It depends. If he's somewhere where something like this is completely unacceptable, then I might intervene. If he's not being discreet at all and his behavior is disturbing the peace, then yes I would definitely intervene. In some cases I might even call the police, as you can't show porn to minors. If I was looking at porn in public, I'd make sure that minors can't see or hear it. Not that I would actually do that in public, as it's something private to me. The only reason why I wouldn't have any problem looking at porn in public is if it's for educational purposes, like a sexual education class for adults. Or I'm in a position to investigate potentially illegal material and the only other people present are in the same position.

I voted no because I believe that in most cases, I wouldn't intervene. I wish there was an option for "it depends" though.

The train rape phenomenon in Japan has nothing to do with paedophiles and I don't know why you think it does and the government took swift action with female only carriages. Why you think that means it's socially acceptable is beyond me.
The high number of sex crimes can also be explained by the nature of Japanese people.
People often describe Japanese people as kind and well-mannered. However, another dimension to Japanese people is they have little interest in others. Many Japanese dont want to get caught up in another persons troubles.
A person on the way to work, for example, may choose to ignore a molestation happening right in front of them. Theyd prefer not to sacrifice their morning to help the victim. In this situation, Japanese people think its best to pretend they dont see anything and simply continue with their usual life. Even faced with extreme suffering, many Japanese hate to get involved. I know this sounds cruel, but its the ugly reality. This kind of thinking makes it easier for molesters to commit crimes in Japan.

So if you identify yourself as a pedophile in Japan, people will pretend they didn't hear you. In other words, they'll act indifferent.

No no no. You did not say "more lax" you said literally (in a now deleted post) that it was socially acceptable, while simultaneously parroting racist misconceptions about Japanese law.
It's indeed more socially acceptable in Japan. It doesn't mean that everyone over there is okay with it, but that you're more likely to be ignored if you say you like small kids in a sexual way. It's also part of their culture to not intervene when someone else is being molested in public. You don't see Karens in Japan. People keep to themselves and don't want to make a scene.

My father taught me, but it was a long time ago and I haven't had much experience with it so I'm kind of rusty. If I were to try today, I think I would do okay after spending considerable time trying to figure it out again. Sewing by hand is another story. School taught me and I had plenty of experience doing it despite not having used those skills much in the past decade and a half. I feel confident doing it again without issue. My paternal grandmother also taught me how to knit, but I didn't get to practice it after and have since forgotten how. However, I'm pretty sure it wouldn't take long for someone to teach me again, just like how it didn't take long to teach me the first time.

Lolicon/Shotacon is only legal in the US if it's not sexually explicit, which is rare considering it's a form of hentai. In Japan, it's legal to show explicit pornographic scenes of fictional children. In the US, I could legally draw a scantily clothed 5 years old girl with a speech bubble suggesting she wants to have sex with the reader, but showing her actually having sex would be illegal. In Japan, both are legal. In Canada, where I live, neither are legal.

Of course, GameFAQs would ban my legal drawing. Their Terms of Use are harsher than US laws, which is a good thing in my opinion.

This idea that the age of consent is 13 in Japan is total misinformation, and while I could give someone the benefit of the doubt for believing in some sort of wild and wacky Japanese law, it's honestly really fucked up and disturbing when people use the factoid to justify creeping on young people. The age of consent isn't 13, stop creeping on children. It's gross.
Child pornography was legal in Japan up until 2014, but is still poorly enforced. The sexualization of children is still perfectly legal as long as they don't show a real child having actual sex. Everything else is fair game and it's disgusting. Japan is known as the international hub for the production and trafficking of child pornography, although the recent ban significantly lessened that. The problem is that it was international pressure that forced that change. When it comes to Japanese culture, it's far from resolved.

Harassing stranded sea animals causes stress and can also be dangerous for the people who interact with them, but it is also illegal, rescue officials said in the post.
"If a live dolphin or whale strands in Texas, please DO NOT PUSH the animal back to sea, do not attempt to swim or interact with them, do not crowd them," the Texas Marine Mammal Stranding Network said.
That's good to know, but I wish they would tell us what we should do to help the animal. If I saw a stranded whale on the beach, I'd know it wasn't feeling well. My first instinct would be to pour some water on it to avoid its skin from drying up. I would also contact the city to report the incident so that they can send a veterinarian to help nurse the whale back to health. According to them, that would amount to interaction, which is apparently forbidden.

Obviously, what the people did to that whale is cruel and they deserve to be punished, but what about me? My instinct tells me to try my best to give comfort to that poor whale. I'm referring to things like giving gentle caresses, pouring some water, speaking calmly, etc. I'm sure the whale is smart enough to understand and appreciate what I'm doing. Maybe it's too late and it will die regardless, but who wouldn't want someone to give them comfort during that time?

I've personally accompanied a nonhuman animal to its inevitable death. It was my cat and we were at home. He had received a shot early in the morning to stop hurting. After that he was just weak and slept on my chest as I was laying on my back binge watching the first season of 24. At 10PM, he started gasping for air and I held him and reassured him with words. His heartbeat gradually slowed down until it completely stopped 30 minutes later. His whole body was shutting down and I don't think he was fully aware during the last minutes. The cause of death was pancreatic cancer.

According to the law in many countries, failing to disclose the fact that you're trans to your sexual partner is considered rape. Just kissing can be sexual assault. Basically, the act of "trapping" is criminal in many places. It's the same as not disclosing an STD, although that can also account to aggravated battery and even homicide in some cases.

Outside of avoiding criminal liability, I can see two other reasons why you'd want to disclose it. First, you may simply be trying to be considerate by saving the person hitting on you from any embarrassment that may result after the realization that you were trans all along. Second, you may be trying to save time by filtering out those who would never date you knowing you're trans. If the person hitting on you doesn't care about the revelation, then you might have a suitable partner in front of you.

I watched the first episode of MLP back in the day just to see what the fuss was all about. It wasn't bad, but it didn't turn me into a Brony. Regardless, there are quite a few kids shows I watch for fun. Pretty much everything I watched at the age of 8 is still good for me as an adult. My tastes haven't changed since that age, they just evolved to include more things. It's the shows I watched during my preschool years that I find terrible now. If I liked anything at the age of 3, there's a high chance I would hate it now. Age 4 is about 50/50, then it gets progressively more likely that I still enjoy it today as my past self grows, up until the age of 8 where 100% of it I would still like it today. On the other hand, there are plenty of stuff I like today that I wouldn't have liked as a kid.
