Well, I edited my post to include a spacial argument as well. I can't help but try to quantify existence, and time and space are the only factors you can really do that with, and you can't dismiss how little we as humans take up. Nihilism means nothing matters, and given how little we matter, it's pretty damn close to nothing.

But hey, that's me. If you want to convince yourself all of this was for you and us as the human race, then good for you.

We are eternal. We're made of stardust that's existed since the dawn of time, and we'll continue to exist after death.

But I was referring more towards the religious aspect of convincing me. When you take in the entire scope of the universe and how much time has transpired, you'd never convince me that all of it was for us humans. The universe has existed for over 13.7 billion years; primitive humans who started using stone tools existed about 2.5 million years ago. Humans have existed for 0.00018% of all time, and religion says all of time is for us? No, that just sounds self centered and a way of convincing ourselves we matter.

That's time, so what about space? I took a rough estimate of the estimated number of galaxies, average number of stars that exist in them, and came to us occupying about 0.000000000000000000000016% (1.6e-23) of our observable universe. It's been a while, I'm sure the numbers have changed, but usually the estimated number of galaxies/stars goes up every time I check.

So yeah, I'm a nihilist because we matter so little, and you'd never convince me all of it was so that a higher being could create us.

It seems like it's taking a page (heh) from the Japanese drama that came out like 2 years ago.

Light doesn't really start off as Kira. He's sort of bitch made and dumb until the ending, where he seems to fully embrace the role.

It's interesting that both L and Light are alive though. They were definitely planning for a sequel. I hope they get it, if only so I can see how it goes down.

And yeah, Mia was definitely the "true" villain in this adaptation.

It's heavily implied L writes down Light's name at the end. When Ryuk appears at the end and says "you humans are so interesting" Light looks terrified

I went in with my expectations really low and was pleasantly surprised.

If you make all characters white, then people will complain about lack of diversity.

If you make all characters white but have them have traits/personalities of stereotypical other nations/race, the people will complain about whitewashing/appropriation.

If you make all characters diverse, then people will complain about stereotyping.

If you make all characters diverse but not have them be stereotypes of their race/nation, then people will complain about misrepresentation.

According to the guy, his memo was something he was working on for a while and had circulated numerous times, getting positive feedback from other employees. I'm guessing it reached the wrong person lately.

However, the truly disgusting part of all of this is the media's handling of it. It's weird, watching Seinfeld for the first time you don't really notice how horrible the characters are, you're more noticing/laughing at the silly situations and jokes. I feel that's why the finale came out of nowhere for a lot of viewers because everyone expected the characters to live happily ever after. After repeated viewings from the syndication do you start to notice what terrible people they are and why the finale made sense.
