I'd say it's more akin to dad scamming a bunch of money out of regular people and the kid, who was otherwise not involved, spending the knowingly stolen money on necessities for survival. While it would normally be repugnant for one to do such a thing, it instead becomes the only choice because the other side is constantly attacking them simply for being white.

I'm not defending Nazis, but you'd have to be blind to not see why people are identifying more and more with that side of the political spectrum.

The US needs to federally legalize all drugs and use the funds currently being used to lock up addicts and dealers to fund rehab and treatment facilities. Hoping to learn a little bit about my fellow PotDers, but without the political aspect that typically does nothing but spread vitriolic hate around here. Say as much or as little as you want, just try to stick to the topic. Where you live, what you do, home life, hobbies, interests, etc. I'll start:

I'm 28 years old, live in Southern Oregon and I'm an accountant for my state's court system. I'm married, own two homes and have 3 cats. I have two younger brothers, one is a biochemist and one is studying to be an electrician. My dad passed away when I was 10, my mother lives with me and I have a moderately sized family that mostly lives in the area. I have no kids but hope to someday.

I'm an avid sports fan, particularly when it comes to NFL football. I enjoy video games, particularly RPGs and puzzle games. My favorite shows are The Office and Parks and Rec. My favorite movie is the Back to the Future Trilogy, which I know is three movies but I really consider it to be one. I also enjoy camping, hiking, shooting guns and learning how to fix things.

I think that's kinda' debatable, depending on whether you feel offense or defense is more important.

It really isn't. It's not to diminish the other players, it's just that QB is the position that exerts the most control on a game. Teams are more or less not even contenders to win the SB without a top 10 QB. Hell, it's been almost 15 years since a team that won the SB had a QB that wasn't at least arguably top 10.

QB, RB, WR, TE, DE and LB tend to be the "superstar" positions, but QB clearly stands above the rest.

While this is true, a lot of this is largely symptomatic from the "blame everyone but the culprit" culture that is so prevalent in the US. The medical industry is a clusterfuck of bloated expenses resulting from bullshit lawsuits, insurance monopolies, deliberately unhealthy people constantly needing healthcare, drug R&D, etc.

The wages portion is almost worse because people love to spout off about an ambiguous living wage that always seems to include luxuries.

It's not hard to escape poverty if you live responsibly. I did it, I know tons of other people who have done it. It really is just a matter of living responsibly and working towards advancing your life.

Using states as the method of presenting the facts is a deliberately misleading way to state the facts though. There are more welfare recipients in New York City alone than any red state. Also, in many red states, the largest amount of welfare recipients live in blue counties or cities, such as Atlanta, Memphis, New Orleans, Miami, Detroit, etc.

Also, does it not go without saying that the poorest people are the ones using the most welfare?

Republicans just get a bad rap because their ideologies include a lot of unpleasant truths and favor those who are more self-reliant in comparison to the blind idealism and "everyone should help everyone no matter what" mantra of the Democrats.
