I don't think 10 wins is really that much of an absolute thing - I think that's much more around the 7-8 range these days, and also can vary a lot based on the class you're running (Rip arena warrior after the FWA change). Either way, your target is really 7 wins to go infinite, and you can still clean up on worse players even with an average deck.

Draft variance has been a bigger thing since Blizzard tweaked the rarity odds anyway, I don't think the microadjustments do all that much to hurt/fix that anyway, especially compared to synergy picks.

Mike: We have new technology that auto-corrects offering rates based on their win rate. This system will be monitored closely and will hopefully bring all classes closer to a 50% win rate.

honestly reading this makes me want to quit arena and just quit hearthstone all together. I was thinking of taking a break until the synergy pool gets removed but this is beyond ridiculous. this kind of change will make the win and loss rates of players depend almost entirely on luck.

Honestly, just the fact that the center is moving closer to Houston is a help at this point - the heaviest rain bands being east into Louisiana means that we're not getting nearly as much rain, which is a relief in itself.

Getting stronger winds sucks (though how much it will strengthen is still in question), but getting more rain dumped in would be worse.

So there is a pretty nasty storm headed toward Houston. This might wind up being a turning point for Trump as he deals with the real-world impact of his role as president, or an unmitigated disaster if the federal response has been anything like the rest of his presidency.

Forecasts for 10-20 inches of rain over 3-4 days, it's going to be miserable. For context, the floods Houston has had the last couple years were around that level, but mostly on a localized level. This time there are chances that there are a couple counties with at least that much.

First Paladin arena of KFT, and it went a lot like my paladin runs from late Ungoro, and went 12-1. Double Bonemare is probably the highlight, but aside from an Equality/Lay on Hands/Rallying Blade, it was mostly about the strong neutral commons this time.

Pretty good start to KFT arenas - after a 10 win hunter and two bad Priest/Hunter runs (3/1 wins), I wound up with a random Druid deck going 12 with one and a half 2-drops.



Innervate and Wild Growth did a lot of work, Ultimate Infestation did its job several times, and Deathspeaker/Corpse Raiser were pretty solid.

Got up to A- in all 3 ranked modes with the rapid blaster, being able to kill from range just feels so good when it works.

Salmon run is open now, load outs don't seem too bad, though flingza roller might take some getting used to.

The splatfest is also available to choose teams for, with the actual fest running 8/4-8/5. You can scrub abilities from the splatfest tee for 2k instead of the usual 20k, so it might be worth it to farm chunks over the next week.

The Dual Squelcher is back, as a dualie set. It was really great last game, hopefully it works as well this time around.

Apparently Bonemare (played by the opponent in the video) is a collectible card too - 7 mana 5/5 common neutral - give a friendly minion +4/4 and taunt.

That seems like a potentially really strong arena card that everyone will be tired of seeing.

It's more of a consistency thing - you're much more likely to be offered a Truesilver now, and Rallying Blade is a really strong 3 for paladin. Hunter gets Eaglehorn Bow, and since the 7.1 arena patch, commons and rates show up at about the same rates.

Shaman being able to draft Jade Claws/Stormforged Axe more often is probably more significant though.

Yeah, I have no problem with saying that Blizzard has really poor communication about anything Arena related, or that it's really significant that Paladin gets even better, just wondering if the micro of "draft more oozes" is really necessary.

Blizzard changed arena math without telling anyone, so draft Oozes if you see them. Not to mention Blizzard announcing a change in legendary pack math with the next set, then doing a sale immediately afterwards without the new pack math instead of just including it immediately.

Does this really change how frequently you draft oozes, though? They're already curve cards, so you generally want them anyway. The only real changes are paladin and hunter, since rogue weapons aren't great, and warrior is subpar as a whole even with this change.

I voted against my bracket twice today. Feels awkward when the second match is so close.

It's not commented too well, but it's primarily just using brute force to cover all cases.

you can also be eliminated even if no one person is guaranteed to beat you so long as every possibility puts someone ahead of you, though i'm not sure if that could even happen in a contest this simple. and if it could, it might be overlooked.

I have a test for this, but we don't really have the separation in brackets for it to come into play yet.

Iirc that number is just [gain - deficit] and not actually a magic number, that's probably why. A more accurate term might be 'breathing room', since you're eliminated if that value goes negative.

I guess it depends on what you mean by brute force? I don't think it's really possible to calculate unless you have all the brackets at your disposal.

The general formula for comparing one bracket to another is [Deficit] vs [Possible points gained], where deficit is the current difference in point totals, and possible points gained is the number of points represented in the difference in brackets (where points only count if the year picked hasn't lost a match yet). If the deficit is the larger value, you're eliminated.



If ngamer sends me a csv of the finalized brackets, I can run eliminations again - my program should still work with minimal modification for bracket size.
