i've been playing this game long enough to know that a "maybe" is almost always just a no but she's being nice or keeping you on the hook just in case. I don't care enough about some stranger who I know nothing about to keep trying at that point. at least on okcupid you might have a profile/match percentage. with tinder it's just a crap shoot what type of person they are

and as for it being a coffee shop date, I don't drink caffeine, I don't want a date before 8pm (since I generally work til ~6 and want time to eat and prepare), and I don't go to coffee shops so it's an environment I'm not very comfortable in

I have never been very optimistic when it comes to dating (since I've never actually been in a relationship, so I am 0 for a few hundred) but over the past few months it has gotten worse. Now if I were to meet a girl who I liked I would just think "Whats the point of trying?"

I know I am the only reason I am unhappy right now, but I can't help myself. I basically obsess over the fact that I am alone, I wish I didn't but I think about it all the time.

There is a quote that says "If you can't be happy alone you won't be happy with someone else." And I guess I sort of agree with it, but there has to be a limit on that. Like if somebody is 90 and was alone their entire life are you really hate on them for being unhappy about it lol? I just reached max of what I can be by myself, I've done it all, I want to see what I am missing out on.

this is basically where i'm at. I've finally just decided to see a doctor about it. It's gotten to the point where everything bums me out. Like I've gone on a few vacations since I've been gone and instead of being relaxing I just see my peers everywhere having a great time and it bums me out

I've tried so many things to deal with it that work for like two weeks but inevitably the unhappy thoughts just keep creeping back. I've tried going to the gym, eating better, dating, going out more, getting on a better sleep schedule, trying to get a new job, leaving CE, it all just comes back around to I know I'm lonely and need help dealing with it. And not lonely in like a dating sense, but not posting here for a while made me realize just how much I depended on it for "support" as silly as it sounds. I have some close friends but I worry about stuff too much and am too nervous about meeting new people

I've been able to use alcohol as a crutch in many situations but I've developed pretty bad acid reflux so I can't drink a lot without it affecting my appetite for the next few days; it also as of late seems to affect my mood in the days after a lot more

anyway it takes fucking forever to get in to see a psychiatrist which is damn frustrating but thinking about the symptoms I think I've had anxiety/depression since I was a teenager so it's nice to finally be taking steps to fix it. I dunno if meds are the answer or just talking to someone but I know I need help

I also drunkenly hooked up with this friend of mine a couple times recently which has made things kind of weird (although it was a long time coming). We've been friends for like six years and basically whenever she's single we hang out a lot more than when she's not.

She's the type of girl though who needs to be in a relationship and she's been going on tons of dates... until recently she's been seeing some guy. And it doesn't help my bitterness towards online dating that my friend will talk about how great this dude she's seeing is and she hasn't been on OkCupid in a while... and then I take her home and fuck her. I don't want to date her or anything but also as she gets more towards being serious with the guy I see the end of the thing we currently have (sexual or not) looming and that bums me out.

You'll be fine. The odds of catching herpes from someone who's on medication with know outbreaks and you're wearing a condom is something like 1% if you have regular sex over the course of a year.
