They have managed to make an engine that does compression ignition (diesel style) on gasoline, along with the option of having it spark controlled during high speed use.

This technology is rated to increase fuel efficiency and power by 20-30% compared to their current, already fuel efficient 4-cylinders, and is slated to be in all their cars in 2019.

Part of the massive manual vs automatic debate is the relative maturity of the two types of technology going on there.

The manual has been known and perfected to the nth degree that the only thing they can do to change it is change clutch feel, change shifter feel, or add another gear or two.

Automatics in passenger vehicles have left manuals behind as far as gear count goes, and I know both Porsche and Toyota are experimenting with dual clutch and CVT/automatic hybrid technology respectively. Porsche with the PDK dual clutch has come up with a way to stuff 6 more extra ratios in by partially activating both clutches, and Toyota is experimenting with a CVT combined with a regular 4 speed automatic in the Lexus LC lineup, which isn't exactly low-horsepower material.

Some modern automatics are better than manuals. I'd trust any transmission made/engineered by ZF to be equal or better, for example.

The only CVT I'd even consider right now would be Subaru's CVT that's found in the latest WRX and Forester XT.

Get a compact size 9mm. The reputable name pistols that are compact size hold 15 rounds per magazine, and the lighter weight with easier handling will make it more favorable than a full size.

Also, be ready to shoot at least 1000 rounds down the range to get proficient with it.

I ran into the situation where my ex went on birth control, insisted on me finishing inside her over the next several months, and then deliberately went off birth control without telling me. I was only able to get her to confess when I noticed she didn't have her period.

This was a professional, college educated woman that pulled that shit on me. It's more likely to happen among the less educated and more impoverished than that. All it taught me was that I would never buy the line again that she (my future hypothetical girlfriend) is on birth control and didn't want kids.

System is going to be used for gaming with possible CAD on the side.

I lowered the PSU, but I can't justify buying another 1070 right now when a hybrid cooled 1080 is just $15 more. Nixed the sound card, I originally added it because I've had nightmares with MSI's onboard sound and network drivers.

Monitor is 1080p/144Hz. I had 32GB RAM scheduled because my current Windows 7 build (dates a little while back) seems to have memory leaks left and right. I don't have any experience with Windows 10 yet, so I don't know if the memory leaking is fixed.

As for the hard drives, I don't have any experience with M.2 drives to know how to put one in, and pictures of them slotted in motherboards isn't providing any help.

I'm looking at making AR barrels, and my main focus is different material use. High end barrels for the AR platform barely get into the 400 stainless steel territory, and I want to prototype exotic alloy steels, mainly Duplex steel and Inconel. I've machined both of these metals pretty frequently in the past, so I know the processes and tools needed.

The idea is to come up with a barrel that has the full durability of being chrome-lined, and the accuracy of one that isn't.

Is it? I mean if we wanted to pull some American Revolution 2.0 stuff, our semi-automatic rifles aren't going to do squat to a drone that could take out your whole block. I'm very much for Americans having reasonable access to fire arms, but arguing that you need it to fight off possible oppression is just ridiculous in this day and age.

I can drive exactly 2.1 miles from my driveway right now, go through the same background check I went through to get my 5.56 AR-15 and Sig P320, have it take the same amount of time, and walk out with a Barret M82A1 rifle. I'm pretty sure that can down a low-altitude drone.

Logic can build all those weapons to the nth degree, as well as come up with new and horrifying weapon forms, but almost nobody alive can make them.

Emotion, on the other hand, wants to use all those weapons and then says it's still not enough. Everyone has emotion.
