i was looking for cheatcodes for Warcraft 1 & 2. I ran into super cheats which was the premier cheat site at the time. Than I ran into gamefaqs. It was proto simple back then, and barely had anything on it. I remember coming a few times and looking for tips on how to beat campaigns on Warcraft 2. Rest is history.

Yeah... just make a new topic, dude. If people wanted to post, they'd have posted on the first couple of days. Except in the case of long running general purpose topics like the selfie topic, drinking topic, Smash Bros, genshin impact, etc, which exist to cut down on spam and to keep interested parties centralized together.

There's no reason for a generic character popularity poll to be bumped months after the previous final post was made lol

I did intend to have these topics be general discussions in addition to data collection which is why they are titled as such with little bias as possible. Are you saying if I specified General Cobra Kai Discussion #50 then it would be more okay than what I posted? That seems woefully unnecessary.

Generic opinion polls don't really need a bunch of bumping, whereas a topic about an ongoing situation (personal or otherwise) might reasonably be bumped by new information.

But even then, etiquette usually serves best when you make a new topic and just link to the old one.

If true, that's ridiculous that I must be subjected to a time frame or create the same topic again when the previous one is still available. Especially for polls collecting data.

Look... people will talk in your threads until they're done. That's why topics naturally drop down the list when nobody posts in them. If it's a popular topic, you don't need to bump it. If it's a topic nobody cares about, or the discussion has run its course, it expires naturally.

Just let it live its life span and then let it die naturally.

So when am I allowed to interact? My first and only replies were enough to get deleted and the entire topics closed. That doesn't seem fair at all.

I for one applaud the fine moderation team here for acting swiftly on this and removing truly harmful and offensive content.

Things like supporting white supremacy/nationalism, downplaying a virus and spreading misinformation can clearly take a backseat to egregious offenses like the TC's.

I just wanted data and discussion in anticipation for an upcoming film.

I stick to one episode/chapter per day for any show/book/game. This way I hardly ever get burned out. I'm always anticipating the next episode

People complain about the runtime, but the Snyder cut is split into clear parts. Just watch one per day.

If there was a violation, what lesson am I supposed to learn here? There was no option to dispute.

Not really sure whats so hard to understand about this. If you want to ask what Uncharted game is peoples favorite, youre more than welcome to create that thread on the Uncharted, PlayStation or social boards. If you want to actually discuss the movie, then by all means you are welcome to make a thread centered on movie discussion on the movies board.

What qualifies as on-topic discussion? An opinion survey about the source material is disqualified. Commenting on the lead actor is disqualified. What should I include in my topic to create this poll on the Movie board?

You can make that exact topic on one of the Uncharted boards, or on the PS3/PS4/PS5 board, or on any of the general boards. You could have made it on this board.

Just not on the board specifically meant for the discussion of movies currently or soon-to-be released in theaters.

The movie board sample group is relevant to the results and discussion. I suppose you could argue this discussion would be off-topic ten years ago, but GameFAQs deleted the poll within a week of the date. It's on topic. It's on time. It's not allowed.

Since the film is an adaptation, I believe source material is inherently part of the discussion.

Specifically regarding the deleted topic, no one seems to agree a film community's opinion on an upcoming adaptation's source material may contain interesting data.

It's a board for talking specifically about movies, not about the games a movie might be based on. You have to focus the discussion on the movie, not the games. If you're serious about data collection, you should probably work for a polling company or something. You're not going to get accurate data about video games by going to a movie message board lol

A poll doesn't stopping anyone from discussing the film. Deleting the topic does.

The game was "Mighty Jill Off" and even though it has "Jill Off" in the title it's pretty tame and a tribute to Mighty Bomb Jack.

The game is an homage to the NES. I agree with you, the topic should not have been deleted.

So there's a lot of potential discussion comparing the games to the upcoming film. An obvious one could be about the transition from video games to big screen. Or perhaps some may voice anticipation for their favorite game's film adaptation.

Another reason the topic should stay is the poll data. It's interesting to review poll results from different samples of the gamefaqs population. The movie board may have a different opinion than the game boards. This itself can open up discussion as to why that is.

Not quite the same situation as mine, but modern 8-bit games are clearly in homage to the NES era. Would encourage discussion about differences including pros, cons, then-and-now, etc. What game did you post?
