I feel like if you just tinker around enough with what you already have, eventually something worthwhile will come out of it.

I actually just did my first fully frame by frame animation earlier this year. Before, I'd try to get by with tweening as much as I possibly could and still have it look natural enough. It's rough.

I do all my creative stuff on the side as well, and while it's not my ideal situation, I still feel like if I did have a job where I was always having to do design work for clients I probably wouldn't do anything for myself because I'd be so burnt out by the time I got home. I think it's all about getting into a mindset where you just set aside a bit of time to work on "something" for yourself at least a couple nights a week.

I thought kind of the same thing about burnout but wasn't sure if it was a sour grapes thing, lol. Not sure if having a more creative job would give me more or less creative energy for my personal stuff. I kind of wish I could work 4 days a week so that I could have more of a balance of free time. You're right that I'd probably be more productive if I scheduled time to work on it instead of just doing it 'when i feel like it'

Thanks! The past few years I've been trying to do some more animated stuff, though I feel like I'm more of a writer than an actual animator. I'm really particular, but also impatient, so animating can be a frustrating process. (It's really satisfying once it's finished though)

I know what you mean though, I think it's a lot easier to put things out there when no one knows who you are, because you aren't experiencing the embarrassment first hand. You should do it though. The first one was a good time.

Thanks... maybe I will. I'm kind of torn between showing the music to anyone or not before trying to record it to get an honest reaction on if it's even worth recording, but then I feel like if I don't know if I'd want to put myself through that if it turns out it's really bad... lol

Re: animating, yeah, it's exhausting. I used to do it some but the amount of time it takes is just insane. If I got back into animation it would probably be something easier like cutouts so that everything could be tweened.

I'm thinking of possibly getting back into making videos with some people I know, like sketch comedy or something. I've just been working for the past year and a half at a not-very-exciting job and being too tired/lazy to do anything creative. So I'm trying to realize that if I don't start doing creative things like I wanted to do as a career in my spare time, I'll pretty much do nothing but work for the rest of my life because there's not much else I'm interested in doing. So hopefully I'll start doing some stuff soon if it works out with the video stuff.

I was going to school for art conservation and got my degree but did not end up going to grad school due to a late start sadly. But hope to get there eventually!
