Basically I'd have been satisfied with 8 of the top 10 winning and Bowser was one of the other two (the other was Jesse). That said overall it was a great contest and a lot of fun, and overall I'm happy with these results. Quite pleased that Gandalf made the top 5 and the overall great showing for Star Wars. Tolkien and Star Wars fans represent! Good job Snoopy too.

Will look forward to any future contests you choose to hold.

Where's the "I don't give a shit" option? Frankly whether they're younger or older doesn't matter as long as they aren't too much in either direction, and "too much" gets pushed a bit farther the older I get. At 27 I'd feel more comfortable dating someone six years older than younger, though. If it's within like 4 years it doesn't matter.

Like you almost had it, circled it and then went "but no seriously, I'm a shitbird".

Oh come on I am talking about a movie and not real life

So you never get invested in characters?

Aside from that, while they were fictional, you realize the events were real and based off of real people, right? Think of them as stand-ins for the real soldiers at Dunkirk in 1940.

I thought it was a pretty good if not brilliant film. It did do an excellent job of conveying a hopeless and desperate atmosphere, managing to walk the tightrope of being depressing but not so much that it was tuned out. Rylance's performance was the stand-out, though no one did a bad job (some characters were more memorable than others, though, like Murphy's). Great use of sound for the most part, especially with the Air scenes, though the sparse dialogue was occasionally drowned out. The most memorable scene for me is probably the night scene on the destroyer, when it's hit by a torpedo and sinks, dooming most of the men on board to drown in the hold, just because of how terrifying and tense that was, and the entire idea of it. I have to say I didn't care too much for Tommy, but the idea was supposed to be that he was just a random soldier going through the exact same things as everyone else, so I can forgive the relative lack of characterization.

For the record:
The Prestige > TDK > Inception > Batman Begins > Dunkirk > TDKR > Interstellar (not seen the older works. I know, I know; I will eventually).

And
12 Years a Slave > Fury Road > Dunkirk > Boyhood >= Gravity. 12 Years a Slave is a contender for the best film of the decade so far.

None of these films are bad, though some interested me less than others (Interstellar, Boyhood, Gravity).

Overrated is a valid complaint about people's perceptions, but is absolutely useless when talking about the quality of a film itself. I think Gravity is overrated, but it's a decent film.
