The fact remains there have been 4 Best Game Ever Contests on this site that OoT has participated in and it has won only 1 title. Janus5k posted...
I wouldn't EXPECT anything to beat OoT, it would be favored for sure, but an early round CT vs OoT, late round Melee vs OoT, and any round RBY vs OoT would all be things I would be interested in seeing in a contest so I don't agree that having OoT in the draw of any tournament is "pointless" --- LeBron "Stannis" James - The one true king of the NBA |

This a commonly repeated narrative on these boards, but it isn't true. While Link has dominated the character battles (taking 6 of 9 titles + rivalry rumble), OoT has only won a grand total of 1 of the 4 games contests in site history. 04: FF7 05: FF7 09: OoT 15: Undertale What we saw from the 2015 BGE results suggests there is definitely a chance for CT and/or RBY to defeat OoT in a future contest on natural strength alone, and that Melee is uniquely positioned as a game with tier 2 natural strength + has the ability to muster enough of a rally with consistent staying power to always be considered a threat as well. --- LeBron "Stannis" James - The one true king of the NBA |

| Link versus Cloud 05/20/17 1:01:09 PM #4 | This reminds me of my situation when I graduated high school back in 2008. Not the same scenario, but I was named Salutatorian somewhat unfairly as well. The system set up by the school was a bit stupid in that it punished you for taking electives over not taking classes at all due to AP class weights. Example Senior Semester: Me: AP Calculus - A: 5.0 AP Biology- A: 5.0 AP English - A: 5.0 AP Government - A: 5.0 AP French - A: 5.0 AP Computer Science - A: 5.0 Photography - A: 4.0 GPA: 4.85 Girl who was Valedictorian: AP Calculus - A: 5.0 AP Biology- A: 5.0 AP English - B+: 4.5 AP Government - A: 5.0 AP French - A: 5.0 GPA: 4.90 So I took more classes and got better grades, but had a lower GPA. My friends and family told me to speak to news stations and such at the time like this girl Allyson did to try to get the system changed. While I thought it was BS, I didn't do anything about it because it didn't really matter since both Valedictorian and Salutatorian got to speak at graduation and there were no scholarships that made a distinction between #1 and #2, as the most exclusive were top 1% (which in my class of 405 would mean top 4 all qualified). --- LeBron "Stannis" James - The one true king of the NBA |
