about how the protagonist unknowingly becomes the mythical boogeyman that he was hunting... but the movie made it Will Smith fighting some zombies.

Wouldn't people like the movies more if they were deeper? It seems like they're shooting themselves in the foot with these adaptations

I don't buy it TC, 10 miles over is going to be the same accident regardless due to the situation.

This is just physics. Your car can't stop or turn in the same time/radius at 10mph more, and it becomes significant very quickly

Here in Arizona, the speedlimit is 5 over whatever the posted speed is. That's the speed traffic moves, and cops do not pull you over for it.

On surface streets it says 45, you do 50.

On freeways it says 65, you do 70-72.

I do 80 in the fast lane, but I'm also a superb driver with 15 years experience and zero accidents.

Everyone thinks they're a great driver, the people around you are bad drivers. Those people I mentioned died because someone swerved in front of them and they were going too fast to react.

I'm never too fast to react. If you had any Idea how many near accidents I've avoided due to quick reaction time.

There a reason all my friends always have me drive us places.

Imagine if you drove the limit and all of those near accidents weren't near accidents at all.

You kids think it's cool to speed 5 over, 10 over, 15 over everywhere you go. You think if everyone did this everything would run smoother. The guys who drive in the right lane at or below the limit are idiots ruining everyone's efficient drive.

I've worked as a first responder for 6 years now. In the hospital, on ambulances, in the backcountry, at a ski area. I can tell you I've seen my share of violently dead corpses and their wailing family members.

The number 1 cause of fatal car crashes is distracted (texting) driving. The second largest, is simply, speeding. Not speeding according to road conditions, that's the 5th largest cause after drunk and reckless driving. Just speeding. You people who think you're cool cause you're a fast or "good" driver. On average one person a DAY dies driving in Colorado.

I've watched a man burn to death because he was going 10 over. I saw a teenager impaled on bars of rebar next to his mangled friend who was going 10 over. It wasn't a mistake by either of them. It was someone else's mistake that they didn't have time to react to.

You're not cool. Drive the speed limit. I wish cops gave 1mph over the limit tickets.

I have been to Europe twice now and it is really striking how beautiful their cities are, perfectly maintained, and have tons of places for the people who live there to actually go out and interact with each other and buy local goods

In the US there are empty lots, sketchy weirdos, crumbling roads, and once a week they put up a crappy farmer's market on one of those crumbling roads. Everyone just lives separate lives, locking their doors and driving everywhere alone.

If you're doing a push/pull split, an arm day will fuck up your progression. You'd be better off adding arm exercises to your routine.

That was my worry. I do 2 accessory lifts (eg two triceps isolation exercises on push day) at the end, after my four compound exercises. Should I do more? Should I ditch a compound for focusing on arms? I'm wondering how much I need to focus on arms in the greater picture, really.

1. Exercise fairly regularly.
2. Learn the difference between good foods and bad ones.
3. Learn when your body is telling you to eat, and when your brain is. That doesn't mean starve yourself, or even wait until you can feel physical hunger - you can tell before then when your body is ready to eat more.
4. Eat meaningfully, not mindlessly. That sounds like some motivational speaker bullshit but, what I mean is that your meals/snacks should be reasonable. Don't gorge. Get some protein in there so you aren't reaching for more in half an hour. And so on.
5. Remember that it's okay to break #2 on occasion. If you're doing a good job the other 95% of the time, eating a couple slices of pizza won't kill your progress.

I've been following this general set of guidelines for a couple months now. I've lost nearly 20lbs. as a result, without ever starving myself or counting calories. This shit is easy to figure out, and yet so many people think there needs to be a rigid, unflinching structure for it to be effective.

You're right, but this isn't going to take you into "great" shape territory, just "not fat". She's not fat, she's trying to get back in great shape

They're unregulated so you don't know if there's actually what they say in there. There are also some studies that show people who take multivitamins are no healthier than those that don't (but how can you control for all diet and lifestyle factors, so it's debatable)

They're not loud but the 5 and 8 year old now think it's fun to set up forts and card games at the foot of my door. It sounds like I have kids in my apartment now. It's nothing to do with me, there's a twisty hallway and it's far from the parents' room, so they're probably stoked the kids are leaving them alone.

The rest of the house is theirs, so they are free to play where they want, so I don't want to tell her where she can and can't be in her own house.
