Jobs like that will often have a deadline included in the description, and they'll take applications until that date and then sort through the applicants. Even worse, because of some insurance stuff you weren't allowed to be on the ice for hockey without a helmet, so everybody had to crowd into the benches. Finding space to set down your gloves and stick to remove your helmet on a crowded bench took forever, so the whole thing was a complete waste of 5+ minutes so a bunch of bored kids could ignore a burned out cassette of the anthem played over a crackling PA.
