I don't know how to answer this question. What is a metric of Truth?

Ehh...fair enough. Let's see.

How do you personally determine truthiness in a thing (religion) that inherently has almost no evidence to base on?

Does it just feel like it most accurately describes the world? Is it the one that makes you feel the warmest inside? Is it the one that seems to have the least contradictions? Is it the newest religion that appears to take itself seriously? Is it simply the one that makes the light bulb in your head brightest, in understanding on the universe and meaning? Is it the one that mostly aligns with your code of ethics?

What would make you think something else is more true, given that it clearly won't be true in the sense of how we classically understand "truth" with verifiable facts and experimentation (...ignoring the philosophical question of "how can we know if anything we experience is true")?

Why did you discard other religions as being less true?

These estimates are based on a universal basic income paid for by increasing the federal deficit. As part of the study, the researchers also calculated the effect to the economy of paying for the cash handouts by increasing taxes. In that case, there would be no net benefit to the economy, the report finds.

Objective morality is a no, as that would imply there is something objective to use to base morality on.
Subjective morality is thus what we're left with.

However, I don't subscribe to cultural relativism and other ideas that go the way of "well beating women is considered okay there, so we can't judge it as outsiders."

If your question is "Do you believe in objective morality, and that Nazis fall under the evil part of it" my answer is no, and then N/A.
If your question is "Should we subscribe to moral relativism" then my answer is still no.
Are Nazis "evil"? Subjectively, yes. Objectively, it doesn't seem to exist.

Does it? Just because they didn't fight in a combat zone doesn't mean the military doesn't have an effect. Training and the culture are still things they will experience.

You'd have to see if people with a "predisposition" to suicide are drawn to military more-so than those that do not, first, as I'm decently sure even non-combat military veterans commit suicide at a higher rate than civilians.

They all have a distinctly female's brains rather than a male's brain? That's interesting. I don't know anything about that, unfortunately. Hmm.

I don't think legal is a very good justification... BUT it being a law does, I guess make it "realer" in a sort of way - however, laws aren't exactly "real" either, as they're just a thing we made up based on feelings. As noted in the thread before, that doesn't exactly make it not rape by deception (which is also a law), so it merely being a law might not be valid.

Our feelings/emotions and beliefs are not defined by the laws of the land we live in either, so mandating that they follow the laws isn't exactly going to work well and I think maybe saying as much is dangerous.

I have an idle question, kind of poorly formed:

If the gender dysphoria that transgenders feel (and such dysphoria is "merely" a feeling/emotion/psychological-stress) that make them want to transition is itself enough are considered legitimate enough that one might not question them and then also accept them, why are so many people resistant to the idea that the feelings this ex-sailor of being raped were legitimate? To her, she was a woman and felt the need to transition. To him, she was a man and he was raped. What makes one more "real"?

Are they both not just, in the end, feelings? What's different here? For the sailor, he was directly affected by somebody else's actions. At least her feelings only affected her (until she made the actions she undertook [ie, transitioning]), up until, well, she involved other people.

I don't think this is an uncommon sentiment or "problem", and it interacts in an extremely new and weird way of human biology and identity (and will only get weirder as technology improves until eventually it's probably almost entirely accepted as standard - but that isn't now), so it seems different from an example situation of "well if it was a born biological woman that happened to be sterile, would it be rape if she didn't tell him?"

Note I'm not justifying the stabbing, just sort of defending the idea of the marine feeling raped, which some people seem to be entirely dismissing as legitimate, and in doing so are dismissing a lot of other peoples' feelings (those that would feel that it's rape to be deceived in such a way) where those feelings don't even affect other people until they are "deceived", so they seem fairly innocent beliefs to have - it's not like people are entitled to having sex with everybody, including those that feel like it would be rape, so they aren't being unfairly treated, are they?

All seems very odd, to me.

Nah, nobody said amazing... but you specifically did say its gameplay was great, and so did several other people.

When really, its gameplay is basically just "serviceable" in every department, managing to be particularly good at about none of them.

But I guess if one mashes enough 5/10s together it adds up to great through advanced gameplay calculus.

I mean I'm not necessarily hyper-against FO4 ok I do think it's outstandly "meh" ~5.5/10 as a game but whatever, but it does tickle me when it just manages to catch up to like being "average" in a bunch of departments (most, really) and suddenly that makes it great.

Yeah. You use "Mitama" (spirits of dead heroes) which grant 4 special abilities, one of which is always a 10-use "Recovery" ability that heals some health. Other abilities do things like increase damage, grant life steal, create little black holes, make it so body parts are instantly purified (thus collecting them), seeking magic arrows, summoning little spirits in the air, lotsa stuff.

Some Mitama have "boosts" (basically passive buffs) that can modify Recovery (or tons of other stuff), but it's probably going to be 10 uses with the same amount of health recovered every time.

You recover mitama ability uses between fights, or by praying at little shrines that dot the game world (or maybe a boost makes you sometimes recover an ability use, or whatever)

I dunno about longevity or anything. I only played MH on the PSP way back, and didn't play it much. Depends on if you like the genre.

Oh and the game doesn't support a mouse at all.

Of course the most serious cases are seen first...now you have a massive influx of serious cases. Yes, and because of this massive influx of insured people, you will have longer waits for everything--including emergency rooms---that will result in more deaths.

Ok, so we get UHC which means people can now reasonably go to the hospital, because they can afford it.
And because everybody is doing this, now we have extended wait times (say for even serious, life-threatening conditions), so some people can't get in quick enough (because suddenly our systems are entirely overwhelmed, apparently and unfortunately), and then so they die. Yeah, that really sucks. Systems don't work 100% perfectly, and stuff goes wrong.

As opposed to the apparent alternative - we lack any real form of UHC so nobody is going to the hospital because they figured their infection or "weird pain" or whatever would just heal on its own and they can't afford the thousands of dollars in medical bills, and then it doesn't go away and they die?

Also you seem to be arguing "we're unhealthy so we shouldn't get UHC because then we'd be strained to handle all that unhealthiness; better to just not do anything about it"? What's up with that?

Yeah I'd like to see this too, as it seems this is always the case when I see these wage gaps. Just flat "He makes 80k a year, she makes 60k -> wage gap -> problem"

And then inevitably it's revealed the males work more hours, are more experienced, actually negotiated for better pay, etc. Extremely irritating to see all of these variables discarded all the time; it masks any actual sexism happening.

The article says it's the DoL doing these investigations so maybe they're accounting for all this stuff? Who knows. I don't even remember which study/report/whatever was that originally created the 77% number or whatever percent. Coulda been the DoL for all I know.
