According to the probable cause statement, Stockley was caught saying he was "going to kill this motherfucker, don't you know it" and was heard telling another officer to drive into Smith's slowing car.

The court document, submitted by the St. Louis circuit attorney, said Stockley then approached Smith's window and fired five times into the car, hitting Smith "with each shot" and killing him. In addition, prosecutors say, there was a gun found in Smith's car, but it was later determined to only have DNA from Stockley.

Judge Timothy Wilson, the circuit judge who heard the case in a bench trial, acquitted Stockley on the murder charge as well as a charge of armed criminal action in a 30-page order released Friday morning.

Wilson wrote that he was "simply not firmly convinced" of Stockley's guilt, saying that "agonizingly," he went over the case's evidence repeatedly. Ultimately, Wilson said, he was not convinced that the state proved beyond a reasonable doubt that Stockley "did not act in self-defense," as the former officer had said.

He was involved in a high speed chase. People can get tense and say figurative things like that. Unfortunately, it came true---only after the individual pulled a gun on the officer.

I'm sure you'll say "No, he didn't pull a gun on him! He was an upstanding citizen who just happened to be fleeing police at a high speed"

I get people being resentful of individuals who try to run other people's lives. I even understand seeing religion itself as something of an accessory to the crime. But if you're the type who would feels the religious people who mind their own business are idiots, or you're the type who would put a religious figure in a video game as an antagonist or a cartoon show as the butt of a joke, then you're the aggressor. That has nothing to do with retaliation. You're going after a group for which 90% have done you no wrong.

It's more like, people use religion as a basis to restrict people's rights for no good reason. Eventually, people are going to get fed up.

Yeah.

It's not like religion is in any danger of going away, but we have seen a rise in the number of people who are opposed to it as a concept and it's certainly more socially acceptable to attack religion than what it would have been 15 to 20 years ago.

Not to play a religious victim narrative, but I think American media has made it to where it's more acceptable to be anti-religious than pro-religious. If you're anti-religious, you're speaking your opinion. If you're pro-religious, you're offensive because you're espousing views which not everyone can agree with. It's more of an annoyance than anything else, but it's there.

Yeah it statistically is for younger people. And that's good.

I was there, and what happened on stage was word for word what happened. Afterwards there was a weird power surge and everyone's phones were bricked. When I got home I tried to get the video off of the microsd but it was wiped too.
