Crosby is the best player in the world and up until McDavid joined the league, Malkin was the 2nd best.

Kessel is a superstar in his own rights.

Letang is one of the most offensively-gifted defensemen in the league (admittedly he has been cursed for a few seasons now).

Fleury is a veteran netminder and Murray will be this generation's Price, mark my words.

Idk what more you want in the Cap era. I'll take 5 or 6 players worth half a salary cap and a bunch of under-valued depth over a dozen mid-carders and some dead weight you try not to give too much ice time.

I mean christ, even Kunitz has three cups and a gold medal. For a while when Kessel was on the 3rd and Kunitz was on the 4th we legitimately had an Olympiad on every line.

There was a lot of stuff wrong with the Pens in 2010-2015.

Most of it was our coaching.

The Flyers series, for instance, was a lack of discipline. They didn't respect the coach and he was incapable of adapting. Once they got in Fleury's head, that was it. Series over.

Crosby probably has the best wingers he's ever had in his career right now to be honest. Up until now it was, what, Kunitz and Dupuis? No slouches but they couldn't anticipate his plays the way Sheary used to before this offseason, and the way that Guentzel has learned to. And Hornqvist gives that big body presence in front of the net. And Kessel is maybe the best sniper in the league, even if they don't pair often, the times they do can be deadly (as seen last game).

Shot quality matters and we have three of the best shots in the entire league on Malkin, Crosby, and Kessel.

I think you said earlier that Washington has the best of every line in the league or something which is just ridiculous because any line with Crosby on it is automatically the best line in the league, and it really isn't even close. He turns rookies into record-breakers. He's the best player in the league by a mile, and yes, I remember McDavid exists.

Dubnyk was on the downward slide for more than a month before the playoffs and Crawford has always been a serviceable goalie at best.

Pittsburgh is 240 miles from Washington DC. To get to New Jersey or Long Island is 6 hours at least. Same for getting to Philly.

It's a MUCH shorter distance to get to Philly, New York, and New Jersey. I think 2 and a half for Philly and Jersey and a little more for New York. All of the other teams are even further apart than Pittsburgh is.

Travel time wears a team down. It adds up.

In the playoffs, however, both teams are on the same schedule so it's irrelevant.

Which is why the Caps always collapse. They lose that incremental advantage that nets them top finishes in their division.

Also Washington absolutely benefits from geography to an absurd degree. I think they have the shortest total travel schedule within their division of any team.

It inflates their regular season record which is why they look so good. Then the playoffs hit and suddenly that advantage is revealed, and they become paper tigers.
